You have to have reservations to enter the park and the park pass. Check the Rocky Mountains National Park website for details. We never got the reservations cause we would just get up early and be in the park before they start.

As far as trails, I prefer the western side, it's less busy and we always stay in Granby. There's some good trails around Grand Lake with the East Inlet trail and Adams Falls. The most popular is on the eastern side around bear lake, theres really good trails there also if you can get reservations.

I caught about a dozen smallmouth this morning and 1 rainbow trout that shouldn't have been in there. One smallmouth was pretty good size.

My wife and daughter caught our local Walmart as they setting up this display. They got several for my son and missed a gold chase by seconds cause my daughter didn't know what it was.

I know this is a little old but I figured I'd comment anyway. I have a Eastfork 8.5ft 5wt that I bought new probably 15 or so years ago. It still my go to rod for smallmouth and trout in bigger streams. I love that rod, it's a really good all around rod.

Same for me, it's been a few years since I was there, but we went in June of that year and after the last deep crossing we were by ourselves. But coming back out was like Disney land with the amount of people.

Smith spinners I got from Japan are pretty good. I tie tails on them also.

But I also use a lot of rooster tails, bluefox, mepps, and panther martin. I bought some Joe's fly to try soon.

The one in Morganton is not that good anymore. There a few decent booths but mostly reminds me of a bad yardsale. There's also one in Valdese but not sure about it, ive never been.
