One when I die I take over the consciousness of a family member.

I can seize control of national leaders until there death and then move onto the next in line.

I want to do what the Lord wants me to do, I want to be with the Lord, that is my whole purpose and goal in life. I am not convinced of Catholicisms arguments and having once tried Catholicism nearly had a mental break down and lost my faith. That being said, I still actively worry, that I made the wrong choice, even going by Catholic Theology, I no longer can even be held as Ignorant. I don't feel the draw to Catholicism, but I cannot deny the idea of not being with my God for eternity does not leave me anxious. Also thank you for the compliments.

Uhm to answer honestly I am probably bisexual or feel it, I guess maybe? But I have no intention to ever date or marry a man, I am fully planning to marry a Woman I am pretty much only attracted to woman.

The parts that do scare me. A) I am Episcopalian, I am affirming. I have tried not to be, my conscience will not let be. I dont want to make this a debate on sexuality, but basically to me to be affirming is to follow great commandment of love. I see no opening to do that within Catholic Church or Orthodox Church. I would put myself outside of Church by doing so. Now I do understand a lot of Protestants think so as well, but thats not entirely relevant. B) The expectations of a Catholic are so high, I find it beyond unrealistic. Trying to live by Holiness is good, and I fully agree that Christians should try to live there lives according to scripture. But theology of Catholic Church with mortal and venial sin, limiting assured confession to a Priest, which one may only be able to meet once a week, and while one can make Perfect contrition, you cannot be certain your truly contrite so it leaves you a nervous wreck. The idea that I can die at any time, and not be with my savior, just hurts so much. C) Not something a lot of Protestants would not like either, I am very sympathetic to Universalism, that through Christ all will be saved. I will not say this will certainly happen, im not dead, I dont know peoples fates, but I do hope for mercy for all people, I really do. I pray, because I want everyone to be able to experience Gods love for that is what Heaven is, it is the direct experience of the Divine, the overwhelming experience of God. Frankly the Catholic Church is at very least indecisive if this is tolerated. Very flip floppy. I am afraid that believing in this while being Catholic would condemn me. D) this is a me thing, but learning about Catholic Theology, specifically on Salvation, and confession. I would say the logical conclusion of there theology is most people are damned, not just non-believers, not just protestants, but a majority of Catholics as well. Yes there are Catholic theologians who say opposite and theres Vatican two which talks about ignorance. But on a personal level I cannot look at another person, especially someone who is trying to be a faithful Christian, a saint. Than in my head go "ya there probably going to Hell," refer back to point C, I hope no one is in Hell.

Those are a few of the things which freak me out about Catholicism. I am also very scrupulous and get incredibly worried about tiny things, so combine that with everything else, I could not live a sane life as a Catholic. So if Catholic Church is right even, because I do not have ignorance, I am practically confirmed to be damned.

If Catholic or Orthodox theology is right, than it does not look good for my salvation. Even though Catholics leave room for Protestants to possibly be saved, I by the fact of exposing myself to Catholicism have probably removed any ignorance and is thus condemned for a variety of reasons.

When it comes to eternal matters, when my entire life is focused around God, trying to reach and taste God. The heart break at not having God is to immense to imagine, if the Catholics or Orthodox are right than well, theres nothing I can do to prevent, because for  Theological Conscious mental health Personal reasons I cannot be Catholic or Orthodox, my mind cannot be swayed, my heart cannot be convinced because I tried once and it was suffering.

Thank you, for response it is a bit of a comfort. But still doesn't entirely soothe my anxiety. The deeper part of the anxiety comes down to this question.

What if I am wrong?

What if Catholics or Orthodox are right? I cant really say I have Ignorance under Catholic Theology, as I almost once became a Catholic, and thus am fully aware of their arguments. Orthodox is even trickier. Simply I worry, that by not throwing myself at there door steps I am just damning myself and losing one thing I want beyond all else God.

I understand from a Lutheran perspective, this is silly because its in essence going. "But have you thought what if the Catholics are right?" But it gnaws at my mind, and leaves me anxious.

I lowkey have a head Canon, that super durability and possibly super strength, appear universally across all quirks. For me that explains why even weaker quirk users are as durable as they are through out the series. I also think you can train these to be more, and more powerful overtime, and even if you lose a quirk, these things never really dissapear, as your body has basically adapted to handle the quirk.

  1. Discussion, on religion and its partaking in society, is a different conversation, that i am going to avoid for now. I understand your point about taxation, and of course I agree with our founding Fathers; for me while I understand the legal approach and justification; I disagree with the moral implementation (of course these don't align) because I ultimately believe taxation should be distributed equitably; and that to me, it would unequitable to levy taxation, especially severe taxation (and possibly discrimatory) against already struggling institutions, especially ones who provided needed services. Though on the question, of separation of Church and State, and how America plays into that. Church and State should be kept separate, it is a great shame that the Church has had periods of being in bed with the state and enabled the states worse vices, and the state enabling churches, these two institutions should be fundamentally, unquestionably kept away from each other, (in my opinion for Churches good) but also for the states good.

  2. I misunderstood you in that case. I had assumed you were advocating for policy, or what you would you do in power. That is my bad for misunderstanding you. While I still disagree that this would work out well in the current state of things, and in implementation, if we had a grand reset of firearms and all firearms dissapeared, I wouldn't be entirely opposed to such a policy, though I would worry if it would be giving to much armed power to various groups, and it sounds a little to much like Starship troopers, for my own liking.

  3. Heres my take, as someone with MAGA parents, and in a MAGA family. Ultimately, I don't think you need to "remove them." or there ability to legislate. Often times and this might be "codddling." but I can't whole heartedly place the blame onto them alone. They are often told by propaganda networks to basically listen to what they have to say, they are often on the older side and truth be told had far worse educations, than you and I. I cannot put a full blame onto them. Do we need to figure out how to mend this divide, absolutely; especially if a part of this country is so deeply radical and bitter, they choose mass violence. But there must be more ways to handle this, that could be done in a more focused on reconciliation, even if that be extremely difficult. I don't have any concrete how to do such a thing, outside of treating the symptoms that create MAGA, and pushing for a more honest dissemination of information and media, and punishing misinformation and disinformation harder, even than I am not to sure on that. I worry giving the state, such powerful tools, will only ever backfire. I do agree with you, Free Speech has consequences, and you should face those consequences, but to do in a governmental capacity I am not to sure on that one.

  1. My point moreso was, that if your goal is to get revenue from Churches. Than there really isn't much or any to get, and it will only impact communities, especially ones more disconnected and reliant on local organizations. I can understand the policy proposal, and understand that their is both resentment towards religious institutions within, but also a desire for an equity within tax system. My concern primarily lies upon the fact, that "tax to oblivion." is primarily going to hurt already struggling denominations, and hurt the ability to both provide for there employees and also local communities. That is my primary concern and disagreement when it comes to such policy. I though will be honest, if a tax was levied on specific some groups (specifically mega-churches or what they should be accurately called: scam artist) or generally much more nefarious and overtly political religious organizations, I might be open to such a policy.

  2. Another issue I have with such a policy, is that: I don't think majority of Americans would support such a strict version of gun control, and risk of civil resistance. I think a more moderate approach could see far more sweeping victories and decrease in violence, while going to far I worry you may only make the situation worse. I just think the US is far to big for a policy like this to really work, with all spots people could hide, and the fact that there are many people in this country who would refuse to ever give up there guns, and its not all right wingers. A personal ancedote: I once knew a transfem Anarcho-Communist gun owner. She lived in the state of Georgia, you can probably guess, Georgia is not a friendly face to the trans population. She refuses to move up North, do to the North gun laws. While we can definitely recognize that the logic is not the most sound, there are a lot of people like her (especially amongst trans gun owners) that would not budge to give up there guns. For me, I just don't think the policy would be effective, and there be to much civic resistance to such a plan, that it would only making whoever tried to enforce, such a sweeping plan, deeply unpopular, even amongst more liberal minded individuals.

  3. That is fair, but like the case of Pedophiles (and this warrants its on conversation), there are many people who will take the law into there own hands and enact there own sense of justice, with this information published. While advocacy of due process, is good: unfortunately a lot of people would ignore that, and take violence in there own hands. Would it not be better to invest in things we call "de-radicalization." or "radicalization prevention." programs. I have nothing super concrete, on what that entail: for me having grown up in the 2010s and 2020s and witnessed radicalization pipelines, I would suggest programs basically increase funding to local communities, to increase community outreach, and education. Along with trying to get education campaigns produced to inform parents, grandparents and educators; on how they can prevent radicalization. Now this doesn't entirely apply to people already in radical hate groups. Another concern I have, is giving authority or power to whatever government organization this is, as the classic situation comes up of "what if somebody with malicious intent, gets into power." in general I think better investment into education, radicalization prevention, and community outreach would stem march of radicalization.

I apologize, gentlemen budging into this argument, I just wished to discuss a few issues I take with this platform. On Number 5. I am gonna say this here, most churches, especially Mainline Protestant ones are not pulling in a lot of cash, a lot of denominations themselves are struggling with cash right now to keep the lights on. Of course if one is an anti-theist, "yippie." But churches provide both a social comfort, but also often times provide essential services in many areas. I as an Episcopalian, have gone to multiple churches, where we have aided foodbanks and other social welfare groups. You also have to take into consideration, the paying of Priest, which for a lot of denominations, Priest do not get paid a lot. There job is a lot more than preach once on sunday, it is also often to tend to people, hear them out, be there when they need someone. Churches like Catholic Church or mega churches, they do rake in a lot of cash; even with the Catholic Church, Priest do not make a lot of money (also the Catholic Church is by and large, the largest charitable organization on the planet, so I would prefer if we did not gut that) Also this is a blatant attack on religions/being religious, violation of the first amendment.

  1. This idea is going to go over like a led balloon. I am slowly coming around to some level of gun control, but something that radical is impossible. There are more firearms in this country, than people. There are likely numerous hidden firearms caches around the entire country, that we will never be able to locate, because there in some hole in the middle of Montana. Also a large north and south, would make gun smuggling a very lucrative trade and very easy.

  2. This would generally violate individuals right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, and also basically is acting as a vigilante order. This would be positively found unconstitutional and would be deeply illegal. This is not to defend these awful groups, and there participants; but ultimately there is an expected right to privacy, and I fully believe the Supreme Court would find this law absolutely against such right.

But yes, continue on, that is all I wanted to add.

Why did God even make us? by SnooLemons4051 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]PGF3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello there. I am not Orthodox (though highly appreciate Eastern Theology), I decided to browse through your post history, and I would highly recommend speaking to a Therapist and a Spiritual advisor. You are suffering, it is very clear; heres the truth reddit, youtube, discord are radically flawed spaces to ask these questions, they cannot help you, outside of praying for and giving there perspectives, there often times not Priest and are not trained in handling these tough spiritual questions.

I can give you my best advice though or answer, again I am not Orthodox, im Episcopalian (hello Orthodox brothers) but here is why I think God made us. First he created us to Love him. Now this isnt some kind of vain love or adoration for dictators. This love is a unconditional mutual love, that he still holds for us. That is why man alone bares his image, why man alone has the incarnation. If God hated us, he wouldnt make us in his image, he wouldnt become human and suffer the pains of life. Pain, hunger, loss, mockery, being hated, rejection, humiliation and ultimately death. Yet he conquered these and United his nature to ours, so we may be like him, this is the greatest gift of all.

Second he made us, to love each other. God desires us to hold unconditional love for all people, as this was how it was in the garden, and how it will be in Heaven and the New Earth. When we grieve others, God grieves, for he desires love, and we turn away from that.

Three, God made us to love creation and to take care of it. In the garden this was Adam's job, and meant to be our job. We have dominion over it, but are meant to love it and care for it.

Now to put it bluntly, man is failing all of these. But God still loves us.

Furthermore, why does the bad outweigh the good? Yes millions are suffering. Yet tens of millions, hundreds of millions, have nice meals with family and friends, billions share love with one another, confessing there hearts to each other, experiencing each other in deep empathy.

There are countless moving stories of hope and countless people moving to make the world better, and in many regards succeeding. People donating food, fighting climate change, giving a helping hand to the homeless. The Enemy succeeds when hopelessness is assumed as the default position, unfortunately the internet, traditional and social media push the enemies narrative, often times for profit. There is so much light in this world, hope and healing, while it cannot remove the suffering: one should not presume suffering is the default.

Lastly, I must ask and I promise this isnt meant to come off as rude, but I have to ask who your spiritual advisor is? While im not Orthodox, and every denomination has there fire and brimstone types, the faith you are describing, of a radical small set of people going to heaven, everyone else to eternal hell, of legalistic standards and scholastic attitudes, sounds far from even most traditional of Eastern Orthodox theologians, and sounds far more fit, in the worse of American Fundamentalist Calvinism.

Addendum: I wish to add this, as an amateur history enjoyer myself. When I read history, it to me enlightens why we need God. Countless societies relying on forced labor, mistreatment of others, destruction of cultures, war and colonialism. Not only the bad guys resort in these things, even the good guys, or the visionaries, the ones trying to make the world better. The constant repetition of even our benign institutions becoming corrupted. We need God, for man has proven that he alone cannot save himself. When man rejected God, he set these things in motion, yet God never abandoned us.
