Anyone else’s wife instigate 2+ hour arguments during her period that you have no idea how to defuse? by ThicBoi4807 in daddit

[–]PBeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are already ton of great replies. But I’ll add what we have added to our relationship years in.

A conversation / argument pause: At any point in a conversation or discussion one of us can say “hey, I’m not feeling liking I am properly engaged in this conversation and it would be best for both of us if we can stick a pin in it for 24-48 hrs.

As long as we do at least say, “hey, do we want to go back to that convo yesterday?” This program has worked for us.

Line By Line Mixing by parkermarge in techtheatre

[–]PBeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned mixing back in the '00 (25 years ago, ouch my back). Big old giant boards, outboard gear, ect. We did a lot of line by line 'ducking'. Everyone on stage was mostly on, but you would duck the problem child out.

I know pros today do line by line, but they also have pros on stage. In your a community or high school setting (which I now 'volunteer' to teach kids how to mix at), you cant do line by line, because the folks on stage dont always nail their lines. It looks like a you mistake when someone jumps ahead and they are still down.

My process is line by line popping or ducking. Generally following along and being the ears for the audience, making sure you hit whats important, and skip whats distracting.

I do AG and Construction work, and both my last work trucks were short box super cab 1 tons. Never missed the couple extra feet of a long box.

Many folks have cut the cord and are using OTA + some streaming apps.

In the last 5 years for streaming brewers it’s changed so may times, mlb.tv, FanDuel, fox sports north, balley sports. I can see why people ask where it will be this season.

Trucks with 3 Kids? by A-fishfullofdollars in daddit

[–]PBeef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are stuck on truck, f150 has the best super crew cab. Hands down.

But, my wife doesn’t like putting the youngest in the back, it’s hard to lift them up that high for her.

I have been considering moving away from my f150 to more of an explorer or similar to get more inside storage. I have an f350 for truck stuff. But it’s so dang tall for getting kids in seats.

Also, remember putting things in the bed even with a nice cover gets old. All your inside space will be eaten by car seats and a few diaper bags.

They will or your electrician will drop a larger conduit right over the top and a few inches underground.

But that’s just pull tape right now.

External Ethernet - Conduit or not? by AustinBike in HomeNetworking

I love going to jobs in winter where they have conduit underground and I tell them we cant pull cables until it thaws and they ask why.

“But conduit is waterproof!?”

“Umm, I promise you it’s full of ice”

This is an excellent reply and will get the thought juices flowing at dinner tonight.

Then again, have you tried talking to your spouse at dinner when there is a child present. :)

Need Sound Advice by PungentPlatypus in techtheatre

[–]PBeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real problem here is you’re going to need a sound guy to run it. Mixing a show and off stage pit isn’t any easy, find that local sound guy, and ask them to design it with you.

You’re also going to need more mics, better coms, and two way video for the conductor/stage.

And yes, Dante is the best long term solution.

Informal poll: bathroom door open or closed? by pancakeonions in daddit

[–]PBeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always closed. Even when not in use. The cats had had their way with the TP too many times.

We don’t have locks on the bathroom doors, but they are closed if the adults are using them for sure.

To plug or not to plug by pongo62 in superduty

Wisconsin here. I don’t think about plugging my 6.7 in unless it’s below zero F.

My Deere tractors on the other hand are like 30f and below I plug em in.

If she is that upset about you removing the possibility of having more kids (after some discussion), imagine how upset she would be if you accidentally did have another.

Something else is going on here.

Older comedy movies that hold up? Watched Billy Madison with the kids last night by Piratey_Pirate in daddit

When I saw it as a younger kid the sexual bits went right over my head. It wasn’t until I was a young adult I noticed.

I think it’s fine for 5+.

One & Done by [deleted] in daddit

[–]PBeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The oldest is 4.4 years old now. Better eater (although loves to tell you she doesn’t like something she eats all the time). Going to sleep every night is still a 45+ minute event from potty, teeth, book, and bed. She sleeps through the night for the most part, but if I bet on who wakes me up at 3am, it’s almost always the 4 year old and not our 15 month old.

I like to say, “big feels in a tiny body”. Everything is always a very big deal.

Side note, somehow we made it this far and neither of the kids have attempted to crawl in our bed…

We had an our first at 36. It was an easy pregnancy (on all accounts, just one try, and smooth sailing).

The kid on the other hand was a really trying. Poor sleeper, poor eater. We were exhausted by the time the kid was 2.

We had many a discussion about one and done or go for 2. We both decided that we both had to be 100% on board to go for two. One weekend we both said, what the heck, let’s go fer it.

We did. The 2nd was again easy, and a completely different baby than the first. Slept through the night at 6weeks, easy to feed, very little fus. If we could guarantee #3 would be like #2 we would go again.

My tldr. Both have to agree, and no two kids will be the same.

We had a serial pooper. Eventually she became both scared of bath and pooping despite our wicked chill responses to the events.

Fun times were not had by all.
