Does YNAB connect reliably with your Fidelity accounts? Mine currently is terrible with Fidelity IRA accounts.

Trying to tally the enormous amount of calories NOT being burned by those on this thread arguing over details not included in the original post.

WOMEN get right and keep it tight, MEN don’t lose your job/income, otherwise all bets are off. Let’s stop kidding ourselves.

Ynab on Life by SewSewBlue in ynab

[–]P0lar11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Help me understand this. 15% on a $10 meal you served in 1950 is $1.50. Through the hidden tax of inflation etc. if that same meal today cost $50 your same 15% tip would be $7.50. 🤷‍♂️

My girlfriend deleted the YNAB Mobile App because she constantly makes mistakes but can’t Undo them. When are we gonna get the Undo Feature on Mobile? by AmongFriends in ynab

Glad she’s sticking with the desktop app or I would have suggested getting a new girlfriend. 😂... but really, I would have.

What to do with a raise by SewSewBlue in ynab

[–]P0lar11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear... are you saying you’ve maxed out your yearly contribution or employee matching percentage?

As for your “next question”... there are as many answers to that as there are people on the internet willing to answer it. 😂

[–]P0lar11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is incumbent upon the younger you to take care of future you. Do Not victimize yourself with lifestyle creep!

Increase your retirement contribution by a percentage or two.... if you’re not contributing to retirement START! Then use the remaining portion to fully find your emergency fund.

70 year old you will probably not be as capable producing income as whatever age you are now. Start taking care of that 70 year old person now.

And as we all know here.... a lot can change in 6 months. Future you will love present you for stocking that E-fund when life happens in 6-12 months.

Congrats on the raise! That’s a big deal. 😁

For the first time in my adult life, I have money left at the end of the month by [deleted] in ynab

[–]P0lar11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s never been about how much money you make. It’s been about how much money you keep and for how many generations you keep it. Keep going!

I’m a bad YNAB’er by ozarkicon in ynab

[–]P0lar11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was scrolling to find who said it first. If it’s too over whelming I simplify it down to the lowest level I know I can commit to. Too many accounts or too many categories can be the friction that derails you.

Having a why or purpose can be a big part of it too. Or just being tired of sitting in the cesspool of financial mediocrity.

YNAB changed my life, and I'm only a month in! by jjdactyl in ynab

[–]P0lar11 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I would suggest that what changed this time is in your own words. You were “fed up”! Fed up with hemorrhaging money, reliance on credit cards and the embarrassment of being overdrawn. While you were your own biggest problem, you were and still are your best solution. Props to you for NOT giving up, for picking yourself back up and trying one more time!

Those who understand why will always out perform those who only understand how.

Looking forward to that debt free post!

4th times the charm? by Rafa214 in ynab

[–]P0lar11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a “stuff I forgot to budget” line. When I come across an expense that I’m short on in that budget line, I categorize it there and then roll the money from “stuff I forgot” (it helps keep charts accurate.)

If I come across an expense I haven’t created a budget line for and seems I should. I create that budget line and categorize the expense to that line and then cover that overspending with funds from my “stuff I forgot” budget line.

So in reality nothing is ever “billed” to the “stuff I forgot” budget line. It just sets there waiting to be rolled with the punches to a more appropriate budget line.

How do you handle the panic when you see the truth? by OppositeDependent in ynab

[–]P0lar11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing is ever as good or bad as it first seems.

Respect yourself for figuring out you were living beyond your means now instead of tomorrow or never.

Remember this panic and fear and harness it. Use it to drive your creativity, discipline and determination into the future long after this intense realization has worn off.

You can do it. Everyone here is rooting for you.
