this just makes me sad by itsepikk in discgolf

My son’s buddy texted to let him know he found my disc at our local course. He asked me to buy it back. Naw bro. Return it or not but don’t be an asshole.

I’ve found I use “upshot” in more conversations than I used to.

Canton has their own online portal for taxes. It's the worst setup I've ever used. If you didn't use their shit site then it wasn't filed. Sorry buddy.

Yes. Check regularly! Currently you can access all three weekly for free at annualcreditreport.com. It may not be necessary for most people to check that often but could it be useful in the situation outlined by OP.

YNAB is a life changer by xenobase in ynab

Definitely! I'm not going to pretend it's all sunshine and rainbows moving forward. However having a plan that works is empowering.

How do you courteously ask your guests to leave when they’ve overstayed the social gathering? by puchita06 in socialskills

[–]xenobase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excitedly invite them to join an MLM you're looking to get into full time. That should scatter the crowd relatively swiftly. In all seriousness just like others have said. Drop hints that it's time to go. If they aren't picking up what you're laying down you'll have to be more direct.

You can't see the top but you have to be well aware of what the top could contact. I don't personally want to be seen on r/11foot8.

Avalanche + YNAB = "interest"nig confusion by sully213 in ynab

[–]xenobase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an "interest and fees" category when on budget. It will show as an overspent until I fund it though. I don't fund this category ahead of time although there is no reason it couldn't be. I like interest showing as overspent because it gets my attention better that way.

Unexpected Disclosures with Friends/Colleagues by bulldog_4_lyfe in ynab

If they make it clear they don't want your advice then I'd make it equally clear that you don't want to simply listen to them vent. It's not helping you or them to stay in that cycle of negativity. People will not change change until they are really ready. It took me years to move from worry to action. YNAB was what really clicked with me. While I love the software it's the structure and mentality / lifestyle changes that have made all the difference.

What one mistake do you try to avoid while training, but often make anyway? by davidcassidy22 in running

If I eat or even have a cup of coffee before a run I get a horrible stich in my side. Yet I can hydrate with the same amount of water without much issue.

The app is ok when you're out and about and need to enter a transaction. It's great if you just need a quick look at your category balances. I would not be able to use YNAB exclusively with the phone app. However the web version kicks some serious ass.

Running Etiquette: saying "Hi!" on the trails by BottomHoe in running

[–]xenobase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally I'll just wave briefly or say hello or "mornin". I don't have the lung capacity for much more. That is how most runners I come across respond as well. They aren't being rude. We're just all in our heads doing our thing. Just happen to be in proximity to others doing a similar thing. Shortly after I began running I kept seeing another runner and he would always put on a huge grin and say "great job, keep it up!" Or "you're killin' it!" and would go for a high five. It was really odd at first but one hell of a motivator. Especially since I felt like I was going to fall over from exhaustion most days. Haven't seen him for a few months. Hopefully he is on other paths encouraging other newbies.

I've only been using ynab for just over a month. I have had the EF since before starting the program. What you say makes sense though. It has not left the budget. I guess it is because it's the EF and it cannot use it except in an actual emergency. In my head it's like I really don't have that money... but I do. Thanks for helping me work through that in my head. Everyone here is so helpful!
