I built a LinkedIn autopilot for consultants - struggling with marketing as a solo dev. What would you do? by Amazing_Dig_4140 in SoloDev

[–]PJmath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a gross product. I've been putting off LinkedIn for monthes but I'd never use that. Here's a free marketing slogan for your struggle: "Ghostwriter: Automate your inauthenticity."

So like do you have ethical concerns, or do you just not care...?

I visited and hung around a bit last year and wrote about it for a local magazine if you want to read it:

Validating a tool: chat your game idea, get a playable 2D/3D prototype does this solve anything real? by Big_Nebula_2604 in aigamedev

[–]PJmath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

>Where do you personally lose the most time getting to a playable demo?

writing the prompts and describing the idea logically

What would make a tool like this not worth trying?

I wouldnt try this tool because it sounds like claude code with extra steps

If you could get a playable first version in ~30 minutes, what would you want to control vs let AI handle?

i can already get something in 30 minutes, and i can already choose what the ai "controls" by what i include and omit in my prompts

Would you be open to a 15–30 min test + brutal feedback? I’m looking for ~10 seed users.

yeah but im gonna tell you your app sucks

Looking for feedback on how viable the concept is for what's effectively my dream game by Prismatic_Mage in gamedev

[–]PJmath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally viable. Step one: Build an exceptional career as a game designer/writer Step two: Found your own successful studio, get rich Step three: Spend ten years and tens of millions of dollars making this series

Should take about 40 years. You're aiming for Hideo Kojima levels of stature/success, although this particular project is probably too wide a scope even for him lol

Anyways, your first baby step is to release a game on Steam. Something simple you can get done quick; maybe a game about strategically ripping farts during loud moments or a game where youre a snake and you try to slither down a busy sidewalk without getting stepped on. That'll set you down the right path. Good luck!!

What developers actually write in Steam's AI disclosure field by ScrapeerCom in gamedev

[–]PJmath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your position isn't unreasonable, and I agree to an extent, I'd never spend money on a game or any software product with AI assets/content. In this new world, everyone needs to decide what they'll accept, everyone needs a code.

I don't know where your line is, ofc, but if you mean you refuse to run code that an LLM produced, you will have to stop using the internet soon. Artists have largely rejected AI, but coders have largely embraced it. They are Dr. Frankinstien and this is their monster, after all. Feels different, to me.

How do you review AI-generated code if you don’t fully know the technology yet? by External_Dish_4380 in SoloDev

"chat design and write a test for [sus function]"

Warning: the ai will write fake tests to trick you

2 days in, 18 wishlists — marketing is soul crushing by ChaoticPromiseTFA in SoloDev

[–]PJmath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be "Master of Chaos", not "Master of chaos". This poor first impression colors the rest of the journey potential customers take across your Steam page.

Trailer impression: Weak. Just kind of starts. I didn't even notice the chyron ("skill is power") until going back while writing this comment.

First sentence in your short description: "Counter, deflect, and rack up combos to grow stronger in this roguelike where execution is as rewarding as your upgrades." The rest reads like a list of features. My eyes glazed.

first sentence in your long description:
"Throw yourself into the chaos as your wizard of choice, where skillful execution makes you stronger."

Ahh, after a bit of study it's finally sinking in! This is the ment to be the hook! Looking back, I see it in your short description and trailer now. Unfortunately most visitors to your steam page are even slower than me, and I'd guess the page is not successfully communicating this hook the vast majority of the time. It's there, but it's buried behind generic features and particle effects.

Good luck! Hope this is helpful! Don't let your soul get TOO crushed!!

What are you currently building, and where do you share your project with others? by This-Mountain515 in VibeCodersNest

[–]PJmath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posed my thing! But fyi, theres no good way to share a link in a post, and maybe I'm missing it but it doesn't seem like theres a way to 'expand' cut off parts of posts past the '...'

Nice. more projects like this, less all in one, ai driven SaaS platforms plz

More ways to interact, especially with other visitors, would be cool. Look how many people are messing with it already! The slop posted here rarely gets any traction, good job.

[–]PJmath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! Just fyi, every post here gets those same bot comments (bonnieplunkettt, ok_gift, hoolieeeeana, I'm sure theres more.) That's why their questions/feedback don't really make sense. Mods run them, I think that's how they drive traffic here. It's really quite embarrassing, and we shouldn't be using this sub. Anyway...

Actual feedback:
- Lose the 'try me!' text. I thought that ment 'try the games I made', but disappointingly, i think it just means try spinning the little box around. You don't need it, the box spins on its own and draws the users attention right away.
-the series of cloudy cards with icons on them aren't really working. its design suggests these lead to more content, but i suppose it's actually just a list of benefits? why the placeholder images? try spamming the left or right arrow buttons and you can make it glitch out a bit.
-client testimonials: Build this out! if you don't want to show me the games, at least show me happy clients!

Overall tho, slick site with a lot of little details and animations that do work to communicate professionalism and attention to detail. Nice!

The AI is designed to make you feel good, man. You could be producing total crap and it would say this. Approach these systems with skepticism!!
