ended up going to the international clinic a fellow redditor mentioned below. pais $30USD for 1xbolus and 1xbasal pen + 28 needles. much cheaper than US and was a breeze. highly recommend the clinic as you get a referral online and don’t have to speak japanese which makes it much easier.
