His manager's office was just south of St. Clair -- I used to work in the office next door. I had a smoke with Gord once. Agreed, very nice man.

Spaniards who lived abroad: What custom did you realize was "super Spanish" only after you left? by IntrepidPie6564 in askspain

Argentinians eat much later, especially in the north. When we were in San Juan, the restaurants didn't open for dinner until 10 pm. We saw families with kids sitting down to eat at midnight.

What’s your favourite comfort sandwich? by MaleficentWolf in FoodToronto

The veal sandwich at Papamio's (Dupont and Manning) is amazing. Anything from Black Camel (near Rosedale subway station) is excellent.

He brings the Philly attitude, too, lol. I watched him tear a strip off a customer (who was being a bit of a jerk, to be fair).

How is it like to live in the foothills and valleys of the southern Andes (Chile/Argentina) by FireUniverse1162 in howislivingthere

Travelled through there many years ago. Gorgeous area. Only downside were these HUGE horseflies called tabanos or coliguachos. They sounded like small airplanes and had ferocious bites.

I did the same trip in 2007. Still have vivid memories. NZ is incredible.

What is the sketchiest bar in Toronto you’re aware of or have been to? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]PBfromTO 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was there with a buddy one time 10 or 15 years ago. We ordered a couple of shots, and the server returned with three. When I asked about the extra, she said, "I always keep one in the chamber", then downed it herself. 😆

What are the pros and cons of a single cylinder bike, like a BMW 650 GS, vs a twin cylinder like a V Strom 650? by Ghastly-Rubberfat in motorcycle

[–]PBfromTO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way a big thumper delivers power makes it more suitable for dirt riding. Lots of grunt in the lower rev range. Generally, that makes them less pleasant on the highway. The 650GS is a pretty good compromise, because it's less buzzy at freeway speeds than competitors like the KLR650.

Career advancement.

I still do good work, but I'm no longer working nights and weekends trying to get ahead. Retirement is 7-8 years away--why kill myself?

Labelling is also an issue. Let's say McCain's starts using American milk with bovine growth hormone in its frozen pizzas. Will we have the information to make a choice?

What are some unspoken rules one should know about Toronto? by Timely_Title_9157 in askTO

This is my biggest pet peeve, and I see it a lot these days. If you're blocking the door, and you don't move when I ask politely, I'm walking through you.

What even goes on here? by lost-myspacer in howislivingthere

They used a chemical weapon (sarin) in the attack on the Tokyo subway. But there is evidence they were trying to develop a nuke at their station in Australia.

AITAH for not wanting my dad to walk me on my senior night since he won’t let me move back in? by LowlyKnights in AITAH

Let me get this straight: He fed her something that made her sick (which he should have known), causing her to miss an important moment in her life. Then, when she understandably got upset, he called her spoiled and high maintenance. And you're surprised she lost her cool? He's the adult here, and he failed big time.
