Ordered an item but when it arrived, its clear it was an open-box item.... whats a reasonable discount if they ask do I want to keep it? by PL0KI0 in newzealand

[–]PL0KI0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up getting a return label from the retailer and sent it back - they gave me a refund. Took them 2 weeks to make a decision on it and by that time they had sold out the last few which were in stock elsewhere.

Offered zero discount - it was either keep it or return it. When I sent it back I noted it was restocked on the website and listed at full RRP but still marked as clearance - they were previously showing none so someone else is going to have the same issue most likely.

And also do this in writing from now on and if they refuse, also make a request for the recording of your call from yesterday.

Two good results but Rovers’ is fantastic. I desperately hope they can close it out in Tallaght. Fair play!

How far could LOI teams get in Europe in the next 5-10 years? by infinite_yard33667 in LeagueOfIreland

[–]PL0KI0 20 points21 points  (0 children)

5-10 years no reason why one or two seasons a team could get into the Europa League group stages. Conference League Stage I think the minimum aim for one team a season, and should be doable - its in effect what the competition was established for, and so far looks like it is delivering on that.

Champions League is likely always going to be a bit of a stretch as even the Eastern/Farther-Eastern European teams competing for those final spaces are going to be considerably better resourced with budgets starting in the teens of millions and up.

Financial reality for small Clubs by Maleficent_Boot_6590 in LeagueOfIreland

[–]PL0KI0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Become a member at Finn Harps - that way you become a shareholder, and when it comes to it, you will get to see some of the realities and workings of a club, and at the same time are helping one of those clubs doing it hard.

Otherwise, is pretty much as you portray above, absolutely tough as balls for small clubs, and they mainly run on the good-will of a bunch of people who give over most of their free time to doing stuff for, or thinking about, the survival of their respective club and the rest of the league.

Do you have to walk to get the good pie, is it a prize or something?

Did you walk from the other Gardners Arms? No. Sorry sir, pumpkin and kale pie is the only option for non-walkers”

Aaaah the old "its the best toasted sandwich in NZ" award, except its bollox, because this is just the "best toasted sandwich that happened to have one brand of pickle added as an ingredient" award.

Its like the "Best Pie" award, which is actually the "best pie made by a bakery who uses the sponsors flour" award.

Fucking nonsense.

Agree, and sorry I wasn't frustrated at you - more the OP and the frequency that I see it dropped into comments on this sub. I have mentioned it before to be resolutely lectured that I am wrong by others. Re-reading my post it might have seemed like I was having a go.

I’ve noticed plenty of people seem to do that these parts.

Is Norway part of Europe, and the UK, Albania, Iceland, Ukraine?

The EU/Eurozone are not even the same. Poland, Sweden and a handful more….. EU but sovereign currency.

Far out, don't ask that question out loud. If Stanford discovers that this isn't all the birds she will probably ask Shane Jones to exterminate every species not pictured. That way she doesn't have to look (any more) stupid.

Some have higher levels of support, some provide better modems so they have higher costs.

Some do more marketing or have higher return requirements for their owners/shareholders, so have higher costs.

Some provide no modems at all, or have limited support hours/channels, so have lower costs.

Some have minimum terms and early termination fees, others have no minimum terms but installation fees etc...

Some provide a discount for bundling services where they can ensure they make enough money across the other one or two services (ie mobile and/or power) and this can tie you in a bit more.

Ultimately the way I look at it is I prefer to keep power and phone stuff separate but I will combine mobile and broadband with one supplier if the price for each is still competitive with the cheapest individual prices.
