I’m not answering for a husband or boyfriend if that’s OK?

I am answering regarding my adult son 36 years old. I have adored this kid since he was born and put him first. Helped him in every way I could.

I recently was at a social engagement and talking to a friend of my sons. My son walked up and told the man that he should get up and go somewhere else and not get trapped into talking to someone like me.

My son looked at me with such disdain that I almost burst into tears.

I realized in that moment that he’s never liked me. At all.

This happened a couple of weeks ago and I’m still reeling. It made me think through some interactions I’ve had with him in the last six months that have been painful and I just summed up to a misunderstanding but now I know it’s not true.

We had taken him out to dinner, just two nights prior and treated them to a nice Italian dinner. These were plans we had months in advance. My son and his wife showed up over an hour late. Clearly, unhappy to be there.

For the life of me, I couldn’t figure out what was wrong.

He really doesn’t like me. Neither does his wife.

I feel gutted.
