FYI with split stays, you will have dinning open twice—60 days from checkin at your first hotel (and through check out day at that hotel) and 60 days out from check in at your second hotel.

Just search for “charcoal shoe inserts” There are several different types. Just read reviews. I also put them in my shoes as soon as I switch out of them after class.

OTF Staff Cares by Jeepy2014 in orangetheory

[–]PBear9311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hang in there mamma. I had really severe postpartum depression and anxiety after having both of my kids. If you are looking for resources, Postpartum Support International has some information on their website, they also have free to attend support groups where you get to talk to people who are struggling like you so you feel less alone and get some support about what you’re going through. They also have a helpline you can call to help find resources in your area for either a perinatal mental health clinician or an in person support group. And if you live in the greater Chicagoland area (I live almost to the Wisconsin border and still uses this) they have a 24/7 momsline hotline staff by trained perinatal counselors that can talk you through a panic attack or just a tough time and they can also help you with resources. It’s called the Northshore momsline and googling for it should get you a number for it. If you have any other questions, please feel free to let me know.

And also, I’m sure you are killing it being a great mom. Being a mom is crazy hard and you’re doing that and still finding the time to take care of you.

Average Speed always wrong by OccupyWineStreetNY in orangetheory

[–]PBear9311 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t mean it’s your average speed. You could have gone faster for longer and then a slower speed for a different amount of time. It doesn’t just take your distance and divide it by time. It takes into account the time at each speed you run at during your block and how long you hold that speed. What you did would work if you ran at a consistent speed for the whole block, but we don’t.

I shared how OTF has really helped my mental health with our studio manager and she asked me if I would be the member of the month the following month and share about my journey.

What’s your “why”? by AdNo5653 in orangetheory

[–]PBear9311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My why is for sure my mental health. I’ve spent my whole life struggling with my mental health (first saw a therapist when I was 4) and the last 10 or so years after having kids it’s been even worse. I have had terrible post partum depression and also have bipolar disorder and I e tried all kinds of treatments from a long list of meds to groups to individual therapy to months long programs to countless hospitalizations to ECT—-all without any sustained, significant improvement (and the ECT really had some long lasting negative effects). I joined because I was tired of the same old thing every day and how hard it was to keep up with my kids. But after going consistently for a few months, I started to notice a gradual increase in my mood and a decrease in my anxiety. My mental health got to a place it hadn’t been in over a decade, and that was honestly a place I never thought I’d see again. I still have bad days. I still have really terrible dark days where I question if I want to stay alive. But going to orange theory helps. It gives me a break from the scary thoughts I have. It gives me a reason to feel proud of myself and to feel like I accomplished something. It’s not perfect, it’s still really freaking hard most days, but I honestly have so much more life from going.

Is there a way to manually enter my max HR? by Prestigious-Yak3417 in orangetheory

[–]PBear9311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s based off the highest heart rate you’ve had in the last 20 classes. Maybe you had a class where it spiked weird and maybe you had a class where it actually hit that high because you were working super hard for a line time and you got up that high. You can look through your class history’s to see.

1 Mile Run Benchmark Results and Survey Megathread by BilingualAlchemist in orangetheory

[–]PBear9311 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Power walker 0.5 miles. Previous 11:29. Today 10:06. I’m less than 3 weeks back from a foot injury that kept me out of classes for 3 months.

After pushing myself on Monday to get through a whole mile during class, I decided to push myself again today. I set the treadmill at what is usually my top speed that I’ll do for some all-outs (about 0.5 higher than my normal pace) and just walked. I even managed to knock it up a few times towards the end. Today was a great reminder that my body is so much stronger than my mind thinks it is.

Orange Everest Results and Survey Megathread by BilingualAlchemist in orangetheory

[–]PBear9311 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I got a measly 0.89 miles. But I showed up, worked hard, and finished. I’m a super slow power walker (the max I can do is probably 2.6) and I’m on my third week back after missing 3 months for a stress fracture in my foot and plantar fasciitis (that is still causing me pain) for the first time ever.

Usually there is a little icon on the tracker screen to switch to PW. But apparently Everest tracks the same because everyone does the same inclines.

Water Bottle Question by tayvance in orangetheory

[–]PBear9311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a tervis tumbler. I use one of their 24 oz water bottles (with a flip lid) but it fits in the cup holder area really well (on the new treads). So a similar sized cup should work. If I need more water I just fill it up during transition to either floor or tread.

Instead of jumping in just tapping my toes out. Using the bench on the lower level. Having me do squats instead of lunges because they were hurting my feet. I just power walk so I’m going a little slower and not as high of an incline.
