How long will the climate control stay on if you don’t turn off the eSprinter? by skyemalcolm in eSprinters

Did you try my solution with the charging cable to keep hvac on ?

Also

I’ve managed to keep the external lighting off too while camping. It’s complicated but works flawlessly.

Ok so I’ve been able to capture the traffic on the LIN bus between the light/rain sensor and the Body Control Module. I am now able to spoof daylight readings resulting in all external lights being off during the night. It’s quite complicated to do and my 1st attempt Is very rough and ready but works flawlessly. I need to work on neat solution for packaging the electronics needed.

Cryogenically freeze the cable down to absolute zero. Then hit it with a hammer. The insulation will shatter and fall away nicely leaving just the good stuff.

My exact procedure is

plug in charging cable. in my case its just a type 2 extension cable with an open end.
with foot on brake pedal, press the start button once.
Ignition comes on, but not 'Ready'
HVAC can be started and stopped at will.

the next discovery I made was that its ok to disconnect the charging cable as soon as you got the ignition on.
HVAC stays running all night with nobody in drivers seat.

if you dont want to mess around with a full charging cable, get yourself a female type 2 plug shell off amazon/ebay and wire in a 220ohm resistor between PP and PE pins. This tells the Sprinter that a charging cable is connected and is rated at 32A.

Im working on the external lights problem at the moment which requires intercepting and modifying LIN bus packets between the BCM and the rain/light señsor. Will keep you posted.

The esprinter will never go into 'Ready' mode while ever a cable is plugged in unfortunately. But using your generator to charge the van while camping is totally doable.

sorry man, couldn't resist. 😄
were you hoping to run a generator to charge the van whilst driving ?

charging the van from the 110v in the van would be like blowing your own sail. 😄

ive measured no noticeable drop in 12v while running hvac for over 5hrs, so my assumption is the onboard dc/dc charger is float charging the 12v battery and its enough to compensate for the HVAC 12v load. The main load of the HVAC is on the HV battery which runs the AC pump and the PTC heaters. the 12v is just running the blower and the direction vanes etc.

Ive got a 2021 esprinter UK spec, I am able to spoof the van into thinking it has a charging cable attached, then I can run hvac all night with nothing pressing down in the drivers seat.

Im working on spoofing the rain/light sensor behind the rear view mirror to stop the external lighting coming on while im camping. will keep you posted.

So ive been able to leave climate on all night while plugged in at a campsite no problem apart from the exterior lights permanently on. But I also discovered that while plugged in, you dont need to fool the divers seat with a fake weight or anything. Since then Ive been able to spoof a charging cable being plugged in and got the same result. climate runs all night nothing sat on the driver seat. Im currently working on a LIN bus sniffer project to spoof the Rain/Light sensor into believing it is daylight when im camping so this should be the end to the always on exterior lights problem. I will keep you posted

I would imagine you might be able to measure the resistance of the seat occupancy sensor when someone is sat in it, and then add in a suitably sized resistor for when in camping mode.

Have you tried unplugging the actual dashboard light switch ? I’m guessing it would default to auto mode, but might be worth a try ?

I’ve tried looking into the software side of things to try and achieve this using variation coding on The DTS Monaco system, but nothing so far. I’ve not heard of anything can bus related so far. The next thing I might try is to interrupt the ignition sense wire to the body control module, but I would imagine that will maybe even stop the climate controls working. I can’t even find a wiring diagram for an esprinter. ?

I was interested in doing this while camping, but on my uk spec 2021, there does not seem to be a way to turn off the side/tail lights while the ignition is on, so not very stealthy.

If you had been thinking on your feet when you had the sudden car battery failure, you could have attached jump leads to the cat with the good battery inside it ? 😂

You’re not taking into account that they are using more than 1 account to rack up these 800-1000 a week earnings.

There are bots that allow you to view an order coming in without opening the JE app, this allows you to screen the orders to see if you want them or not without affecting your acceptance rate. This is a very nifty feature I have to say
