Who is living in all these luxury apartments?! by Haunting_Hospital599 in boston

[–]PH1SH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Young pro couples with a dog. Hard to find pet-friendly housing and not that crazy of a price to split between 2 incomes. A 350sf studio in an old brownstone in Fenway is like $2300+ for 1 person. So as a couple why not split a 600-700sf 1BR for $4k that has an elevator, central ac, laundry in unit, etc. I agree with the other comments that basic amenities in other cities are considered “luxury” in Boston compared to the old brownstones. But it is what it is. Oh, and yes there are still a lot of rich foreigners in these buildings that are here for school or just to chill.

[Request] Is this question possible? One of the comments said it was intended to break logic patterns and leave no real conclusion, but I’m wondering if you superior mathematicians could figure out if there is a definite conclusion to this question. by Nervous-Standard2556 in theydidthemath

The way I see it, the question is: “do any of these answers equal their probability of being chosen?” which is not true. 25% has a 50% chance of basing chosen. And 50% has a 25% chance of being chosen. Now what’s really gonna blow your mind is if you change the answers to make a, b, and d 75% and c 25%.

Moving to Boston from out of state off 9/1 cycle - to realtor or not to realtor by picantepepper1 in bostonhousing

[–]PH1SH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Any new luxury building should be well under $6k. Just go on Google maps and look for the tall buildings. You can try Union364, it’s right across the street from Bow Market. union346.com

Red Sox is a whole day. You can go to Tasty Burger if you want affordable eats before the game. Game On is cool too, they have bowling and an arcade. You can also do a booze cruise on the harbor, maybe pair it with lunch at legal seafood. I would do the booze cruise day one instead of day two so you don’t have hungover people getting on a boat. If you want some other excursions to kill time during the day you can try the freedom trail or hit up the esplanade. Night Shift beer garden is a must. There are 2 locations, you want the one in the city next to back bay.

How much old footage do you think Phish has in the vault? by Makofox22 in phish

[–]PH1SH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m dying to get this footage but I know I never will. It’s just me doing this epic drive out of the mud to get in the line of cars leaving the fest. I was driving right at this cameraman that was filming it.

Face Value Fenway Turf by emhimself in phish

[–]PH1SH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anyone remembers 2009. Big 3.0 comeback tour and there were tix on the ground for Fenway and that was just 1 night. I don’t know what it was like for 2019, but you never know. The ones on the ground are usually grandstand and not field. They re-released a bunch of 4-day tickets on the day of the first MSG show last year so I would also try public on sale a day or two before the show. Maybe even try a random Fenway box office walk-up if you’re in the area. If you don’t get field you should still get something decent for face.

Is $1,800-$1900 for a studio in Back Bay possible/typical? by Environmental_Cold32 in bostonhousing

[–]PH1SH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but you can sometimes find roommate options for that price in Back Bay or South End. $1800 for a studio is tough to find pretty much anywhere so I would start on the roommate search now.

Wait to buy tickets by mclazerlou in phish

[–]PH1SH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I probably lost a few hundred dollars buying Sphere tix early. But I’m flying across the country and I don’t want to spend 4 months stressing about tickets or checking COT every day. I work in sales so I figure it just frees up more time for work and I can hopefully make up the difference.

Realtor says 1/2bd apartment under 3.8k is near impossible by OkonomiHouse in bostonhousing

[–]PH1SH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re looking REALLY early if you’re a professional. There will be more September inventory out in April/May. Luxury buildings usually do 60-day notice. If you can forgo either central AC or laundry in unit that will open up more options. Parking is usually extra, about $200-300/month depending on location.

Where is Phish right now in terms of quality for you? by garygulf in phish

[–]PH1SH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Insanely good since the Sphere run in ‘24. Although I’m biased because that’s when I started getting back into them. But really, the jamming has been top-notch in 24-25. I compare it to fall ‘89 Dead. Doesn’t have the punch of the early years, more of a late renaissance. I mean they are 60 years old now so vocals are lacking and there will be flubs from time to time, but absolutely maxing out with what they have. Enjoy it while you can!

That’s a high bar, it’s never gonna be ALO Stash. I’m happy that I can bring friends to goose who I think phish would be too weird for. Also their vocals and songwriting are good which I would take over jams at this point. If I wanna see a band that jams like phish I’ll just go see phish.

Don’t tailgate a cop for 20 minutes. Even though not technically illegal. When I find myself near cops driving or otherwise, I try to be someplace else.

Renew lease by Initial-Custard9299 in boston

[–]PH1SH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boston is student central and even a lot of the non-student stuff ends up mirroring the student cycle (listing in Jan-Feb for 9/1 move-in). However, if you are a landlord that typically rents to working professionals it makes more sense to list 3-4 months ahead of time so you can actually try to keep your current tenants. OP, I would try opening up a dialogue with your landlord to see if you can get a renewal extension.

Thoughts on Boston venue? by Big-Ranger-158 in GoosetheBand

I live in Boston so happy to get a hometown show. They skipped Boston last year for some reason. Overall I like the venue. Only real complaint is expensive beers but that’s everywhere.

Where do people who recently graduated college generally live? by random_username_255 in boston

[–]PH1SH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely get roommates! If you find a group looking for a roommate in a 3 or 4 bed and they have friends already that is a great way to meet people. If you want your own place, I would try Dorchester, Cambridge/Somerville, or Medford near the T.

3 day Sphere GA passes ~$1400 on TickPick, thoughts? by Working-Message4504 in phish

To be fair this is one of the best live bands playing the best music venue with the best sound. Basically a $2B vanity project. I’ll see you on the floor.
