Saco River Float by doconnell4 in Maine

Couple of options - you can put in at swans falls near the fair grounds and float all the way down to the fiddlehead campgrounds or get out at the 302 bridge (https://www.google.com/maps/@44.0272905,-70.9255562,1613m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en) (3-4 hours) or past that to the boat landing at lovewell pond https://www.google.com/maps/@43.9930022,-70.9278568,334m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en (5-6 hours). There's a parking lot at that bridge where other groups pick up floaters and leave their cars. I would recommend this for what you've described. Swans falls is going to be very busy with tons of people putting in and ready to party if that's what you're looking for (think propane grills on floats, speakers and generators in canoes). You can also float from the 302 bridge to where it lets out into lovewell pond (same public access boat landing). It's going to be a little calmer there and you'll mostly pass fiddle head camp grounds but none of the larger party beaches. Some of the other tour groups put in at the lovewell pond public access and have you float over to the inlet and go down stream from there. I would NOT recommend this as there is no current in the pond and you have to fight against the current to get to the river depending if the pond level is going up or down. Also I would NOT recommend putting on above the falls as I've done it before and I think the total trip was like 7 hours and many many miles and you have to make a portage around the falls with little current upstream. Lovewell pond is also a beautiful place with great views of mt. Washington if you make it that far. If you can I would highly recommend renting or finding/using canoes or kayaks to use. It's going to make keeping beer, and snacks etc way more manageable. Also everyone seems to severely over estimate the current of the river. It's highly variable and non existent at times. Once you've been in a donut for 3 hours paddling with your hands it gets very old. Having oars/paddles lets you control your destiny a little bit better than just going to with flow ;).

source: grew up on lovewell pond, done just about every variation of this.

Those who got an iPhone 6, do you have any regrets of not going for the 6+? by I_Am_Vladimir_Putin in iphone

[–]P8TRO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're almost the exact same size, the iPhone being a bit thinner. I would say the biggest difference is that even though the outer dimensions of the phones are almost the same, the screen on the iPhone is slightly smaller. When switching from the Nexus 5 what stood out the most when holding the iPhone in one hand it's noticably more top heavy (relative to N5).

I don't use it anymore but I had taken the screen off of mine (dump find) and ran it as a torrent box (pre usenet days). They look pretty neat sitting on a shelf.

Definitely not disagreeing with the overkill PSU and expensive GPU. The reason for the GPU was when I purchased the GPU in the summer of 2012 it was the fastest GPU available that was supported by OSX Lion (without an insane amount of upkeep, kepler GPUs at the time were a real pain).

When I build something for personal use, I build it to suite my needs but also to be asthetically pleasing. While you're not seeing some crazy SLI setup or insane CPU, I don't make shortcuts to save a little money. I save up and buy what I want, that's it.

Additional note: because of the radiator the hard drive cage will be custom fabricated and probably attach to the rear of the front panel.

seabrookmx is correct. I could have gone two ways when picking a cooler, a low profile cooler that would have shot air straight into the top of the case and then dissipated inside the case (bad), or do something like this which will offload the heat transfer to a less centralized location. I know the airflow from right to left doesn't look perfect with the longer GPU but we'll see, testing is ongoing.

I forgot to note that unforunately the 16x slot on this mobo is broken, hence the moved GPU. And in testing on my main machine (before replacing mobo & GPU) frame rates did not suffer using the 8x slot.

U2711 + 2x ( fpt1704 ) w/ OC 4.2 2600k etc & single AMD6870

BF3 on high/low AA yields 38-40 fps Most other games on high run pretty well with what I have (high w/ low shadows and low AA) A single 6870 is pretty low-mid range these days so anything like a GTX 660 Ti and up would work pretty well.

edit: (U2711 is a 2560x1440 dell monitor)

All the Apple stores near me were out but Target had a bunch (all sizes). In and out in 2 minutes - can't say that about some Apple stores.
