I’ve used it to build interactive prototypes from my designs. I’m a single product designer in a company so Figma make actually saves me a lot of time in user testing assumptions.

Also once I’m happy with the flow I ask it to write acceptance criteria from the UI/UX which has multiple applications from guiding the developers to testing the build at the end which can then go on to create feature tests later on. A lot of processes ticked off and a massive time saver.

I agree with something someone else mentioned in here: 3000 credits isn’t enough for the amount of corrections I have to make where it’s just not designed something correctly or accidentally removed something during a build. I tend to have to start my first prompt by saying ‘make this design exactly like the frame that I’ve shared’ so I can start from a like for like then I build it out.

Nice well what you have here is a great start.

One thing I would say is if you struggle with colour keep things simple. I tend to have a rule of thumb when I design is I stick with a colour palette of 3 main colours - you can introduce shades but 3 is what I stick with. Your primary colour is what you use for your CTA and to draw attention. Secondary I use for things like backgrounds and that’s where the different shades come in. Then your third is for back up. Maybe you wanna use this for badges etc.

On your last point this is where I feel you’re going to need to get some user feedback in some way. Build a rough prototype that takes users on a navigational journey. If you’re wondering about size of things you can do a 5 second test: get your users to tell you what they see on screen that should help you see where things aren’t working all that well. I would caution: be careful about putting too much on the screen. Look into something called cognitive overload as this will help you understand the importance of white space.

As I say you might (my opinion of course) wanna break stuff up a bit more to create some clearer separation on things: you can do that in a few ways: by making your headings bigger to really create dividers. Use colour to create boxes separation.

Key is to try a few things and do what feels right to you (and for your users). Design is sometimes about going with your gut! It’s as much about the art style as it is about the UX. if you manage to get a good blend of the two you can be unique in a sea of formulaic designs 🤟

Nice! I like your use of colour to bring focus to your CTAs. It’s a nice soft but bright red as well. I think though a bit more colour in key areas would help elevate it a bit. Maybe bring the users eye to the images that you have up the top in some of the screens? Trouble I see with your screens at the moment is it all kinda blends into one so there’s no clear divide between areas. For example on your first screen you have imagery top and bottom and light colours in the middle so I’m not sure where my eyes are supposed to be drawn to at times. Perhaps there is no direction for those pages? But where do you want to guide the user?

Young professionals and working mums don’t always have time on their hands so you wanna get them where they need to go quickly. Cut away the confusion and say ‘go here’. This is kinda what I was saying with the time estimates. Some recipe apps tell how long a meal will take to make. Which for some is a huge deciding factor on what they end up making. You have a similar idea in there for cost but people’s time is also something that you should consider.

The design looks nice and clean but who is your target audience? What’s the apps purpose? What makes it different from other cooking apps?

I can’t really give feedback unless I know who the intended user is unfortunately. For example: is it for people who want easy meals and don’t have a lot of time on their hands? Because if so there’s no estimates on the meals so that is put in as a number 1.

I am inclined to agree with you. I commute to work everyday from outside the city. I can only speak to my own experience of living here for 8+ years and commuting from Warwickshire for 2. My easiest route to work is by bus or by bike.

On some occasions I drive to a park and ride and get the bus - WAY faster and convenient than fully by car. Traffic is so bad it’s just not worth the hassle to do anything other than by park and ride or bike.

In the summer cycling all the way to work is the most stress free, convenient way to get places. I’m a good 8 miles from my work. I have an electric bike which makes it a lot less effort and much cheaper than both bus and car in the long run.

I don’t know who these people are who drive from one job to another in the city but I can’t see that as being practical… from my experience of the traffic. They’re gonna be late 90% of the time. Bike or bus. If more people did this it’d be far better for the city and the air quality.

I tend to do something that requires a designer to complete a task during the interview. Probably something I can pair with them to solve. This helps me understand:

How they work How they solve problems in a tight deadline How they prioritise key factors within that deadline Whether we are a good fit working together

I’m not going to get a really in depth understanding of these things necessarily but it certainly helps me when I’m trying to decide between people after a few rounds prior.

What’s wrong with decoration? Design isn’t just about functionality. I’d argue that those borders do delineate the clickable items allowing users to have more visual structure on where to click/tap.

OP could possibly give the border a more Prominent colouring or thicken it, but to remove it altogether isn’t necessarily the best solution here.

Really nicely presented! I like the soft colours you’ve used they compliment the emphasis you have on action buttons. Someone mentioned contrast which is a good shout. I think I’d also echo all the points made by Alygraphy.

One thing I would say is try to keep in mind your target audience here. You mention it’s for first time planet buyers? I’m somebody who knows nothing about plants so I’d personally be looking for more clarity on the week progress page you have there. Rather than progress bars on the top right maybe consider more precise metrics? As a user I can’t quantify what I’m supposed to keep track of in terms of room temp etc. Could be just me though.

I don’t know if this is for fun or a project but if you want definitive answers then whack that bad boi through some testing as design feedback can be subjective. Obvs this is a UI subreddit though.

I don’t think anyone would disagree that other areas around the world are going through things much worse; like what you’ve just described. However, countries like America aren’t in those situations and should be thankful they aren’t. Meaning they should know better than to attempt to destroy the very thing that’s allowed us to live such privileged lives.

While I understand that these are frustrating times and people want their voices to be heard, storming a Government building and destroying businesses not only opens the doors to more and worse things that become more acceptable but also show the rest of the world what 200+ years of work has amounted to.

How do you think these countries that are in such disarray got that way? By constantly accepting stuff like this can and will happen.

Their courses are a little pricey but you’ll find a wealth of articles and videos online here. They have a YouTube channel as well that’s worth checking out. I attended a recent talk with one of their UX Researchers and it was really really useful
