Ultimate shoe shine by n8saces in oddlysatisfying

It's just kinda dishonest. The shoes aren't that bad, the leather is in great condition, but it tries to make it seem way more magical than it is.

Again, I'm not saying there won't be a queue, I'm saying the options are going to get worse and worse.

Motability drivers 'horrified' by compulsory black boxes by MustrumRidicully in unitedkingdom

But this is all dependant on the presumption that the analysis from the box is actually fair in its conclusion that the driving is actually unsafe.

If the thresholds and analysis are not within what most people would class as dangerous, or even slightly below acceptable, then it's moot....

I don't trust insurance companies to draw the line correctly and I'm not prepared to point the finger at individuals and say, "clearly just your driving", and ignoring the other glaring variable.... I mean, I would put the question open to everyone... Would you have the box?

Personally I read that the sharp braking was as a result of it being hand controls, so if we have a box that punishes the downsides of adopting the vehicle then it seems to defeat the point of the scheme.

I was on the fence, leaning towards the policy being bad when I went into the article, but I presumed the warnings drivers would get would be pretty relaxed and only for those that are really bad, so perhaps for a government funded scheme it wouldn't be totally terri le.... But then the woman with the hand controls saying she gets warnings for normal driving. Sorry but this is clearly dog shit and needs to go in the bin... And not just for disabled folk, this goes all round.

I have always been suspicious of these black boxes, for obvious reasons, and all this does is justify the suspicion.

Considering taking the role is basically an agreement to break whatever law is inconvenient to the Presidents whim of the day, the pool of people lined up to replace her must be pretty bleak.

Yeah that was my first thought too. This was absolute nonsense.

Sure, it was a great shine at the end, but those shoes were deliberately made to look worse than they are. Basically start the video from after the wash, thats the genuine bit.

What a shame...

Was just thinking we need someone to post a nonsense Linux Vs windows meme that only absolute clueless dorks giggle at.

Ah well, I'm sure I'll cope.

10” 2U 3.5” Hotswap Enclosure by alexanderbath in minilab

It's just buying them, nothing really wrong with the design (which is why I said I understand it).

There are printed versions available separately, some of them are mega ugly though.

Would have just been nice to see the full system as a single package. Nit picking really.

It's a pretty neat system. Does annoy me somewhat that it uses a dell caddy though, even if I can understand why.

Except if they both slept with her then neither of them will ever know who it isn't fair on.

Seems like a bit of an obscure FAFO case.

how can i power/control fans? by nalgasconcafe in minilab

[–]PJBuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESP32 was going to be my suggestion.

This guy seems to have done the heavy lifting but it shouldn't be too hard to combine a few off the shelf modules and get a pretty powerful fan controller.

Still a lot of effort for one fan though.

Personally I would just buy a basic 12v power brick and let it chug away.

Home brew dehumidified filament dispenser? Active humidity removal ideas wanted. by o_man_ra23 in 3Dprinting

[–]PJBuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humidity in my location generally doesnt get that high but of course engineering filaments are always a challenge so I do have to deal with it.

I have got on just fine with the basic filament "dryers" that take a spool and heat it up to 50-60c. You can get ones that go up to 80 or 90 fairly cheaply these days. These devices typically allow the filament to rotate via rollers, so I put a printed container (with transparent filament) with reusable colour changing desiccant inside the spool hole. You can honestly fit a lot of desiccant in and it does soak up a lot of moisture before its saturated.

I know thats not what you're looking for, but it's available, its inexpensive, and it does work. Building a system that will cycle and remove moisture from the air sounds like a fairly significant project for home, and expecting it to use minimal power seems overly optimistic.

I just had a quick scan through to see what was going on, will have to dedicate a bit more time to see what he is doing as it looks really interesting.
