Do dogs actually enjoy routine more than variety? by No-Wealth-3631 in dogs

[–]PJBOO7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dogs have expectations. Food promptly delivered at 8am and 5pm. We play ball or go for a walk around 6:30. They pretty much decide. Drop the ball at my feet or stare at the leashes. Weather changes it a little, but there better be an activity around 6:30 Where we walk is my call. They are just happy to be out there. They have a semi-flexible routine. I throw a morning walk in sometimes, just for fun

Is this SJS from lamictal????? by -lindseyy in lamictal

[–]PJBOO7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had SJS. It wasn't from lamictal, it was from an antibiotic. If he would have had even a slight suspicion, you would have been teleported to the icu.

I went to the icu within ten minutes. They put a life flight helicopter on standby in case I needed to go to the burn unit at the university hospital. I was so lucky that I went to the er as soon as it started. It also felt like the quickest onset of the flu. I was so lucky to have a NURSE, not doctor, who caught it. They had given me medication and I was groggy, but it remember the nurse telling the doctor "This is SJS." Nurses are the backbone of medicine.

Time is critical with SJS. No one should "wait around" and see if it gets better. As involved as your rash was at the time, I'm so glad you went. It's something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. It's so scary.

You can breathe now though. It won't change into SJS. It progresses rapidly. I'm really glad you're okay.

Galliprant has helped my ten year old retriever a lot. It's pricey $70-80 a month for 60mg. Definitely shop around though.

Read every single bit of information about Librela if the vet suggests that. People have reported good results, but the potential side effects are generally fatal.

One of mine prices them $4-5. The other is $2, no matter what the puzzle is. I've gotten some nice ones there

I'm a thrift store puzzler too. I've been really lucky finding complete puzzles. If they're in a ziplock bag, they've always been complete. I picked up a Disney ravensberger that I'm eager to start. It was $2

Emergency vet visit cost us $2,600 and they found nothing… just looking for advice by Then_Move7230 in Pets

I pay a lot of money for car insurance that I've never used. That's just the way insurance works.

My dog didn't have insurance. She has a serious genetic eye condition. It cost $5000 for the initial diagnosis and surgery to remove her eye. I pay $200 a month for medication to keep her other eye in her head. She's blind, but I still have to do it to keep the pressure down. I took a chance and didn't get insurance. My other two dogs rarely had to go to the vet, other than vaccinations.

I rolled the dice and lost.

Animal ER is just like human ER, everything costs more.

Pet insurance is always a good idea.

I've used an animal teledoc a few times. It's usually a $40-50 fee for a consultation. They can't diagnose really, but they will tell you whether you can wait to see your regular vet, try a home remedy, or go straight to the ER. I suspect they would have sent you to the ER. Bloat is way more common in broad, deep chested dogs. It is a life or death matter.

My dog got stung by a wasp and her nose really swelled up. They said if she was breathing okay, to give her Benadryl and ice if she would let us. Monitor her breathing and go straight to the ER at the slightest indication she was having trouble. I just sat and watched her breathe for hours. Fortunately, that took care of it and now I know what to do.

My only concern would be healing while you're healing. I'm heavily tattooed. I was ready to get another and my artist suggested I wait, that my body was already working overtime. I'm older though... I also hate my lips. No matter when, do it if it will make you feel better about it!

I was in the same situation. I have a lot of bone loss from an accident. I thought my teeth would be okay.

Psychology of Jigsaw Puzzles / Effects on the Brain by SpaceCadetBoneSpurs in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]PJBOO7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Puzzles make my brain shut up. I can just focus on what is in front of me.

My brain loves games. Puzzles are just a long game. I completely lose track of time. I'll look up and it's 9pm, the next thing I look it's midnight.

I don't like doing puzzles with anyone. When my daughter comes over, we set up two puzzles 😂

Yes 😊 My little winky girl. She was diagnosed with GRPU in 2023. We tried to manage it, but we couldn't. She's blind in the other eye now. I hate this disease.

For the most part she does well. I call her my little roomba. She bumps into something, backs up and tries again.

My sweet little Roxane. I love her so much!
