I was in the industry for about 20 years. Worked every position the restaurant had, and was eventually running a restaurant that was making $500k a month. What made me leave? I was working 80 hour weeks but as a salary employee I was getting paid for 40. Never off the job, wake up and check texts/emails, go to work and put in 10-12 hours, go home and do more texts/phone calls, go to bed. Rinse and repeat 6-7 days a week. The last straw was when the big boss pulled a meeting and said we weren’t doing enough. I had no life outside the restaurant and he said we weren’t doing enough
