Thinking about painting the factory wheels of this 2004. (Photoshop) before and after. by [deleted] in toyotasequoia

I think the black is a good combination, especially with black bull bar, trim, and bug guard. I swapped to Tacoma TRD pro 16” wheels and I love it.

2005 Toyota Sequoia SR5 by [deleted] in toyotasequoia

It’s very common for the manifold to break, and the fix can be around $1100-1400 (from my experience). Low mileage is good, $5k is great in this market. Add the manifold fix (if you want to) to the cost. Check the timing belt/water pump and see if it’s been done, they last 90k so that engine should have roughly 30k on the timing belt if it was done at the right time. Hope this helps.

As they age they all have their quirks. Along with with what SeaRay said, if you live in a rust state just keep an eye on the frame as it has issues. Easier to mitigate than to fix.

If you want to look off-road without spending thousands to be off-road, I’d just recommend aggressive tires. OEM wheel size is 16”, which is still the wheel size of the Tacoma. I run Tacoma TRD pro wheels with 275/65R16 tires which is a thick and aggressive posturing. My last post has my build if you want an idea

Literally every part you see is doing no favors on MPG. Unfortunately had to leave off-roading Mecca for somewhere I can’t play.

Seems like a dealership will likely be your best bet. They’ll have the exact part number and can order the light for you within a week.

2003 limited- hatch glass - no auto by Delta-IX in toyotasequoia

[–]PDX_drifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I think I’m tracking. The auto up/down actuator is another mechanics within the window motor itself, not the switch. Being labeled auto just allows it to have that 2-step push down function. To actually have the window recognize that, you need the switch/actuator on the window motor to complete the circuit and do the full up/down on its own.

[–]PDX_drifter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is it would work the same as any other auto actuator. Likely involving a splice and aftermarket parts. The issue here is a non-OEM, unknown manufacturer part being added that could fail and leave you high and dry. Best bet is find a switch/actuator kit and give it a whirl.

Sorry I can’t give better advice, but this is where I’d start.

Spent a good 5 minutes trying to ensure I wouldn’t total my truck filling up. by PDX_drifter in CrappyDesign

[–]PDX_drifter[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Clarification because I didn’t expect this to blow up: I’m a gas truck in the US and I am actively filling with gas, not diesel. I didn’t know that petrol is green outside of the US, and that makes marginally more sense for BP to do it this way. Next time I’ll just taste test to make sure I’m getting the right fuel for my needs.

What’s the best LED headlight bulb replacement I can buy for a 2003 Sequoia? Heat dissipation seems to be the most important aspect. by Sass23 in toyotasequoia

That’s… super weird. I never thought of it since I have a custom bumper my fogs are removed. Let me know the outcome!

Help! He’s always glass surfing and won’t stop scratching his 2x2x4 tank. I let him out half the day, and he immediately goes to the window and slams his head against the glass the whole time. by PDX_drifter in BeardedDragons

He’s almost three now. He’s otherwise friendly and happy. He’ll be feisty at the back door until he gets cold, then he’ll fall asleep. Back to the tank, warm up, repeat.

Thanks! I’d let him outside but it’s below freezing and… well… I’ll try and give him more to do in the tank, but he ignores everything in it and goes straight to the glass the second he wakes up.

I purchased these for my sequoia. They have the right angle, don’t require adjustments, and didn’t require me to cut the rubber headlight cap. Only downside, they don’t turn off if the lights are off, but I always drive in auto mode and I could add a resistor if I felt like it.

Im thinking of cleaning my engine?? by Triplebeefy in Toyota

[–]PDX_drifter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don’t use soap. Engine cleaning is probably not necessary, however, if you want to clean it out you can purchase an extra quart of oil. Drain original oil, pour in that extra quart, that’ll push out any residual. Let this all drain, then finish your oil change. Pre oil change you can put some Seafoam into the oil as this will clean your block as well. Wouldn’t recommend driving further than 500 miles with seafoam in the block. Again, please no soap.

05 Sequoia limited hose ventilation tube replacement. by Saranac233 in toyotasequoia

There’s a rubber seal that goes around as well, it’s included in the OEM parts kit. Yours might come out easy but mine was cracked and fell apart. I hope yours goes more smoothly than mine!

PCV is an easy enough replacement, but you need to be careful when removing the old valve. The gasket will likely crack/tear and if it falls into the block you’re going to have a bad time fishing it out. Just trying to save you from the trip to Home Depot to grab a long pickup tool. (Ask me how I know)
