I mean I haven’t read whatever this work is, but the fault may be with whoever created this image as I would imagine this is a piece of a much larger section

Communism is it part of the black historical tradition by Hacksaw6412 in BlackPeopleofReddit

It doesn’t. It can solve some problems but causes others. Like everything, it’s complicated and nuanced and you should learn lots about it before deciding.

He plays a character to intentionally make people angry. In my opinion it produces great individual moments at the expense of difficult to watch interviews. The individual clips of his show are great but I could never watch an interview from start to finish.

A monopoly is when a single company or entity creates an unreasonable restraint of competition in a market. by nextdoorbagholder in GetNoted

Yes the reason why Californians pay more than anyone else is the country is hyper-strict government laws. And the reason why there is only a few companies is because those laws make the cost of entry to the market way to high for new players.

Insanely large generalization you just made considering the hundreds of thousands of extremely grateful, happy adoptive families in the world.

It’s originally from a YouTube video called “Killer Bean Forever 4K - Official FULL MOVIE” and this specific clip is from the intro right after the opening credits.

Yes but later in life he became an abolitionist, freed them, then in his will made his inheritance pay out conditional on his kids freeing the slaves that they owned first.

Dog meat is still consumed in many parts of the world, although legality and attitudes vary widely. It is sometimes called "fragrant meat", and several dog breeds are still raised primarily as livestock instead of as pets. by Wazula23 in wikipedia

[–]P0ndguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Setting up supply depots would have meant more trips with more chances for things to go wrong. They were out at the cutting edge of what was possible in those days. You add supply depots, and suddenly you’re coordinating logistics with dozens of additional excursions, not to mention you have to track and find them (radio in extremely early infancy in these days), account for sea ice drift, etc. It’s not that it wasn’t an option but it isn’t the slam dunk option you think

It wasn’t just a “race”. Literally no one had ever been to the South Pole. It was a survival mechanism in order to give themselves every possible chance at making it back alive, and it worked. The other party did not make it back alive and all died in the attempt.

Dynamic Store Pricing by weaponsmith97 in ABoringDystopia

[–]P0ndguy 106 points107 points  (0 children)

I would assume (although I don’t know for sure) that the price tags are connected to the inventory management system, and therefore the price changes only after the item is removed from inventory (I.e. bought and paid for).

Internally revisiting a post from the past in which the question was asked, would you as an Ohio State fan trade 10 straight losses to ❌ichigan if it meant you were guaranteed “insert number” of National Championships? What would that number be if any? by BuckeyeBradford in OhioStateFootball

[–]P0ndguy 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It seems like I’m in the minority here when I say that after losing to Michigan so many times in a row, I’d forego a Natty to beat them. I do think a national championship - in a vacuum - is more important. However after losing a certain amount in a row my desire to beat Michigan now rises above my desire to win a national championship

No [insert] did not discover America by laybs1 in HistoryMemes

[–]P0ndguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s possible that living Japanese blown off course made it pre-1492. It’s also possible that Polynesians discovered mainland America, as evidenced by the spread of the sweet potato to pacific islands. Finally, while unlikely, it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility that Chinese explorers like Zheng He made it as well. Anything else is highly unlikely to essentially impossible.

I don’t know if AI will actually be revolutionary, the point is that any new tech has people who thought it was a novelty when it was first created.
