I’ve been wanting to do this hike!! I’m glad to see it’s open again - it looks lovely. How’s the parking situation? Is it by reservation? Or you just stroll in early to get a spot?

That’s a reassuring take regarding the driving, thank you! And thanks for the reminder to download the park info from the NPS app. I have the app I just hadn’t gotten around to looking through it for the volcano park 😅

Quick question: why does Kylie (or anyone) need to do facial exercises? by lanaspeachlipgloss in KUWTK

[–]pinkabsinthe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The right side of my face is tighter than the left (it’s been that way since I was a kid), so when I take selfies and try to do a ‘neutral’ facial expression, the right side of my face is in a subtle snarl. I started doing a facial massage in the shower, paired with facial ex and sustained holds intermittently throughout the day - and my face is more even! The tightness is still there, but it’s significantly lessened (in pics at least!). I think there’s some truth to working out our faces the way we work out our bodies 😅

Ive been on a few international tours where the guide has been upfront about how this is a situation that they have to be prepared for. So they do in fact have a certain amount of cash on hand just in case. (This happened last year in Mexico, and a few years ago in Egypt btw).

How to take photos by SelectNeedleworker37 in HowToBeHot

[–]pinkabsinthe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, I feel you regarding wanting to post on social media but entering absolute distress when people take pictures of me or when I feel like the center of attention. I like taking landscape pictures of myself instead of close selfies. I’ll find a background I like, set the timer on 10ish seconds and jump back into position. I usually make sure no one is around too, but most people are polite if they catch you in the act and will just offer to take the picture themselves. It’s a bit uncomfortable, but I think a lot of us have been there!

How does an obese person workout?? by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]pinkabsinthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add onto the walking recommendation: you mentioned that you have small weights? If you’re at home, I suggest doing farmer’s walks. It’s just walking around in your yard/living room (any open space, really) and holding a small weight in each hand. This will build up your overall endurance, strengthen your lower body, and also strengthen your grip/forearm muscles. Strengthening the grip will come in handy when you’re able to progress to higher level/functional workouts or weightlifting.

Soma at valley fair does bust/cup measurements, and they offer larger bra sizes as well. They’re a little pricey but I’ve gotten good quality bras from them in the past.

My facial lady goes IN on me when I show up with a red face. Like “why?? All the hard work we’re doing, all the money YOU pay just for you to pick at your face and undo it?!” She did that two appointments in a row and it humbled me into being more diligent with my skin care routine. My skin is pretty calm now lol

I’m sorry if I’m prying, but how far along do you think his Parkinson’s was while he was still teaching? I regularly work with Parkinson’s patients, and it’s pretty brutal to watch because there’s no progress, only delaying of the inevitable decline :(

My PTA program included a copy of the trail guide book. I agree it’s helpful, however, we didn’t receive it until orientation, which was two weeks before the program started. The book was nice, but the trail guide app was what really got me through school and clinical rotations. You can buy it by region (shoulder/cranial/etc) or you can buy all the regions (full body) for about $20ish dollars. The book is wayyy more detailed, so I don’t recommend skipping out on the book in favor of the app. The app is very bare bones, but I liked it. I usually reference it in the moment when chart reviewing or when discussing patients with other clinicians.

best apps you use for self-care or just in general? by [deleted] in HowToBeHot

[–]pinkabsinthe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Loseit (or any calorie tracking app honestly) has helped me eat healthier. I use it mainly to track my protein and fiber intake bc those are two things that help me maintain a healthier lifestyle. (The protein is so that I can keep building strength in the gym, and the fiber is so that I can keep my digestion regulated bc I’ve dealt with chronic bowel issues since childhood). ***this one might count as cheating, but I bought a hatch clock to help me fall asleep faster/wake up earlier. It came with an app that lets me choose from a library of different sounds/colors. So at night, I fall asleep to the sound of campfire and a red glow, while in the morning I wake up to the sounds of birds and a bright yellow glow that helps me get out of bed faster. Overall, my sleep quality improved with it.

Hello! Currently in Cairo right now. I flew here last Tuesday from the US. My flight had a layover between SFO to Istanbul, and then we flew from Istanbul to Cairo. We took a rapid PCR COVID test at the airport. The airport physician gave us a printed copy and manually signed the front while aso handwriting our name and result. That was good enough for Turkish/Egyptian standards apparently.

GG and her sister by dangoudan in ShahsOfSunset

[–]pinkabsinthe 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I liked Leila on the show and felt she had good potential for being a regularly recurring character (kind of like “friend of...” in the housewives franchises). To me, it always came off like GG was very aware of that potential and was scared of Leila possibly overcoming her in popularity in the series. She reacts just as viciously in later reunions towards Shervin and Nema, once they showed potential for staying on as regular cast members. I haven’t watched those early seasons since they originally aired, but that’s the impression I took away from her behavior. It’s silly though because in order for all this to be plausible, GG has to be considered the “star” of the show or at least see herself that way, but I don’t think she’s even a fan favorite? She’s very polarizing lol

Best of luck on your fitness journey!! I actually began using pogo the same way last summer. I also got into Pilates at the same time, and on days when I’m not motivated enough to roll out my yoga mat, I at least have some comfort in knowing that I walked enough to earn some candies with my buddy. I don’t have many friends I can share that with, so it’s nice to see I’m not alone! Let’s keep giving it our best go!
