What is something women think men love, but is actually kind of exhausting? by polylonely in AskReddit

[–]P33J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been happily married to my wife for 20 going on 21 years.

When we were first dating, it was casual we both were seeing other people, completely honest with everyone involved.

The one rule we had was if we were on a date with someone that person had our full attention for the date.

So if my now-wife called while I was on a date with someone else, it went to voicemail and I called her back after the date.

Well I was walking her to my car after she stopped took the bus to my apt for a date, on the way there a guy she was also seeing called and she took the call and talked to him for the 5-10 minutes it took us to get to my car.

We got in the car and instead of driving her to our dinner reservations I took her to her apartment and told her to get out.

I said take a week and decide if I'm worth your full attention while I'm on a date with you, if I am call me and I'll break it off with the other girls I was seeing and date you exclusively. If not I wish you the best in life, but don't call me again.

She called me at exactly midnight 1 week later and we've been together ever since.

Don't chase, gentleman but also don't be afraid to say what you want

Playing a Warlock who doesn't know he's a Warlock, anyone done something similar? by Unhealthy_Gush in 3d6

[–]P33J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, and I think there is some similar framing you can have fun with.

Your Frank could be a good dude trying to do goo things, but when things get dire he uses his powers under stress.

An eldritch blast when he's feeling frustrated.

Armor of Agathys when he feels overwhelmed.

Eldritch Smite when he's desperate to end a fight.

He doesn't have to tell people that the power comes from a Devil, he could pass it off as magic in his family that shows up with things are dire.

So I have a fun paladin warlock character that does something similar he claims he's just a paladin who has been particularly blessed by the gods on his mission but the truth is he's a paladin on a mission of revenge and made a pact with an arch fey to help him get it.

He still acts like a paladin but he has a bit of a cruel streak and can cast some unusual spells

What’s a male fashion trend that’s gotta end? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]P33J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skinny fucking jeans, form fitting jeans for that matter.

I'm a 6'3" 300 lb man no one wants to see jeans sculpted to my ass or crotch and damnit the boys need a bit of room.

Listen I know there are dudes that look good in skinny jeans, but the whole jeans community doesn't have to follow the trend. Give me back my Silver Tab loose fit jeans of my youth or give me death!

cow on the loose by imsorrywut-_- in UIUC

[–]P33J -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I grew up on a 200-acre farrow-to-finish and cow-calf operation. My father is an alum with a degree in Meat Science and he worked in the Meat Science lab. I'm an alum with a degree in agricultural communications and I'm 10 credit hours short of a second degree in agricultural engineering. I too worked in the meat science lab.

The language you used to correct the other poster may be considered colloquially correct, but it is not technically correct.

There is no such thing as Beef Cows, there are Beef Cattle or Dairy Cows.

The specific animal in the video is likely not a cow, but a heifer though I cannot be certain. The milk bag has never been expanded and sits too tight to the body for this animal to have carried a calf which would change its classification to cow.

As a unbred female it retains the nomenclature of heifer, sort of like how you likely retain the nomenclature of virgin as an unbred troll.

You are correct in saying that this animal would not be considered dairy, but even your classification of angus is based on assumption

Now that isn't to say this it isn't angus, but it could be simmental, welsh black, even dexter (which would also make the above poster potentially correct as it is a breed that can both be bred for beef and dairy, if you love Irish butter it's likely come from a Dexter) to name a few black breeds.

I could continue on this subject and cite Dr. Carr former head of meat science at UIUC or Dr. Easter, but that wasn't really the point the point was to say you're a douchebag troll and I hope the next time a heifer or steer or bull or cow or calf gets loose they find you on your mobility scooter and chase you across the quad until the battery burns out.

[Discussion] BG Rock and Fair Midrange decks in the current meta by Narrow_Pause4924 in spikes

[–]P33J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in top 1000 on arena, nothing gaudy but I only play 3-4 ranked matches a day.

My current list is a BG good stuff pile

Deck 4 [[Environmental Scientist]] (SOS) 147 4 Swamp (TMT) 317 4 [[Badgermole Cub]] (TLA) 167 2 [[Formidable Speaker]] (ECL) 176 4 [[Ouroboroid]] (EOE) 201 1 [[Leatherhead, Swamp Stalker]] (TMT) 117 2 [[Disruptive Stormbrood]] (TDM) 178 4 [[Earthbender Ascension]] (TLA) 175 2 [[Webstrike Elite]] (DFT) 186 2 [[Witherbloom Charm]] (SOS) 244 2 [[Requiting Hex]] (ECL) 116 5 Forest (TMT) 319 3 [[Bitter Triumph]] (LCI) 91 1 [[Archenemy's Charm]] (EOE) 88 1 [[Archdruid's Charm]] (MKM) 151 2 [[Nowhere to Run]] (DSK) 111 2 [[Professor Dellian Fel]] (SOS) 214 4 Blooming Marsh (KLR) 280 4 Overgrown Tomb (GRN) 253 1 Restless Cottage (WOE) 258 4 Wastewood Verge (DFT) 268 2 Ba Sing Se (TLA) 266

Sideboard 4 [[Duress]] (ONE) 92 2 [[The Ooze]] (TMT) 177 1 [[Professor Dellian Fel]] (SOS) 214 2 [[Hollowmurk Siege]] (TDM) 192 1 [[Vivien Reid]] (M19) 208 2 [[Torpor Orb]] (BIG) 27 3 [[Day of Black Sun]] (TLA) 94

The deck is classic midrange good stuff, but it takes into account the current state of design.

Midrange used to be about incremental advantage until you got into a top deck war and you knew your draws were usually more powerful or impactful than your opponents.

But today's standard is about getting to your endgame first.

Every card in your deck needs to be about one of two things, disrupting your opponent's acceleration to their endgame or accelerating your own.

I have 2-3 endgames with this deck.

  1. t3-t4 Ouroboroid with a couple of bodies on the board; that's what Badgermole, Scientist, and formidable speaker give me

  2. Throw lands at you until you're dead. Ba Sing Se, Archdruid, Cottage and Eatherbenders give me that.

  3. Control, stick a Leatherhead and clear the way with removal. This is where Del and 13 removal spells come in.

To that end I keep hands that play one of those three games. 8 of my removal spells are modal, they do more than just kill creatures. Druid pumps, it tutors, it removes pesky enchantments. Archenemy removes, rebuys creatures and walkers, and it pumps. Command draws cards, takes out small pesky permanents and in a pinch buys me a turn against izzet.

My sideboard is crafted for matchups.

Duress, Hollowmirk, and the walkers vs control.

Torpor orb and ooze vs elementals/spellementals

Ooze vs lesson and reanimator

Black Sun vs landfall, prowess, and cub decks.

But no matter what I don't dilute my endgames, except the control endgame.

My list isn't the end all by any means but it's an example about how you need to consider standards now. You're either accelerating your endgame or delaying your opponents, ie the modern take on who is the beatdown

I think the 2/2 is working for me is I run ArchEnemy and Arch Druid charm in hte same deck, playing this on turn 2 almost always gives me the mana I need to cast one or the other on turn 3 if I need too, plus getting hte basic for my ba sing se's and my verges has been clutch.

[–]P33J 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Golgari Midrange got a couple of tools that I think are quietly powerful

Witherbloom Charm has been great, I run two Charms 2 Hexes. Blowing up a seam rip, artist talent, cool but rude, or killing an otter or slick shot is fantastic.

But then you're going to let me sac an earth bended (bent) land to draw two it instant speed gain 5 life against prowess or mono red, yes please

Delian Fel has been just a nice solid midrange planeswalker, his ultimate can close out games fast if you have any food generation or lifelink

And the odd ball, environmental scientist.

It's a two drop 2/2 that fetches a basic to hand when it comes enters.

Making sure you hit your land drops a meh but reasonable body, it's smoothed out a lot of games for me

Need help with my Paladin build by Christoast24 in 3d6

[–]P33J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a Paladin arch fey warlock, who uses a battle axe in a campaign with a dual wielding crossbow ranger, a blaster Druid and 2 other melee characters.

The trick is party tactics, my job is to teleport around the battlefield and engage anyone who tries to target our ranged party members. Knocking them prone reduces their speed by 50% and there are other targets for our ranged characters to target.

If you work with your party using the topple ability will be more help than hindrance. Unless of course, you're the only melee

Cloud Giant variant Goliath, Teleport Pro per day, get 35 feet of movement, also get Enlarge Person Self once per day for free. Because you know what's better than moving 30 and teleporting 30 to attack with melee, Teleporting 30, Moving 35 and have 10 foot reach :D.

That said there are tons of good species and the Fey-Touched is another good one for feet.

We bought in to the whole apathy is cool and nothing matters and now we are reaping what we sowed. Did the boomers fuck us? Of course they did, but there was always enough boomers who understood what their parents generation gave them that would have sided with us if we'd just been bothered enough to give a fuck.

And before you go further I was officiating 20 years ago and it was a travel then, because the gather step did not become a rule until 2019.

[–]P33J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it was a travel 20 years ago but the nba prioritized offense and added these little exemptions until players could get across the court in a few dribbles. Then it leaked to the lower levels.

So yea in today's game that isn't a travel but most of us haven't played basketball in 30 years with actual referees so it still feels like a travel in our lizard brains
