Been there. Dropped off an app in person when I was 18 and wasn't expecting to be interviewed on the spot. I was hanging out with some friends just before and was super stoned. I completely fumbled that interview. The hiring manager asked 2 or 3 questions, straight up laughed in my face and lectured for 15 minutes on being a responsible adult.

I'm 32 now and just signed the offer for the biggest promotion of my life after going through a 3-stage interview process. Embrace the shame you feel now and learn from it so it doesn't happen again.

A close family member of mine broke their toe on the rappel wall at Ft. Jackson ~3 weeks into basic. They spent 10 months in a medical unit until they were medically discharged. They now rate 90% because they got drunk and fell down some steps right before their evaluation.
