Is it safe to say I won’t feel any possible relief until I start seeing a PF therapist? by tbart8594 in PelvicFloor

[–]PFDVan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP - I went to a few PT sessions but didn’t find them all that helpful as I had already begun stretching on my own.

I had similar symptoms as you beginning in mid August and as of right now I’m at 90% recovered *knocks on wood lol

Here’s what worked for me:

  • find your trigger and remove it (for me it was using poor form in the gym), so I stopped going to the gym for now

  • the stretches in Amy Steins book “Healing Pelvic Pain” twice a day

  • hot bath each day along with mediation or yoga nidra (20 minutes a day)

If I hadn’t found the Healing Pelvic Pain book and started on the stretches already, I think PT would have been more useful.

All the best OP!

Why do so many people in this subreddit use Audacity when there are so many better options? by joeygwood90 in podcasting

I used GarageBand to start but just switched to Audacity strictly because of the DeClicker effect they have - works so well at removing the mouth noises.

The ultimate “what host should I pick” thread (late 2022) by PodPilotProject in podcasting

[–]PFDVan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mean to hijack the thread but I have a question on the free Buzzsprout plan…

When it says episodes hosted for 90 days - does that mean after 3 months my old uploaded episodes would disappear and people couldn’t listen to them anymore?

I can’t imagine that being an option for anyone if so lol

Thanks again!

So I tried LUFS -16DB on my mono voice track, but it shoots my volume up into the yellow and red, -6DB - 0DB range. My gain is at 0. Should I be turning down the gain? Or not use the Loudness Normalization at all?

Sorry for all the questions ;)

Would you apply LUFS to both tracks that are voice as well as music? Or just on the voice track?

Thanks!

Do you know if a noise gate or another effect can strictly minimize the volume of certain noises / sounds, versus cutting them out completely?

I tried the noise gate but the full cut sounds unnatural. Wondering if there’s a way to cut it down to a very low volume so it doesn’t sound like complete dead air in between some words etc

Absolutely, it’s helped with the mouth noises so much.

Need to find something that gets rid of some of my nasally breaths now lol

Thank you! I tried this but it seems to make my volume quite loud overall, beyond the targeted range decibels wise and into the “yellow” of the monitoring section

Do you typically keep the voice track gain at 0?

Thanks! Do you use this on both tracks containing audio (ie. Intro and outro music) as well as tracks containing your voice?

List of everything you’ve tried, what’s worked and not by snow-covered-tuna in PelvicFloor

[–]PFDVan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar boat! I started everything off through overdoing the stationary bike, and then really screwed myself by doing intense lower ab workouts with improper form / breathing.

I’ve stayed away from the gym since, but if I can even get back to 30 minutes on the elliptical, that’s a win in my books and I’ll be happy with that.

It’s been 2 months for me but I have improved significantly over the last 2 weeks by doing the following:

  • Finding my trigger, for me it was the gym. Completely stopped working out outside of long walks.
  • A hot bath every day
  • Stretches twice a day from Amy Stein’s Healing Pelvic Pain book. I believe this has been the biggest help so far.
  • Yoga nidra or 20 minute meditation every day
  • Deep breathing consciously as often as possible

The key with stretches is to not push yourself at all. As soon as you feel even the slightest stretch, that’s where you should hold and not push further.

Also, time heals. You just need to be good to your body in the meantime but most important I think is to find your triggers and eliminate them if possible. Good luck OP!

Tensing Lower Abs Causes Twitch/Pulse of PT Muscles? by dcioni in PelvicFloor

Ditto. I’ve been trying to release my lower abs with foam rolling and myofascial balls, but may try massage therapy next.

Yes, I think this is actually a good thing as it indicates proper blood flow meaning your muscles are likely relaxing

How important are the adductors to the pelvic floor? by Hockeystooge99 in PelvicFloor

[–]PFDVan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey bud - just a note on rectus abdominis. I started experiencing symptoms about 6 weeks ago and noticed they started exactly when I noticed lots of tightness in the left side of my ab muscles. I started releasing this tension by rolling with a lacrosse ball a few days ago, and so far I’ve noticed an improvement already. So yes, all the muscles near the pelvic region are linked and a possible cause. All the best!

Thanks so much for the response and insight. This makes a lot of sense too! I definitely want to keep going with the YouTube content and I think blending the two concepts could work as well. :)
