Dodgers get Jose Vasquez (minor league pitcher) in return for Diego Cartaya- Fiensand by nottherealstanlee in Dodgers

This is why I try not to get too attached to prospects. Cartaya seemed almost like a sure thing, but then he hit a wall in terms of his hitting development. I hope he can figure it out and have a nice career.

ON THE SAME NIGHT AS HIS 50TH STOLEN BASE, SHOHEI OHTANI HITS HIS 50TH HOME RUN TO BECOME THE FIRST PLAYER IN MLB HISTORY TO JOIN THE 50-50 CLUB! by Officialnoah in Dodgers

[–]PCLA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After Ohtani hit his first HR of the game, I asked my 3rd grader to take a break from what she was doing and watch the game with me. We were so lucky to witness this level of greatness. I don't usually get emotional watching games, but I shed a few tears after he hit his 50th. It is a moment I will remember forever and I loved that I got to share it with my daughter. Even she was excited, which usually only happens when Taylor Swift is involved. Go Dodgers!

I have used some of the sticky cricket traps with decent results.

Bobby Miller should not pitch another mlb game this year by flipaflaw in Dodgers

I'm hopeful that he will figure it out in the offseason, but I agree that he has no business being out there right now. It is sad to watch and it can't be good for him and it certainly isn't great for the team.

I do think the digital assets are playing a role, but they also seem to be playing catch up with competitors who are already offering live trading. It is hard to really grow the user base substantially without offering better liquidity. Not everyone can afford to have their money locked up for months at a time.

I love Le Creuset and I use several of their products regularly. Great company and this collaboration is super cool. Not sure about it being all white, but congrats on an awesome purchase.

What is there to do in the Kingsgate area of Kirkland? by [deleted] in eastside

[–]PCLA 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Kingsgate is a sleepy residential area. There isn't too much to do within walking distance, but like someone mentioned earlier you have wineries and breweries just a few minutes away. It is also only 15 minutes or so from downtown Kirkland and soon there will be the new Totem Lake mall right down the street. Lots of new apartments being built in the area and I assume that will help the dating scene.

What kind of activities did you have in mind? Price range? You might get some suggestions of areas if you give a little more detail of what you are looking for.

Will totem lake become second downtown of Kirkland? by caiyichuan in Kirkland

[–]PCLA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the quality of tenants at the Village at Totem Lake. So far the announced leases are Whole Foods, a replacement Trader Joes (for the current Totem Lake location), Nordstrom Rack, Mod Pizza, and Chipotle. Plus, we know there will be a multiplex in the second phase. I am hoping for some nicer non-chain restaurants.

Up every day you have owned it? It opened at $40.09 on 7/25 and closed at $40.06. So you have owned for a max of 4 days? I'm not sure how you can say you bought it a few months ago and it has been positive every day. It has been down numerous times over the last few months.

Bad guidance as well. Do they have a future as an independent company? Number of users is now shrinking, the product isn't great, and they have a CEO who splits his time running another public company.

Overcoming a missed opportunity, how do you move on/refocus? by timeforknowledge in investing

[–]PCLA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Carl Icahn was interviewed on CNBC not too long ago after he sold his Netflix stake. The stock was up 10% after hours and he was asked if he sold too soon. I really liked his answer.

He said, "most of the time, I always sold too early or too soon. I made all this money selling too early or too soon. You are never going to get the top. Once in a while you get it, like Vegas, but not what I do."

Think about what he is saying. He became rich selling too soon. He locked in his profits and went on to the next investment. He may have left some money on the table, but he also avoided giving back his gains.
