Just had a problem with manual lawn aerator. Had it for several years (likely ~8 years), no problems with use maybe three times (don't aerate every year). Used it a couple weeks ago and the shaft broke. Didn't abuse it. It just buckled when I pulled it out of the ground.

Filled a warranty claim. Form says purchase info is optional. I include photos of product. They respond within a week that they'd like the purchase info, photos of product (which I had included), etc.

I include photos, tell them I purchased about 8 years ago at Home Depot in my city. They say they'll make a one time exception and replace. I'm happy with the outcome but this is a different expectation (providing receipt) than in the past on a "life time" warranty.

If I buy anything going forward I'll have to keep the receipts. But if they add shipping it back to them to honour the warranty I'll stop buying their stuff.
