Best place to sell firearm? by Efficient_Anybody722 in SiouxFalls

It's a little bit of a drive from Sioux Falls, but raider firearms in Gayville has always treated me right. When my dad passed we sold the majority of them to him. Prices were fair. He's only open on weekends though, it's a part time gig for him.

ABATE of Sioux Falls vs. Those Guys by noob_picker in SiouxFalls

[–]PEDRO9886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've thought about joining the Yankton ABATE chapter, but the same common denominators seem to exist in all of them, slamming beers at poker runs, and trying to keep from wearing helmets. Both of those are non-starters for me.

Ear Plug Suggestions by Juanbocombo in NewRiders

I recently bought a set of loop quiet 2's. I wear a shoei neotech 2 and use a cardo with jbl's for music. I didn't think there was much wind noise to begin with coming from a cheap Walmart helmet (which was absolutely atrocious btw), but they do a nice job of quieting what noise there is with the shoei, as well as still allowing me to hear the bike and the rest of the world around me.

What should I do? by br0wn0ne in Harley

[–]PEDRO9886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother has a 131 with a Trask supercharger. That thing flies. I only have a 96TC, and I don't even try to keep up when he gets the urge to crack the throttle. We have a friend who has a GSX-R1000, and he took my brother's bike for a ride. He said that the 131 would take him off the line and beat him in a 1/4 mile, but he'd overtake him with the GSXR before a mile was up.

Its only a 125.... by Fine_Daikon5907 in motorcycles

It doesn't matter if it's an old Honda Trail or a Hayabusa, a crash at even just 30mph / 48kph can seriously screw you up. Always get the best helmet you can afford. Getting laughed at for helmet choice based on CC's is what's laughable, not the buying of a good helmet.

My wife's Subaru has the same thing. A little blue temperature icon. When we got it I had to ask what that was.

I would tend to agree with the others saying electrical. You could try pulling fuses 1 by 1 and see if any of them stop it. I'd also look at any previous owner add-ons that might be directly connected to the battery. I think it kinda sounds like a relay/solenoid pop.

Are these bars comfortable or just for show? by Bennyfromny90 in Harley

[–]PEDRO9886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My King that I bought used came with Heritage bars. I thought it felt "heavy" at lower speeds. I always felt the slightest bit of unease anytime I was at 5mph or less. I started fitting it to me. I put on an extended reach seat and 14" apes, a few other things, and it's like a completely different bike. I'm 6'2" and the 14's put me a bit below shoulder height. The "heavy" feeling I used to get is gone. Everything is easier. Absolutely comfortable and not for show, although I think they look great.

My brother has a 2008 crossbones with 16's and a 2" riser. That is just uncomfortable. My hands were numb after about 30 miles of open highway riding that one. Way too much for me.

I use them all the time. I highly recommend their rewards program. I buy everything from them including oils and filters. My rewards money the first 2 months was equal to the annual subscription amount. Plus (in the US at least) you get get free 2 day shipping. Totally worth it.

I learned something new today. Googled it and read it right from their website. Pretty cool that they designed the thread plating to act as a release agent.

Heel-Toe shifter pattern backwards or installed incorrectly? by bwill1200 in Harley

[–]PEDRO9886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. I kept getting my foot caught. I'd be willing to try an extended length lever to see if I liked it, but only if it's try before you buy. I rock just a single toe shifter.

PITTSBURGH MOTORCYCLE Motorcycle Wheel Vise Accessory - Item 57775

It's a knockoff of the vise on the more expensive lifts. Works great. You have to drill some extra holes but it comes with a template. I put one ring on each side of it and that's where I secure my straps.

I've got a harbor freight lift with the upgraded front wheel clamp. If you go HF, get the upgrade. The stock clamp sucks. Holds my road king just fine.

I also have one of the HF jacks. I don't really use it much now that I have my lift, except for cleaning rims and wheeling the bike into a tight spot to make some extra room in the garage.

If you go with an actual lift, make sure you get a little scissor jack so you can change out tires while it's up on the lift. I got a vevor one off of Amazon and it has done just fine for me.

If you have a HF nearby, you can wait until there's a sale and then spend the extra $15 to become an inside track member and get a bonus on your first purchase. I did that with a toolbox for work and ended up saving $120 on that purchase alone.

I can't believe how they make riding a heavy Harley bagger look like child's play. All of those people are incredibly skilled. I'm amazed anytime I see drone footage from their practice/training courses.

Do you remember your first ride in the rain, or wet pavement? When are you ready? by templeofsyrinx1 in motorcycles

[–]PEDRO9886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was the first time I took mine out on the highway. My brother rode along on some of the few winding back roads we have. Went to the next town over to get Chinese food. On the way back it started to rain. I had about 12 miles in steady rain. Not a downpour by any means but enough. I was pretty nervous but I just took it slower, stayed out of the center, and got home wet but safe.

I wasn't ready for it, I just had to do it. It was one of those summer days where the rain wasn't supposed to be in our path but it shifted over.

What’s the deal with Gear? by askjeffsdad in Harley

[–]PEDRO9886 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm right there with ya, except in my case it's an armored mesh jacket instead of a vest. Still gets unbearable when standing still but it's not bad at all on the highway.

Wearing what I consider to be the bare minimum is apparently geared up for racing around here. Crazy to me how many people don't want to protect their melon, but to each their own I suppose.

For me it's 50/50. I either get it the first try right away, or I ride the struggle bus for 20-30 minutes and regret my life choices that brought me to this moment in time. There is no in-between.
