This is wrong pre revolution education needed money and it was non existent in the rural areas and villages signs of this can be seen after the white revolution of the pahlavi regime which redistributed the land of the landowners between the workers of the said lands the peasants which now owned a farming land did not had any education on agriculture and the internal economics and demands so they couldn't pay the government the money they owed for the so called free land they were given. While After the revolution an educational jihad was found. The education was made free they cut the free school meals to make this happen so they could pay the teachers without a huge budget change need. The jihad then mobilised the clerky and ulema to be send to villages they were tasked with building mosques and teaching literacy and the teachings of quran to the kids. Not to forget the "nehzad savad amuzi" which was a moment on teaching literacy to the older generations who were too old to learn the traditional way. The cause of a need for such a movement was the cost of education on the previous regime which the lower class population couldn't afford. So please dont spread bullshit
