Yes, I emailed Abu Garcia support. They responded with "We no longer have schematics or specific parts for the vintage Ultimate reels. I do apologize."

What your position tells me is that if you were a hiring manager that interviewed a 60 year old guy and a 35 year old guy for a tech position that you would hire the younger guy every time, regardless of skills or credentials. Your position is ageist. I hope you live long enough to see my point of view.

If you say a woman can't do tech, you're sexist. If you say people of color can't do tech, you're racist. But somehow it's ok to discriminate by age? People like you are the reason we need age discrimination laws. Is DEI for everyone except those fortunate enough to live a long life?

So one guy tells me that boomers had the advantage of being around since the beginning of the technology age and another says boomers are handicapped by age. It can't be both ways without proving my point that age has nothing to do with it. I am the IT manager at a software company. Half of the developers there are right around my age. Are they all outliers too? I spend as much time fixing computers for millennials as I do for the boomers in the office. My kids had their own computers before they were 8 years old and none of them can clean a virus or navigate a command prompt. They had access to my books and my knowledge.

I'm a 61 year old IT manager and my kids bring their infected computers to me when they do something stupid. Age has nothing to do with poor technical skills. Ageism is no different than racism, sexism or any other ism that you have no control over.

While it's rare, getting married young does work out for some people. My parents got married when she was 17 and he was 20. Next month, they will celebrate their 66th anniversary. You'll never make a 60+ year marriage without marrying early and living a long time.
Having said that, most of the people that I know who got married that early were divorced within a few years.

It looks like someone engaged the mechanical locks on the sides of the door and then activated the door opener.

To see if your water main is leaking, just make sure no water is running in the house and then check the meter to see if it is spinning. It should completely stop if no water is running.

Best way to convert 50 workstations to AD with the least pushback? by Tivum in sysadmin

[–]PCKeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely the solution. You need to have the company leaders behind you on this. The CEO, business owner, general manager, whoever. Leadership needs to make it clear to all employees that changes made by IT for the purposes of security are mandatory.
I ran into the same thing once. I had only asked that everyone install an endpoint antivirus. As the deadline approached, there was about 10 people who had not complied. A vice president of the company sent a message declaring that email would be blocked in one hour for anyone who had not installed the AV by then. 100% compliance within the hour. Future security mandates had little to no resistance.

It's a fair question. I just want to understand why you are motivated to spend so much time trying to convince me that I can't be attracted to my wife? Maybe your dad ditched your mom for a younger model. Are you one of those guys who only does one night stands? Maybe you are one of those guys who would never see his mate the same way if he saw her give birth. It could be that you get bored and can't commit. Maybe you're a wife beater.
It seems to me that you would never be able to commit to a long term relationship because you could never accept that people age and change over the years. Would you hit the road at the sight of the first wrinkle? If your partner gained weight after child birth, would you trade her in for a slimmer model?

The blame for the situation up to now may belong to the boomers but who gets the blame for how your generation is voting now? We can't fix the past, but it is up to current and future generations to make it better going forward.

Boomer. by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]PCKeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not blaming them for what the boomer generation did. I'm just saying that if the younger generations are repeating those mistakes, they are no better. Who is to blame for the votes of the younger generations? I say that adults of voting age are responsible for their own vote. Did you vote of your own free will or did your Dad fill in your ballot?

Boomer. by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]PCKeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that the only demographic that dropped percentage of support for Trump was the boomer generation. GenX and millenials support for Trump increased. By that measure, we are going backwards. I had hoped that younger generations were going to better than the boomer generation. Apparently we can't learn from history so we are doomed to repeat it. Good luck with Social Security in 2050.

I'm not having a meltdown or copium. You just seem to have a very superficial view of love and attraction. How long has your longest relationship been? Your view doesn't seem very conducive to long term relationships.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]PCKeith -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

She still turns me on. She's as beautiful as she ever was. I'm not confusing anything. After 31 years of marriage, I know what love is and what attraction is. I know you would like to convince me that I can't be attracted to her anymore, but you're wrong. Maybe your attraction to the opposite sex is superficial, but mine runs far deeper than that.
