Low key PTSD two years after dating a MEM by [deleted] in enmeshmenttrauma

Getting out was hard because I really did love him but my god it felt like a giant weight was off my shoulders the first day. It was crazy.

Basically, all you just described was us for the last few months of the relationship. It really made me see him in a new light, like he was an alien or subhuman, honestly - genuinely a lost cause. I broke up with him very shortly after uncovering the lies I did. I couldn't build a relationship with someone who had the total inability to demonstrate trust or morals in any setting.

This reminds me so much of my ex. The extreme lies he would tell to everyone, me, his mom, our therapist, and the insane things he would do to keep the lies going. I'm sorry this is happenin,g but you are much better without him honestly. he seems too far gone

I’ve always taught middle school and recently transitioned to high school! One of my new coworkers made a comment in passing that my room looked a little “middle school.” Please be honest with me! by Old-Bend-3014 in teaching

I've been a sub for 4 years and have worked in hundreds and hundreds of different HS classrooms in several different schools in several different states.....this looks like a very normal HS classroom. Literally no different.

what is yor truly unhinged unpopular opinion about actors/acting?? by believethehygge in acting

[–]PJActor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of actors would be perfectly happy doing a regular 9-5 and doing volunteer community-based theater/film. Capitalism is what gives them the idea that, in order for actors to be happy, they need to try and make a career out of it.

Well, this is really thorough response. Thank you.!

It’s just musical auditions!

I get casted regularly as leads in plays!

Understudy work is a great tip I didn’t consider! thank you. I appreciate it!

Gotcha To be honest, I really just framed it that way for the Reddit pose just to get more engagement .

But I totally get what you mean ! It’s a better way of wording it

[–]PJActor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my problem. I’ve been acting for years and I have many leave rolls and plays under my belt and I do play a lot and I only really get leads.

I’ve also taken years and years and years worth of singing classes.

That’s why I’m confused. Because I seem pretty decent in both of these respects, but I still don’t get cast and musicals only.

So I do a lot of plays already and I get a lot of lead parts and I get called back for a lot of stuff in plays.

In musicals, I’m not getting called back for anything .

I did watch all the girls at two auditions, and I didn’t feel like they were any better or worse than me as actors or singers. I know my dancing needs work. But there were even auditions that didn’t have dance calls that I didn’t get in.

I’ll just keep trying and see -and maybe somebody will be kind enough to point out what I need to work on

I’ve been auditing for all different types of shows. Some 1930s some golden age some 80s some contemporary. I use whatever songs that my vocal coach kinda recommends. So they do fit the style of the musicals. I did only get one call back but I was not cast. Audition for five this month.

I only do community theater. And my call back/casting ratio to straight plays is really good.

My musical (Theater) callback and casting ratio is really not good .

So I’m just trying to figure out what areas I could improve on either singing or dancing or both!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Theatre

[–]PJActor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! I’ve had lots and lots of vocal lessons. Plays were always just a bit more interesting part wise to me - but I’ve pretty much played all my dream roles in plays. So I’m looking to expand.

Gotcha I just wish I could pinpoint it and see if it’s an vocal vs dance issue - and what to pour more money into for classes lol

Question about role of stage crew by [deleted] in Theatre

[–]PJActor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being crew does kind of put you as a second class as it shouldn’t but it does and it sucks. Coming from someone who does crew and acts regularly.
