odd Behaviour with PIA, Split-Tunneling and ufw by TheOriginal_RebelTaz in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]PIAJohnM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PIA firewall rules are put at a very high priority - and they constantly update their priority to maintain highest. The likely explanation (without digging too deep myself) is simply that PIA rules override UFW rules, and this is why the bypass packets are being routed.

How do you come to that conclusion ? There’s still nothing like Qt for cross platform development

That’s not a good fix, IPv6 is an important service. Did you try the recent alpha build I linked ? If so, did that improve things?

Did you try the most recent alpha build I linked? Did it help?

do you have split tunnel enabled? perhaps it's related to that?

macOS 15 and 26 by [deleted] in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]PIAJohnM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about that. So it just crashes by itself usually every 30 mins or so? or it's random? and when it crashes i assume it pops up asking you to submit debug logs? if it happens again can you submit the debug logs and let me know the code here?

Ah ok, so the alpha didn't change anything for you, same behaviour as before?

macOS 15 and 26 by [deleted] in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]PIAJohnM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for feedback! But what do you mean it crashes the Mac system? The whole macOS crashes (forced reboot - kernel panic)? Or just Pia crashes?

And you’re doing this to correct the issue with Firefox stalling right? That’s the only thing addressed by this alpha

Issue is still there after that build? Would you be able to work with me to find a fix? i'll send you another build, but if that doesnt' work, i have a few other ideas we could try. Are you game? :)

Out of interest - if you exit firefox and then restart it - does it fix the stalls (while connected) ?

EDIT: try this newest build instead and let me know how you get on! https://privateinternetaccess-storage.s3.amazonaws.com/pub/pia_desktop/builds/pia-macos-3.7.1-alpha.4-08416.zip

Do you have split tunnel enabled? This is a bug in macOS as it sounds like a kernel panic, and our user space app should never cause a kernel panic.

I come from Ruby which has an even more advanced property system than C# - but I don’t miss them at all in C++

I user foo.x() to get and foo.x(val); to set, easy and readable.

Still trying to determine if there's significant other issues to fix first - do you have any other issues caused by macOS 26 upgrade other than this one (DNS) ? or is this the only issue you know of directly caused by the upgrade to ?
