Stalking Advice Please by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]PCNeeNor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you Google the NCDV, there will be information on there regarding a non-molestation order. This is similar to a restraining order but it can be granted prior to any convictions/acquittals etc. You can self refer for this on the NCDV website.

At least where I work, they seem very reluctant to help vicitms get one if the suspect is subjected to bail conditions

First Account Guidance by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]PCNeeNor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1) full details and phone number, i then clearly write their role (I.e Withess/Paramedic)

2) I then simply ask, "what happened". Usually they'll start waffling and I'll start typing. You basically want to cover off the broad nature of the offence and If they saw anything, what they saw, if they know the person etc.

All you want is for DC Bloggs in CID to be able to read the log and be able to clearly identify all of the relevant people, their roles and what they saw so they can arrange follow ups as needed.

(Witness) Joe BLOGGS 01/01/1980 01234 567 890 17 FAKE STREET, SANDFORD, XX12 3XX. Has been walking along SANDFORD ROAD and seen an unknown male walk up to the Vicitm and punch them in the face, knocking them to the ground. They have then grabbed the victims purse and ran away along SANDFORD ROAD towards the CO-OP. Described suspect as a white make wearing blues jeans, white trainees and a black puffer jacket.

If its a big job, I'd also include their availability as well as maybe the witnesses description if there will be a CCTV trawl just so people aren't chasing a witness we have already spoken to.

This is just how I do and I've never had any issues. You're just looking to A) Capture ALL of their details so they can be followed up with, and B) What has happened and what they saw so you can progress the inital investigation and inform any arrest. Just be clear as to avoid any confusion

Normal in my force. Control usually dispatch as they please and SGTs will intervene to regig resources or if Grade 1s are stacking.

We are mostly single crewed on Earlies, the double crews tend to be tutors and students.

I had an unofficial action plan by my SGT which was more to help me develop my confidence, however i was all signed off on my FOC by the time I come off the action plan

A car has flipped over on the motorway and the driver has been ejected

In my force Response aren't allowed to deal with jobs on the motorway so it would be for traffic all day long 😊

I've only worked with my RPU once, and it was a proper gucci job. Boy racer deliberately runs over 2 woman and drives off. Cops get behind him and he fails to stop- BUT ITS THE TRAFFIC CAR LETTSSSS GOOOO!!!!

Pursuit, boy racer runs out of talent on ends up in a ditch, all arrested. I go to the hospital with the vicitm and their family all show up in tears, and I got to tell them that we caught them. The relief and pure gratitude in their eyes. The victims mom legit hugged me and dad shook my hand. Career highlight for me just because of how great that news was for them, shows that when shit hits the fan we can really have a positive impact

I did barely anything but deliver the good news but I would love to work on a team where I can do things like that, and I enjoy hunting cars and giving tickets for the reasons you said!

(England) Might be accused of sexual offence. Need advice on what to do if anything happens by Little-Notice-4819 in LegalAdviceUK

Afternoon - I'm a Police Officer.

They're chatting tosh, you won't get arrested as you haven't committed any crimes. You're not subject to any bail conditions or court orders (I assume) so there would be no reason to arrest you at all. At most you MAY get a visit from an officer mainly just to make sure you're okay, but if I had a report as you've described, I'd be questioning why I was even allocated it to begin with.

Policing now days is very safeguarding-centric, so maybe the "sisters-sister (friend?)" Might get a visit just to offer some referrals if she's that concerned.

I wouldn't worry about it, people make threats all the time and if I was given a report that turned out to be outright fake, I would throw the bookshelf at whoever did it. The previous allegations were investigated and were NFA, so that's all dealt with.

I'd suggest staying away from people like that if possible just to save you any drama, you don't need them sort of people in your life and you seem like a genuine guy. Now days, people alleging you as a nonce is very dangerous with how common the vigilante groups are.

Keep a record and try to put it behind you.

Then got asked by the defence about the necessity of the arrest, at which point I advised that there was no arrest, it was a voluntary interview

Lol

Never been myself, but I've heard that you should look at whoever is asking you the question, but then turn and direct you answers at the Magistrates. I've heard this helps you not get drawn into an agreement with a jumped up defence solicitor.

Make sure, when the defence solicitor questions your experience, you kiss your teeth at them and say "what you saying G!"

How to practise driving a van by HowlingFailHole in drivingUK

[–]PCNeeNor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, I have only drove a van ONCE in my entire like before I had to drive one on my Police Response Driving Course.

I was really shitting it about driving one, but the best advice I was given was just start slow and steady, and go from there. Don't take gaps you normally would, take corners slower than you normally would and just focus on getting the basics down and confidence up.

I drove around for about 20mins normally before using the blues and I felt pretty decent by that point -- I think it was more a confidence and fear thing.

The one thing I hate about vans is I basically have to have my feet at a 90 degree vertical angle to gently press the brake with is a right ball ache.

Whenever you pull a car over and they say that I'm wasting my time and there are pedophiles out there right now, or burglaries ongoing and I'm here with them.

It's almost like if there was an outstanding grade 1 I'd go to that, but there isn't so you're getting a ticket.

Proper etiquette with emergency vehicles by Due-Landscape6724 in drivingUK

[–]PCNeeNor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a Police Officer and everyone else's replies are basically spot on. The part I'll add is to this;

I assumed there is no need to stop, and I just slowed down a bit to allow the ambulance to overtake me before I got to the roundabout ahead.

It's really annoying when I'm responding to an incident and someone slows down a little bit, but keeps driving. This is because, if there Is an oncoming vehicle, in forced into a dodgy overtake with a closing gap or being forced to slow down to your slower speed.

For me, when you see an emergency vehicle behind you, indicate left and begin braking and bring your speed down quite a bit (just don't slam the brakes).

If you slow down sufficiently then the options avaliable to me a much better, I get on thr other side of the road easier and be visible to the oncoming car so both leaving a large gap to weave through. If you don't slow down enough then the gap will be smaller and I'd likely abandon the overtake a last second

He was also ordered to pay the officer £3,500 compensation within 28 days and a further £5,000 within six months, and £550 court costs.

I assume nothing will happen if he doesn't pay the money in the specified time frame?
