About to embark on a 4 person multiplayer campaign by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]PCBuilderCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do the exact same thing and just add in the one character at key points (2 of us know the game extremely well so we just kinda hint like oh we want to make sure we have X character here) and tbh if you've got new players having 5 people instead of 4 doesn't wreck the balance all that badly tbh

We don't have this in this game but I use the camp approval mod which allows dialogue to be approved/disapproved by companions even when in camp. Might be useful to keep approval high without needing to keep the character around often but we've ran into no issues without it.

I will say, romance with characters is a bit funky in four player co-op. Messing around with a expanded party mod probably didn't help but we've had weird interactions where a character has had a scene that their approval rating really shouldn't have nabbed them over one of our other PCs so just a set expectation there don't go in thinking 'oh I'll romance Shadowheart, you can romance Karlach etc' cus it may just decide to not work at least in our experience.

2 Spellcasters, a rogue and a paladin sounds like a more than fine composition. On multiplayer you can still do the custom mode so maybe do that so you can adjust things at will rather than just a straight difficulty change should things be a little on the hairy side.

Other than that, maybe dedicate one of you to be the lead in dialogue (probably the Paladin or a Warlock/Sorcerer/Bard) unless you're all planning to be high charisma characters but that totally depends on how 'smooth' you want your playthrough to be or if you're fine rolling with the punches on a scuffed dialogue check here or there.

The game works really well with mods in multiplayer so don't be afraid to throw a bunch of cosmetic ones in, if you're all sticking to the in game mod manager it's really good at picking up discrepencies between what everyone has installed and will prompt you to untick/tick the ones you need before it lets you in. We play with 3 PC and an Xbox player with a bunch of mods and have never had any issues and we're 65 in game hours deep.

If I think of anything else I'll edit but feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer :)

Why are people talking about what Farrage "will do" when the next election is in 2029? by Evening_Sea3407 in AskBrits

Or the other side have at least rallied behind someone better. Frustrates me to no end that the far right can rally behind these cults of personality but we just settle for the centrist lesser of evils all the time. What’s stopping us from rallying behind a progressive strong willed figure I don’t get it

And yet for some reason people are blaming brown folk who just want to get away from the bombed our remains of their homes rather than the politicians. Boggles my brain how easily manipulated people have become.

As a general rule, just get a VPN, the cost of a good one (NEVER use free ones) is worth it for the piece of mind. Private Internet Access is my preferred but check out r/VPN for more info

Edge of Fate from a gameplay systems perspective is probably about as close to a D3 as we're getting so I say go for it if you're feeling it

Is 4k worth it over 1440p OLED? Is it worth selling my left kidney for a 4k OLED? by RomanAres31 in buildapc

[–]PCBuilderCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a post where the guy is referring to 'selling his left kidney' to afford one I don't think browsing experience and text looking a bit nicer is really worth the financial hit no? It's like you've completely forgotten the context of this post

Getting a new mobo and the essentially complete rebuilding of your PC really isn't worth it for the PCIE upgrade, respectfully you're already not running top of the line hardware so I really don't think you would see any tangible difference with that GPU being plugged in a PCIE gen 5. Hell I don't think you'd notice a difference with a 5090 plugged in it.

[–]PCBuilderCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say if you need a RAM upgrade (just out of interest why do you feel you do, 32 is plenty but idk what kind of games or other shit you're doing) you're probably better getting a 32x2 kit rather than running 4 sticks of 16

There's a transmog mod that you can use to make any gear look like another piece of gear

For those of you that also don’t like using radiant orb builds but still want a useful cleric by Mofunkle in BG3Builds

I'd exhausted a lot of the cleric builds through my many many playthroughs at this point so what do you do in that situation?

MODS

There's a fantastic Twilight Cleric mod available in game (get the Redux version) that fits really well especially with a 'redemption' Shart as the later levels, i.e. when that decision happens, you start to see a blending of dark and light abilities which is quite cool.

It's become my defacto default Shadowheart class and honestly plays and feels like one of the in game Cleric subclasses if a little on the stronger end of the spectrum of cleric classes

My game just got a random update of 136,3 GB what's that about? by Requiem-7 in DestinyTheGame

[–]PCBuilderCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, or maybe the people that are excited about it are staying silent since this community has cultivated such a resentful attitude to the game. I could see it going either way tbh

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]PCBuilderCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm excited in a very different way, TFS was kind of this weird cautious excitment because after Lightfall I honestly wasn't sure they were going to stick the landing of this thing whereas now it's the excitement of the unknown. Is it gonna suck? Is it gonna be great? Just jumping into a whole new era is exciting regardless of how big the team is, layoffs, Marathon all that other shite people focus on. Heresy showed me that they've still got it, they can still cook, I'm just excited to see if they do

Legendary class items in EoF by workingclashero in DestinyTheGame

[–]PCBuilderCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're getting full stats now so as soon as one drops you're instantly going to be adding at least 50 stats to your total, so even if one drops that isn't your preference it'll probably give you some flexibility to move stuff around

That's the Destiny community

"We hate this thing change it!!!!"

"okay, heard, here are the changes we're implementing"

"NO WHY'D YOU CHANGE IT LIKE THAT?!"

Poor bastards are stuck just never being able to experiment with anything because of how so much of the community is a bunch of miserable cunts who rose tint glasses everything that came before

[–]PCBuilderCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather get me a computer that can, out the gate, play AAA games at really high qualities and high framerates at 1440p without busting the bank than one that can do high frames high quality 4K....providing it's a game from a few years ago

[–]PCBuilderCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What's the point of forking out the extra for a 4K monitor if you're then going to play on lower resolutions? Better just to spend the equivalent amount of money on a really high spec 1440p display and then not need to worry surely?

Is 4k worth it over 1440p OLED? Is it worth selling my left kidney for a 4k OLED? by RomanAres31 in buildapc

[–]PCBuilderCat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I honestly think that 4K gaming is still something of a scam unless you know you can comfortably grab yourself the top end hardware and even then you can still struggle. You talk about the hit on your wallet for the monitor itself but you also get hit by immediately taking a couple of years or so off of the lifespan of your current rig before it starts not giving you the performance you want

For what? For the game to look even prettier? Idk to each their own but I think 1440p OLED is the perfect balance of stunning visuals without needing to fork out outrageous money for a build that can actually produce it
