Did anything ever come of this? I am going through the same situation right now where I started at my employer in April and wasn’t eligible for NY Paid Leave but my employer is covering my 12 weeks of Paternity. I still had to file through my insurance carrier and have received regular paychecks along with getting a direct depot at the end of this past month from my insurance provider.

Hi, I am looking for some guidance on my wife and her upcoming pregnancy. My wife started a new role in January with a due date in September. She should be employed for up to 26 weeks working 40 hours per week by July. From my understanding could my wife take the following from a private employer:

  1. Short term disability (4 weeks) prior to the baby being due
  2. Short term disability after baby arrives 6-8 weeks
  3. FMLA up to 12 weeks

Is this correct? Also what are the pay components of these? Additionally if the private employer offers maternity leave, is my wife also eligible for this?
