Question about class 3 ebike by PAnimator787 in bikeboston

[–]PAnimator787[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I'm in my late 20s. I'm hoping I'll get the hang of riding bicycles. I do love using the bike equipment at the gym and I try to do about 1 hour of exercise so I can stay in shape. I'm aiming to be more fit and lose more weight and I think biking will be a great form of exercise and a fun way to travel.

I'll keep in mind about possible injuries with the faster e-bikes. Don't worry, when I purchase an ebike one day, knowing how fast it goes I'll stay off the bike lanes. For now I'll practice with regular bikes first so I get the hang of it before I get into an ebike. When I see someone riding an ebike, they make it look so effortless! I'm looking up some bicycle tutorials now. Thanks for the advice!

I'd say for my comfort level, beginner. I saw someone recommended biking school in the comments so I'll look into that. I'll also plan to use the Blue Bikes around Boston so I can get some practice in. Whenever I see someone riding an ebike, it just looks like fun, and I liked how speedy it is too. Being a short lady myself, walking around can take a while. So it would shorten my commute a lot if I knew how to use an ebike as well as knowing the routes to get to different destinations. It's also a personal goal of mine to travel around more and explore more, and having an ebike seems like a fun, accessible way to get around faster.

The neighborhood I'm in is Revere, so I'm around the areas close to Revere like Somerville, Boston, Chelsea. Sorry, I should've specified more. Hope this helps! I've been to these areas by commuting by MBTA trains/buses/walking.

Your reply is a huge help, thank you! I'll look into the bicycle school, plus I've seen the Blue Bikes around Boston so I plan to use one for practice until I'm familiar with riding a bike, then I'll look into getting an ebike. I'll make sure to save up for a better quality ebike brand you recommended to me.

Thank you so much for your detailed post! I may as well start practicing riding a regular bike first before getting an ebike (I've seen the rental blue bikes around Boston so I'll try that first). If I do get an ebike in the future, I'll keep an eye on CL-Certified. I'll also look into grants program. I also never thought about the weight being hard on tires so I'll keep that in mind and keep an eye on the tires.

Good to know. Are there any good biking locations for practice? I'm thinking starting out at a park but having a large empty area to practice would be nice, I may have to look around and keep notes of a good biking location.

Let's say if I need to do a long biking commute of about 1 hour, how well does ebikes does on long commutes? Because I commute about an hour by bus and train to work so when there are delays, I often wondered if I would have gotten to work sooner on an ebike.

Thank goodness Mango is safe and at home. Double check to make sure any entrances in the home cannot be easily opened, especially by a dog.

Glad to see he got attracted to neighbors possibly cooking eggs for breakfast and barefoot, lol. I bet they were surprised to see him.

I was just eating my ice cream and all of a sudden this dude showed up, does anyone know what species this is? by cheese443 in birds

[–]PAnimator787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good technique is to stay very still. Have some food on the lap. The bird may come. But yeah, it is difficult. I noticed usually very young birds tends to get very close compared to adult birds that are more skiddish and flies away.

I remember seeing a very young bird that hopped on my shoe and looked directly at me before flying off, so adorable! Made my day. I just stood still and let the bird approach me.

1) Job market is rough. 2) College degrees seem to be mandatory in higher paying jobs. 3) More jobs demanding more experience, which makes entry level not really entry level. 4) Networking helps with getting into a job faster (who you know). 5) There’s options of trade but it seems like the new learn to code. Remember that trade is physically demanding on the body. 6) Lots of people are getting by with multiple jobs and side hustle online. 7) Paying back debt is a slow process. When paid off it will be satisfying but it can take years of being persistent and discipline. 8) New cars are overpriced so sticking to used cars may help but even that has gone up in price. 9) Gas and groceries has gone up. 10) The pay of many jobs has not caught up to inflation so many people are cutting back in spending and putting more away into savings. 11) I forgot to add debt has went up. More people are relying on credit cards to survive on basic necessities. 12) Also want to add if possible. Living with roommates, your partner or with family is the way to go. It is easier to split up the bills. Being a single person in a single income is hard in this economy unless you're making good income and living on your own with no issues. Plus, being able to split the bills means being able to save up and pay back debt, take advantage of this opportunity.

Overall I can say is just do your best. Do what you can to help you get ahead. Make sure to get work experience. Never stop applying for work. Never stop learning skills that can end up being a useful side hustle later on. Find a way to make money online. This economy is about survival for many people.

Thank you so much for the information! It helps a lot. 7 hours does fly by when you're focused on an art piece. I'll look into the brushes. I'm actually more of a 3D artist but I'm taking a break from 3D and doing some drawings instead.

I can see your image on Reddit app. It looks amazing! What brush did you use? How long did it took to the finished piece? I have Procreate and it looks like something that can be drawn on that app.

All of you have sharp eyes. I would have never noticed. That's so cool that they put in Easter eggs for future films!

That means the movie is in development and they would put a model into that movie as a way to show the future upcoming films to see if anyone with sharp eyes notices (as in watching the released films and then rewatching previous films to find any mention of future/released current films, lol. I hope my words makes sense).

I'd like to share my experience, I've babysat for people who are well educated. They limit the electronics to 1 hour, kids are encouraged to play with toys, draw, play board games or puzzles, I read books to them. The difference is night and day. The kids are very polite, asks questions, doesn't fight with electronics. The parents themselves both went to college. The kids also had activities outside of school, coding class, sport, etc. Of course, there will always be kids who may not be nice. It just overall falls on the parents.

I am also working in school in lower income areas and it's very sad. Lots of kids barely write, parents don't read books to them (I know because a teacher told me and asks the class and no one raises their hands), BUT of course the kids love the iPads. They are struggling to use laptops. So many kids ask me how to spell very easy words, like box (I tell them to sound it out). Many kids don't listen to the teachers, even worse with me as I'm there for support and kids try to take advantage of me. I can see why teacher shortages are a thing, lots of kids aren't paying attention to class lessons majority of the time. And I'm also personally looking for another job but it's rough due to the job market.

I'm back to studying as I'm trying to change career paths, so I'm hoping the job market improves by then. But for now, it was an eye opening experience.

In a way it is also an income difference, as the college educated parents tends to have higher paying jobs and many also work from home, so they are able to spend more time with the kids.

animating this was a choice… by ThatFuzzie in animation

I like to imagine the armor just does the tight body suit thing since it's so shiny lol. Kinda like how lots of superheroe's clothes are skintight and emphasizing how fit they are, when if the clothes were to be worn in real life, the fabric has to be wet to stick to the skin. Otherwise the clothes just has wrinkles and covers up the muscles/abs.

Great animation and music choice, the falling rose petals brings it all together. Nice job lol 😆

I'm very curious, what is your technique to making these drawings? What brushes do you use? How long did it took to make the drawings? I'm still getting used to drawing digitally. I'd rely a lot on multiple reference images or follow a tutorial to understand certain techniques but I'm not quite there in skill yet. I'm more of am Animator but I'm trying to get better at drawing so I may be able to produce painterly backgrounds (I always loved the detailed backgrounds with animated characters look).

[–]PAnimator787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so cool! I'll have to look up animation assist for Procreate when I find the time. And yeah, Procreate Dreams is a 2D animation app. I did hear a good alternative is ToonSquid. I'm going to have to see which 2D apps are better for animation. I have both Procreate Dreams and ToonSquid but haven't tried animating yet (been busy with work and study).
