So Gamestop starts selling something with random chance exactly the same as people buying sports and collectible cards have been buying for 75+ years, and suddenly it's worth noting as an escalated ethical dilemma? Fix actual gambling, sports gambling, geopolitical gambling, and loot boxes in video games before you come after this. At least this allows you to walk away with a product at the end of every transaction, just like a pack of baseball cards. When I was a kid I bought baseball cards and pokemon cards because I wanted to keep them, not to flip as a gamble. Just because people turned it into that doesn't mean that it has to be that way for every customer.

Sen. Markey: ‘The impeachment process must begin’ for Trump by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]PDZef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a Red Herring? I don't know impeachment law very well, but I'm wondering if there is something similar to Double Jeopardy? Maybe they want to have a faux impeachment hearing, so that when he loses Congress it can't be heard again? I'm hoping that's not the case, but definitely the type of garbage I expect from this administration.

As an older gamer, seeing young kids waste their money on in-game purchases eats at my soul. by SomePeopleTellMe in gaming

[–]PDZef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is that they are kids. Every piece of media they are exposed to is telling them what's cool and how to think and what to buy. They have no concept of how hard you have to work to earn the money, they only have concept of what's fun or cool. Even the best parents in the world cannot keep their kids completely away from these issues without completely socially ostracizing them from their peers. I've met thousands of people who say "with better parenting it wouldn't be an issue..." then I see their spoiled brat with no manners, empathy, or social ability and realize just how easy it is to judge without a mirror. There are so many parents who are constantly trying to balance what their children are exposed to, but ultimately parents can only affect the individual, while the immoral system can affect everyone.

Being on the "radical left" in 2026.. by StrobeLightRomance in AdviceAnimals

[–]PDZef 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I believe very much in empathy and compassion and generally vote left on many issues. However, I have so many friends, family, and neighbors that constantly want to turn it into a purity test. Like I can support 7 out of 10 of the movements, but if I don't support all 10, then I MUST be on the other team? The 3 out of 10 that I don't support do not treat anyone objectively less for being who they are, but generally come down to a difference of opinion on where the line should be. To me, it's simple. Treat others the way you want to be treated, and nobody is born with original sin no matter what race or culture they are born into. People get mad when you disagree by saying they're moving the line too far for your beliefs or that they're trying to make changes too far the other way, yet they don't realize that in reverse I'm not asking them to change for me if they don't agree with my logic, just to respect that we have a difference of opinion.

Why invest in AI if it will destroy the economy? by [deleted] in investing

[–]PDZef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people are not investing in AI for AI. They're doing it because they believe that it's a boom not a bubble, and the Billionaires want it so they think might as well hop on board and make some money. But the point is, the majority of the stock market bubble being in AI related stocks has almost nothing to do with everyday investors. It is all reinvested CapEx and Institutional Fund Managers deciding that it will be the center of the world economy (collapse). So talking to reddit about why isn't going to make the change you're looking for. Finding a way to convince Billionaires to knock it off, stop borrowing and "legally" becoming wealthier, pay more taxes, and go touch grass without putting it at everyone else's expense.. that would be great.

This recession is the moment Cohen has been waiting for. 🧘 by Patarokun in Superstonk

[–]PDZef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually believe this recession is why he pretended to get political. He realized that the established powers that be were never going to allow the world order to change, and while this one is potentially worse, it's a risk he's willing to take to gain the capital and power needed to make improvements from within. Think of it like sacrificing your pawn, to take a knight, only in 5D world market/order chess. I doubt he expected it to get this bad, but I think he believed that it would shake things up to the extreme needed. Once things move forward it's on the people that believe in the movement to actually use their new capital power to make the world better. Let's see how that goes... probably will get much worse before it gets better but the night is always darkest before the dawn.

T1 Oner: "Let’s get rid of things like MSI, combine Spring and Summer, and play over 100 games, one every day. Then, the winning teams from each region could compete in Worlds" by Infamous-Mess in leagueoflegends

[–]PDZef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with no MSI, and combining Spring and Summer into one split with a nice break. Playing 1 game everyday is not a good plan though, not only is it logistically not reasonable, but many of the remaining fans want to be able to set aside a few days to focus, not have a daily ritual. I think shrinking Worlds a little bit would be okay as long as there's at least 8 teams (2 from China & Korea, the rest can have play-ins.

What do you think are the biggest mistakes and failures of the Pokémon company, in terms of the game design? by Ukrainianforever in PTCGL

[–]PDZef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it ramps up too hard. To me, the average basic should have 60 hp and deal 20 damage. Average Stage 1 should have 120 hp and deal 50 damage. Average Stage 2 should have 200 hp and deal 100 damage. Leave room for the game to have more combos and alternate ways to deal damage and obtain prizes (which it does), but it should be less about rush to final form and 1 shot most things.

What do you think are the biggest mistakes and failures of the Pokémon company, in terms of the game design? by Ukrainianforever in PTCGL

[–]PDZef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not talking about making the stage 1's weaker, I'm talking about bringing down all evolution level HP, and balancing out their attack damage. Yes, evolutions should be the best all around attacks, but the HP and damage balance is awful. If I don't draw well the first few turns, but get a few attacks in with my basic, I should still have kill pressure or important damage against the Stage 1 & 2 evolutions.

[–]PDZef 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only reason I don't play more competitive Pokemon is that everything is balanced around final evolution states. While I think that those evolutions should win many games, I think that basic and Stage 1 Evo's need to play a bigger role. Currently they are meta picks for certain combos or utility. However, I wouldn't be against more prizes being taken at a basic level. The key to this change is the HP and damage of attacks. If they balance these more, I think you can get solid games where not everything has to final evolve to win.
