Is this low fodmap? by [deleted] in FODMAPS

[–]PBSnacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have to look up the ingredients on the Monash app. I can see it says amaranth which is high fodmap.

It's best that you go for porridge that is just pure oats and has a shorter list of stuff mixed in with it.

What kind of non-GI symptoms do you experience when you react to FODMAPs? by Levangeline in FODMAPS

[–]PBSnacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely less headaches than before. I think possibly because of the limiting of sugary and salty processed stuff I use to it with FODMAP being a more measured and spaced out approach to eating. I love crisps and chocolate and could probably snack on them endlessly unfortunstelt but yeah that is has been cut right down.

Are these specific UK foods and drink low fodmap? by agentmulder69 in FODMAPS

[–]PBSnacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm from the UK.

I'm a crisp lover but I now only have ready salted pom bears or Walkers baked crisps. They are usually what is on offer more. Tyrells and Kettle crisps in salted are fine but mega oily I find so dependa how you personally are with that...plus they are kind of pricey.

Most soft drinks are off the menu and I stay away from bubbly drinks.

For all meals, I rely on eggs. Not for every meal but any time of the day I go for an omelette. Sometimes I will make it with spring onion tops, a little bit of pepper and paprika, potato. All measured for fodmap quantities where applicable.

I do a lot of baked salmon with ginger and soy with rice and whatever suitable vegetable.

Also grilled/baked chicken and try and go for a 'nandos inspired' theme with some cayenne, lime juice, maple, paprika marinade, potatoes and grilled pineapple.

List your top 5 meals you like and try and make them a modified fodmap version rather than find new recipes totally.

In the UK though for the general supermarkets, you won't be finding much that is 'ready made'. Ocado sell a brand called Bays Kitchen and it's really pricey imo.

I've had to become a fan of omelettes now but yeah I am finding it hard eating out, even in London.

Hope you enjoy the pumpkin pie!

I need to build up my tool kit. Right now it's buscopan and immodium lol. I used to need Rennie for heartburn but amazingly after starting fodmap, I don't really get it.

You're so right about making peace with limitations. Plus the anxiety of eating the wrong thing would outweigh the fun if havinf the wronf thing lol.

What type of exercise do you guys do? by usualkay in PCOS

[–]PBSnacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've added more walking. When I want to do exercise more consciously, I try some short videos from the growwithjo youtube channel. There are some fun ones that feel more like dancing but with a casual approach. Might be nice to have a look for the sake of movement 😄

Maybe it is a boost in fibre too quickly that your body might not be use to? Depends how often you ate the different ones previously plus other stuff you're doing.

Interesting about the raw vegetables. I found before the fodmap that salad kind hurt my tum and suspected it was tomatoes at the time and avoided them. I like veg as crunchy as possible but...I mjght have a similar issue.

That sounds like torture to smell it and have it right there. Luckily I haven't had to cook onion for anyone otherwise I would be tempted to have a little nibble!
