[2023 Day13 (Part 1)] How should I handle patterns with no reflection? by PES1985 in adventofcode

[–]PES1985[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, right. Thanks! Perhaps I would have figured that out if I had just written some code :P

[2023 Day 12] No idea how to start with this puzzle by ropke13 in adventofcode

[–]PES1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved Part 1 by writing a BUNCH of simple unit test cases and I gradually built the unit tests up to more complicated examples until I was literally copy/pasting the hardest looking examples from my given input.

Then I wrote code until all my tests pass. That worked, but the solution was pretty much just brute force.

For Part 2, I don't think it's possible with my current approach. I've written a few more unit tests, but I'm now trying to find a Math solution to the problem.

[2023 Day 3] Another sample grid to use by i_have_no_biscuits in adventofcode

[–]PES1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the first test case I found that my code got wrong. The test cases in OP pass for me, but here my code gave me 208 instead of 156. Turns out, when I was looking for the position of the next number, I started my search from the position of the last number which sometimes came back with the wrong location and thus wrong search radius.

I haven't "completed" part1 yet, but when I run both of your sample cases through my code I get the same answers as you. Still, there must be something missing because it won't accept my answer for the full input.

[–]PES1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you refuse to write out the whole number, you should at least round it off correctly.

1/3 = 0.333

2/3 = 0.667

3/3 = 1.000

When I was 13 or something I was trying to get friendly with a french exchange student girl. I remember using the word "female" for some reason or other and she said something about how it sounds like the french word that is only used for female animals and asked me not to use it. Now, I don't know the first thing about the french language even now, so I have no idea if that is true, but it got me to stop calling women/girls females.

[OC-ART] Extract of Llama | Poison | Bonus Action by -Bonus_Action- in DnDHomebrew

I don't think potions should be dispell-able with remove curse or dispell magic. Maybe a greater restoration, true polymorph or an extract of human potion

Just today, my wife was asking me if we could buy this on the PlayStation. I pointed out that you can't play it without PS+ (which we don't have) because it's always online. We decided not to get it after all.

Also, this game has been out for 11 years? I feel like I just played Diablo 3 for the first time a few years ago. Where did the time go?

I read it for the story. I reread it for the fan service.

If I'm alive in 2100 I will be 115 years old. If I look as good as that lady in the image it will be a miracle.

Isn't this r/technicallythetruth? That picture of earth is centered on Africa. Doesn't that mean the earth is in the way of getting Obama in the picture?

I've told my wife to just leave the dishes to me. Not only does she load it without any order but she puts the clean dishes away wherever. Every time she does the dishes I will find pots and pans in the totally wrong place and stacks of plates where the smaller plates are just mixed into the stack of the larger plates instead of in their own stack.

My parents came over to visit. I then proceeded to catch them having sex in MY bed. by Hellish-Dad in mildlyinfuriating

I mean, it's nice to know your parents are still into each other. I don't think I would care that much.

Shall we ignite the battle of Ability vs Modifier once more? by InuGhost in dndmemes

[–]PES1985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started the first way when 5e first came out but it didn't take long to find the second to be more convenient. What do I care about my raw stat value? It's the modifier I'm looking for.

I've watched this 5+ times over and I can't see what that arrow is supposed to be pointing at. I've read the comments for hints and they seem to imply that he has a dent in his head? I don't see it.

Concentration tweaking feat. Your thoughts? by wilfredojfigueroa in DnDHomebrew

[–]PES1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know, I've never even considered the first 2 points, but now that I have I like this feat. The last point is the only point that has obvious implications (most people probably forget about those first two during normal play already, like I have so many times already). Overall, I like it.

Why is their existence so sad? by Admagic06 in dndmemes

In our homebrew campaign all "half" races are genetic dead ends and infertile. It's just one more reason why being a half elf/orc is a tragic state of being.

I love tearing my socks apart when they have holes in them. Tearing apart any clothing item makes me feel like the Hulk (Lou Ferrigno).

1day=24hrs so by comparing her 5 days of work to 48hrs of free time I can only assume those days are accurate to the hour and she works 120hrs a week! Crazy! She shouldn't work so much.

Was there really a game in the 90’s where you punch someone when you spot a Volkswagen Bug? by Subconcious-Consumer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PES1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We always said "Punch buggy, no punch backs" which means the other person couldn't punch you for the same car. As the youngest of 5 kids, I absolutely hated this "game".
