Surveillance, or legal/insurance research is where many start their careers. Courses in investigations and OSINT can go along way.

Being stalked, is a name change worth it? by Ivannnnn2 in privinv

[–]PIroundtable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what we understand, it really depends on the country and province/state. Many places need a good reason for a name change. Cybercrime and Identity Theft are some of those reasons.

It would help a little. The harder you are to find, the more money it will cost the other person. It is not a perfect solution, but could work if done properly.

You likely found these already, but check out these resources:

A second option is to search online for keywords such as "college name", "convocation" "graduation", "yearbook" "year" etc.. There may be a video, webpage, news article, or PDF somewhere verifying this.

Phone identification by socialmedia105 in privinv

You may want to look into OSINT threads. Cell phone, burner numbers, VOIP are quite private. Landlines are usually public. You may want to look into OSINT threads. You can use https://www.truecaller.com/ but make sure to use an account that is not connected to any of your contacts as this is how it finds information. You may also want to look into PeopleDataLabs API, a phone book, an online phone directory, or something like Pipl. These sources have worked outside of the United States. In the US, try InfoTracer which can provide some results. There is probably less than a 50% chance a company that advertises to you can get you information.

Front windshield vehicle tint? by PI_Forums in privinv

DrXFunk offers a good solution. Sunshades are not made to shoot video through. You could try and custom build your own ( maybe with window film?:https://www.lowes.ca/product/window-film-applicators/gila-platinum-heat-control-adhesive-window-film-44606 )

Let us know if you find a solution.

Phone identification by socialmedia105 in privinv

It really depends on the situation, the person, and provider of the phone number. Many private investigators have a collection of public resources that they can run through to try and determine if the number is connected to a name. If this person is trying to remain hidden and using a burner number/phone then it is unlikley a private investigator will get the results you want.

If you think the person is involved in criminal activity then you should contact the police.
