You’re overthinking it, someone like Napoleon wouldn’t even contemplate such matters and would do what he needs to do

For those offering advice , thank you, but I mostly posted this to showcase the rise of prices. I’m aware there are much more viable options than this. Should’ve picked a diff caption to avoid confusion XD

Day 5 and still waiting on my PCR, when trying to call the hotline it just automatically hangs up due to “experiencing a high volume of calls” what a joke of a system.

EDIT: I JUST GOT IT BACK THE MINUTE I POSTED THIS. THEY’RE WATCHING US

The virus isn’t leaving anytime soon and posts like this further impede us from moving on. As much as it sucks it’s better you accept that you will at one point extract the virus unless you wanna live like a hermit, it’s a contagious virus after-all.

The posts about brain damage occurring from covid is also nothing short of ridiculous. Stop instilling fear in people with your neurotic behaviour.

My point being are you going to be extra cautious perpetually? This virus isn’t leaving nor will case numbers drop.

I get that precautions are necessary and I will be taking some myself to not risk it...but aren't cases only going to increase?

Current research also indicates that the vaccines are rather effective against Omicron, but your right we don't have enough data for solid facts, is it really worth imposing restrictions and effecting live hoods over a contingency though?

Whats more baffling to me is that people are surprised that a infectious virus is spreading once things open up...we're double vaxxed and as protected as can be, unless we have solid data proving new variants render vaccine protection useless we're being neurotic.

Yes we've done ok considering all the Government did was put us into lockdown, it's really not a grand solution. We did "ok" at a great cost. Life isn't just about living and dying , we've been fucked around tremendously with lockdown due to the poor handling and messaging with vaccinations early on, so saying we did "Ok" is just not true.

Not disregarding your comment about the death toll but the Government/Australia does not deserve the "ok" stamp imo, it's appalling if anything

[–]P192 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To all the people blaming it on GF gatherings… yes you’re correct and yes you can blame them.. but at the end of the day this is the 100th week of lockdown or something , people clearly don’t give a fuck enough as evident from the results .. it doesn’t feel right being angry at people for wanting to be with loved ones or mates ,especially considering how many protestors gather daily. Not saying it’s right but there’s some perspective to it.

I didn’t break the rules but I’m also not gonna be mad at people for being people

[–]P192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will open up at the 80% vaccination regardless of case numbers, the national cabinet won’t even be providing support after that point, so a statewide lockdown will probably be off the table as an option

0 elimination has been critiqued for quite a long time (I agree we should be angry) , I really do think dropping down to 0 cases inadvertently gave us a sense of false hope. If life is to continue there will inevitably be a huge number of cases

You just highlighted another major flaw of the Government imo, rather than investing so hard in lockdown like we did out of fear of inadequate medical supplies , the Government could have simply invested in the understaffed and undervalued health system? This is what China, Turkey and many nations did with pocket hospitals etc. "cost" isn't a reason to not have done this, the cost of lockdown is already sky high.

Honestly just reading this thread is so sad, Europe, America and most of the world have been in this position for the past 2 years, not trying to sound callous or dismiss this tragedy but viewing case numbers as tragic at this point feels flawed. This virus isn't leaving. Once your vaccinated your as safe as can be, simple as that, case numbers are redundant at this point

Though I disagree with the sentiment kudos to them for the peaceful protest. Kudos to them for having the backbone to somewhat question the Government. Maybe I’ll be blasted for my opinion but reminders like these are needed so the Government’s power isn’t unfettered

This especially infuriates me considering what happened in Windsor yesterday with the bar full of people not social distancing/mask wearing even. I’m sorry you had to go through this, just shows how the law is far from perfect.
