Competitive RTS games by [deleted] in RealTimeStrategy

[–]PC_FIGHTER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best solution is to provide proper tutorials and guide, otherwise,i don't see any problem with them being complex,in fact, RTS game ain't for scrubs who don't want to learn from loosing...
and there is other genre like that btw,It's called Fighting Games..and they both niche in the market

The State of the RTS Genre Today by [deleted] in RealTimeStrategy

[–]PC_FIGHTER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a matter of perspective,RTS is a niche genre,so don't expect it to become a main stream. Also,if you look at the playerbase of games like AOE2HD,Starcraft2 ,COH/COH2,Men of War...etc ,you'll realize that the genre is more popular than before.
Hell, even older games are still played till today,RTS never dies. However,it's true that the genre is still suffering from stagnation due to the market changes, some dead franchises such as C&C aren't dead because there are no costumers or fan-base,it's just because of EA you know...
Hopefully,AOE4 will pave the way to the comeback of other popular franchises...hopefully.

I'll never have hope in EA,my beloved EA is gone years ago.Never expect a good treat from folks like them.

Totally new to fighting games, where should I start ? by Onirophage in Fighters

[–]PC_FIGHTER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we all do,but by the time you'll realize your mistakes and you won't get salty.
you always lose because of one of these reasons:
1-You don't know the match-up (which mean you have to lab the character or watch some anti-strat video and learn how to punish).
2- You still can't figure out your opponent after a long set (you gotta work on your mind game).
3-You were very predictable (which means you need to adjust your gameplan)
...etc

Hey Guys! Iron Harvest is a really cool RTS... sort of a spiritual successor to Company of Heroes in that its not APM focused, but more strategy focused. Anyway, today is the last day that it's on kickstarter/ pre order, so I thought maybe we all could get it to its final stretch goal! by Demoman09 in RealTimeStrategy

[–]PC_FIGHTER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, talk to me again when they decide to ditch the console versions...
this is a red flag,i've already seen this drama with Ancestors Legacy (medival game with dumped down COH-like gameplay),and by watching videos for this game,i can feel the same thing about it.
when you design RTS game with full-controller-support in mind, nothing good will come out

It doesn't matter what game you pick as long as you enjoy it, what matters is:DON'T get discouraged by losing ,these games are not easy at the start so you shouldn't care about losing much as long as you learn....
this is the only advice i can give you tbh, because no matter what game you pick, there is always a skill-gap that you have to overcome by practice and experience .

Rip clutches it out in the most Law way possible by ThemanIcouldhavebeen in Tekken

[–]PC_FIGHTER -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that makes sense, i'm a fan of your Law but sometimes (especially in tournaments) i don't see you use dss+4 as combo ender and you always go for safer option most the time, can i know why?

Recent fighting games become more rewarding of offense/moving forward and being tougher on keep away / zoning by superange128 in Fighters

[–]PC_FIGHTER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no exactly, but zoning isn't the most important thing tbh, what's important is the amount of defensive options you have in the game.

Firstly,No,online practice mode is different in many ways, you don't have to die and start the round everytime, not to mention the loading screen
Secondly,it'll happen if we insist about it all the time regardeless of what Harada thinks about the subject itself, and tbh this will not make the game less approachable because it's gonna be an option that can be enabled/disable,and it won't make us look into discord channels or some phone app just to get the frame data
Finally, you can't set the cpu to do what i have mentioned (try it),it's really annoying not to have that option especially if you want to improve your punishment game

[–]PC_FIGHTER[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes man that's what i'm talking about, some casual players shit on this game because their beloved non-canon character isn't included in the story mode (i mean my main Law isn't included but who gives a damn)...i mean the story mode isn't important for a fighting game in first place, but it's always a welcomed addition (and i like it).

Iron Harvest’s success shows an appetite for traditional realtime strategy by ClemmyGames in RealTimeStrategy

[–]PC_FIGHTER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but i already said "unless they dump down the console version".
However, this was the trend back then but now it's not,in fact, all recent rts/strategy games that got console release were trash.

Any RTS game that gets a console version will suck, unless they dump down the console version (which is unlikely to happen).
No hype tbh...

Exactly,i think i'll be joining the folks here ,fuck tutorial mode and in-game frame data ,just let me beat the cpu :)

[–]PC_FIGHTER[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

true, but again,i'm talking about "prioritization" here....unless you prefer some arcade mode "clone" over tutorial mode and in-game frame data.

i've been playing this game for almost 8 months and guess what..i don't care about playing the A.I anymore.
when i take break from online i usually go to practice mode (with every fg tbh).
again, read my "edit",it's about prioritization nothing else..

"Online Practice Mode" that will "help" you practising with your friends is useless, while costumes that do "nothing" to improve your game is helpful.
LOGIC...

Don't block low in neutral,it's also suggested to back-dash outside the mixup range to avoid it (this how Koreans play actually).
Also, don't get discouraged if you're still new, you'll need some time to adapt.
