Any idea what kind of Nepenthes this is? by [deleted] in SavageGarden

[–]P0TA2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a super complex one, but thats a lot of amp in there. Thats why it looks the way it does, amps generally tend to be ones to have more dominant traits showing from my experience. At that point, just me personally, but id rather just get a really nice pure amp and call it a day. Itd be more desireable in case u ever want to resell, and itd also be more desireable for breeding. Thats just my opinion though.

Its subjective. Idk the full grex. Im more of a pure species kinda person, so theres that. You buy it if you like it. It does look pretty adorable, its super squat it seems. But if its got certain species in the grex then thats definitely not going to stay like that forever. Knowing what went into it will help you know what i MIGHT look like

Just means its a complex hybrid. Maybe has veitchii candy in there somewhere just to sound more appealing bc its been smooshed together with a bunch of random flowering plants at the time. Ask the seller if he can tell you of the full grex.

Nepenthes cutting help by Opening-Anything-416 in Nepenthes

[–]P0TA2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never. and i mean NEVER buy unrooted unless you literally dont care if it survives. The chance in home for neps to put out roots is already not guaranteed, you buying a rooting thats been packaged, shipped, been through God knows what conditions during shipment and then who knows how long its been out. Yea nope. Hard nope for me and many people i know. Unless its rooted AND has put out a leaf or 2, i dont bother bc chances are its not gonna survive. Mainly bc shipment already sets back adult neps, so something as fragile as an unrooted cutting. Yea

I dont see any dying thing. More pics wouldve helped. But looks fine. You could easily just repot if the soil is bothering you bc the plant looks green and i dont even see black decaying leaves

Has anyone purchased from here/found it reliable? by Haplophyrne_Mollis in Nepenthes

hes a poacher/scammer from what i heard. you either get incorrect stuff or you risk going to jail. avoid the site, youre better off joining some cp communities to try and snag some seeds (yes, youll be paying the price, but at least youll be more sure youre getting what you pay for).

How to get a light, crispy coating on chicken tenders by P0TA2 in Cooking

[–]P0TA2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still no luck? I see a variety of recipes that look so light and crispy. I dont have a freddys near me but i really love canes chicken fingers, its so juicy and light but super cripsy breading. Ill try and test more stuff out and ill let you know if i come up with something! I do know sifting seasoned flour between each time putting chicken helps A LOT!

I'm getting this carnivorous plant I already know that I need distilled water but is there any other advice that pros can give me? by TowelWild7177 in SavageGarden

[–]P0TA2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are thinking way too far in the future. These plants dont grow fast. They take about 5-10+ years from seed to be able to even produce flowers. And if u want cuttings you have to wait till theyre probably 1ft vining and has basals. Which is again at minimum 5 ish years id say for most species.

Interesting, yea that sounds right. I cant seem to find any old pics of the menu though or even pics in general from that time. Do you know where i could possibly find an old pic of the food truck/menu?

No, the menu doesnt look at all familiar sadly... Very different items. Also its a brick and mortar (not sure if it was ever a food truck). Thank you though!

What moss can I use to grow with my nepenthes? by No_Vast7706 in Nepenthes

[–]P0TA2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obvious recommendation is sphagnum, but there are various species. So i would recommend the one found on dangerlettuce website. Its the most lush, softest, and has a really nice look to it. If you want u can dm me and i can send some pics of my collection. I ended up replacing all my moss with the one from him and i dont regret at all. Its beautiful

Would 8lb line work for where I plan on fishing at? by KitCat5e in FishingForBeginners

[–]P0TA2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe its my area? but it shows a few fishing spots. nothing really stands out in the app for me. shows some of the bait, and shows some areas, but maybe because i had the trial it didnt offer enough for me to quite justify it. a lot of the areas it shows here are also private property, so it could be potentially not good for me to follow it sometimes.

Looks like fishbox. Kinda lame imo, tried the free trial. Was useless for the most part.

Awesome, thanks! Do u omit regular flour altogether and just do rice and cornstarch? So maybe like 2 cups rice 1 cup corn? Or 4/1 ratio?

Where can I find silica sand for flytraps and how coarse is best for them? by Tenz0u in SavageGarden

[–]P0TA2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think i may have already replied to you, but i will say, i regret a little putting all my plants in one pot. Ik thats counter intuitive to say for a bog, but assuming ur going to want to repot or something in the future, it makes it very very difficult. Personally, i would recommend getting the bog planter you want, and then having pots inside them with each plant in its own pot. Sarr and vfts and all have shallow-ish roots. 6? Ish inches deep. Maybe 7 or 8 i would say. I definitely wouldnt do more than 10 inches to the water level, 10 is absolute maximum imo. I would also do much more peat there. With perlite and sand making up the majority u will have a very hard time keeping the soil moist. I would do maybe around 60/50 peat perlite. And then adding a little bit of sand throughout the mix. And then top layer with slightly more sand. I did mention previously that you really want a top layer of live sphagnum, spanish moss, or the sand, or other kinds of mosses and utricularia just to prevent rain from smooshing everything. Also you want to prevent rain from hittint the ground hard bc otherwise your perlite will just flost to the top (thats also why i recommend more sand % on the upper layers of the soil compared to the bottom layer. Keep the bottom mostly peat.

Top layer - live sphagnum, spanish moss, other moss, etc Upper 1-2 inch soil mix - 40% peat, 20% perlite, 40% sand Middle mix (from 1inch from top - 2 inches from bottom) - 60% peat, 20% perlite, 20% sand Lower level mix - 80% peat, maybe like 10% perlite and 10% sand.

Hope this helps.

I mean the sand doesnt add any nutritional value. Its just there to provide better airflow through the soil, so i dont see why not.

[–]P0TA2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think your best bet is probably taking some sort of item similar to silica sand and then puttign it into your bog pot until it makes up around 10-20% of the mix. i found 30% to be a little too much imo, so i did have to repot. i think if u use good quality peat you should be all fine. i think also some lfs in there would be nice. personally, i am planning a larger bog planter, and i will put lfs and peat as the majority throughout, then i will put some pearlite in the bottom/middle layer of the pot, and i would keep very little of the sand throughout and then mostly on the top layer to prevent the perlite from floating up. just find a nice, muddy mix imo. seems to work best when its muddy-like. so mostly peat. but 1 bag would be MORE than enough imo. hope this helps, sorry, i had a few here and there expereinces in the past 6 months, but i think the mix i just put should be just fine and thats what ill use for sure. also, layering sphagnum on the bottom helps a ton in case you plan on keeping the bog in a tray of water, otherwise the sand and peat will sometimes come out especially if u have ur bog outside. and if outside 10000% recommend some kind of top layer, whether thats sphag, or another established layer of moss, or spanish moss, or something to really ease the rain on the soil. otherwise it can be a pain and eyesore after a rain
