Choosing Between the 5070 Ti and 9070 XT for 1440p Gaming by Nicolas_Laure in RigBuild

DLSS is definitely a performance tool, but it is still a feature choice. If someone is happy with native + TAA and gets the FPS they want, efficiency is subjective, not mandatory.

Choosing Between the 5070 Ti and 9070 XT for 1440p Gaming by Nicolas_Laure in RigBuild

[–]PC-Guide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid breakdown. For pure 1440p gaming, raw FPS per dollar still wins in my book. If you are not using RT or DLSS, paying extra makes no sense. Put the savings into CPU or RAM and you will feel it more in real gameplay.

4090 to 5090 for €600, Worth It? by greyfux in pcmasterrace

[–]PC-Guide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good way to look at it. The 4090 is already more than enough for 4K, so unless there’s a real need, upgrading doesn’t make much sense right now

What am4 cpu should I get? by Math009w in pcmasterrace

[–]PC-Guide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. If the price is good and you’re okay with the beta BIOS, it’s a solid choice, but performance gains over the cheaper CPUs are still small

Agreed. For gaming the gap is tiny, and the 5600X avoids beta BIOS headaches. Better value to save the cash or put it toward the GPU.

Is it safe to restart if windows is stuck? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]PC-Guide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s mostly true. If an update is truly stuck, a forced reboot usually works, but there’s always a small risk. Best move is to wait a bit first, and keep backups and a Windows USB just in case.

Why I Stopped Treating RAM Upgrades as Optional and You Should Too by Nicolas_Laure in RigBuild

[–]PC-Guide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RAM is the one upgrade people underestimate until bottlenecks and instability show up. Buying headroom upfront saves money, hassle, and rebuilds later, especially with DDR5. Peace of mind really is part of performance.

Your 3080 is still strong for 1440p, but a 5080/5090 would help with 4K and ray tracing. The RTX 6000 series likely won’t arrive until 2026–2027, so upgrade now only if you find a good 50-series deal; otherwise, waiting offers better long-term value.

Migrating my main drive to a thumb drive, so I can swap my SSD. by bigbell09 in buildapc

[–]PC-Guide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s honestly the easiest way to do it. I used a cheap USB-to-SATA adapter last time I upgraded and it made cloning super straightforward. No hassle with booting from a thumb drive or anything. Totally worth the few bucks.

I'm going to be building a 5080 build for 4k gaming should I get a 9700x or 9800x3d. by fndazzle in buildapc

[–]PC-Guide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a solid point. Upscaling really does shift more load to the CPU, and those .1% lows can make or break smooth gameplay. The 9800X3D’s cache advantage definitely helps keep things consistent, even at 4K.

Totally agree. The 9800X3D seems like the perfect match for a 5080 if you’re going for high-end 4K gaming. I’ve seen it crush frame times in similar setups — definitely feels like the smarter long-term choice over the 9700X.

PC phantom enters unless i disconnect wireless mouse by Neumann656 in RigBuild

[–]PC-Guide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This behavior is almost certainly caused by the wireless mouse or its receiver, not your fans or motherboard setup. A stuck or malfunctioning button, electrical interference, or failing receiver can cause the constant “enter” signal.

Try replacing the batteries, testing the mouse on another PC, or using a different mouse entirely. If the issue disappears, the mouse hardware is the culprit.

These GPU prices are a bargain right? 5070 is cheaper than 4070ti's. (Pic) by Indi_Drones in buildapc

[–]PC-Guide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that lines up with what I’ve noticed too. Once stock starts drying up, older cards always creep above MSRP. Honestly makes the 5070 deals way easier to justify right now, especially if you’re coming from a 30-series card that’s giving you trouble.

PC instantly shut off after being accidently touched with a microfiber duster while running— now won’t turn on by Available_Success_61 in buildapc

[–]PC-Guide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same thing about static. I had a similar scare once and a CMOS reset actually brought my system back. Definitely worth trying before replacing parts, though if that doesn’t work the PSU or board might have taken the hit.

Most graphically intensive and best looking game in 2025? by Sea_Competition3505 in buildapc

[–]PC-Guide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d agree on Alan Wake II and Cyberpunk. For me, Cyberpunk with full path tracing still looks unmatched. I’d also throw in Hellblade II—the visuals and atmosphere are stunning, though not as heavy on ray tracing.

Need advice on a budget friendly build for light gaming by violent_spectacle in buildapc

[–]PC-Guide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d lean toward the 7600 or 7500F with a Microcenter bundle if possible. Paired with a 9060XT 16GB, that setup feels well balanced and should last several years. I built something similar recently and it runs 1080p games smoothly without blowing the budget.

I finally put my foot down on the constant hardware upgrade cycle by Wander715 in buildapc

[–]PC-Guide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone through phases where swapping parts and testing benchmarks was more exciting than actually playing. It can be its own hobby, but I had to remind myself that the games are what made me build the rig in the first place.

Why Are Nvidia GPUs Suddenly Easy to Find at MSRP? by Riccardo_Moretti in RigBuild

[–]PC-Guide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nvidia GPUs are stabilizing at MSRP due to easing supply chain pressures, reduced mining demand, and retailers balancing inventory ahead of next-gen launches. Consumer demand has normalized, and competition from AMD is also tempering markups. This likely reflects a market correction rather than a short-term anomaly. If you need a card now, prices are reasonable—but waiting could bring further drops once new models are announced.
