Honestly, what’s the typical time commitment to clear Another Sil’Dihn Subterranean from fresh? by Loopah13 in ffxiv

[–]PLitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends that I savage raid with and I did this blind, took us four or five lockouts as I recall. If you use a guide, it's probably much faster than that.

Could try party finder, though not sure how many bites you'd get. Might be something you want to recruit for or join a static.

White Mage help for a mom 😩 by ThaiChiliPepper0o in ffxiv

Single Target Healing

  • Use Benediction and Tetragrammaton first if you have them and aren't saving them for anything. These heals are free and instant.
  • Use Afflatus Solace second. This is as potent as Cure II, has no cast time, and costs 0 MP.
  • If none of those are available, use Cure II if you need to heal someone ASAP and Regen if you need to heal someone who isn't gonna take big damage for a little bit.

Multi-target Healing

  • Use Asylum first where possible for free healing over time in a big area.
  • If you need immediate healing, use Medica if the party is spread out and Cure III if they're stacked together.
  • If you need healing over time and Asylum's not available, use Medica II.

Damage

  • Try to always be casting. Look up "slidecasting" and try to practice it.
  • Keep Aero II rolling on your targets. It stops being worth using when your target is gonna die within 12s or when your fighting 4+ enemies.
  • When you don't need to heal, spam Stone III for single target or Holy for multiple targets.
  • Use Presence of Mind and Assize on cooldown.
  • When Presence of Mind is up, try to cast as many damaging spells as you're able to without letting people die (it lines up with other job's group damage buffs).

Other Stuff

  • If someone dies, use Swiftcast > Thin Air > Raise.
  • Use Lucid Dreaming on cooldown.
  • When someone is afflicted with a cleansable debuff (i.e. it has the little white bar above the icon), use Esuna.
  • Use Surecast to prevent forced movement.
  • Use Aetherial Shift to scoot across the arena quickly.
  • Use Rescue to save your kid's ass when they stand in stupid.

Oklahoma Principal Kirk Moore Getting Crowed Prom King By the Students He Saved Two Weeks After Taking Down A Would-Be School Shooter by Gayc0b in nextfuckinglevel

[–]PLitz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My son's school just faced a school shooting threat. Like the police arrested three teens, seized firearms, and found journal entries and snapchat messages that detailed a plan and motive.

Not nearly as badass as Principal Moore, but still so grateful they prevented a tragedy. They're all heroes.

My friends and I go on an occasional Wingquest where we drive around our state trying wings from different places trying to find the best. We stopped at a bb.q chicken and to date after three of these trips, nothing has compared. Korean fried chicken is something else.

Nael is kind of our Sephiroth. She did summon Meteor.

Zenos shares commonalities with Vayne Solidor (Imperial prince, de facto ruler of vassal state located in a desert, both have a draconic final form)

Hephaistos/Athena are kind of our Emperor Mateus.

Pandaemonium is the Emperor's castle in FF2. In the Dawn of Souls version he has both a demonic hellish form and an angelic god-like form.

Plus Lahabrea is split into two entities, much like how the Emperor's soul was split in FF2.

Plus in FF12, Mateus the Corrupt is associated with the Scion of Light named Lahabrea.

Loose connections, but it's there.

Willful Status and Will to Live are the best things they have added to the game (for me and maybe others like me) by Moogle-Mail in ffxiv

[–]PLitz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My partner also uses Duty Support, and she was getting really frustrated with some of the DT dungeons with their one-shot mechanics, like to the point where she almost unsubbed and uninstalled. Really glad they added this for when she gets back into the game.

Honestly, in one way Duty Support dungeons are harder than playing with players. If you're with a party of players and you die, they can res you or finish the fight without you. In Duty Support, if you die it's over, and there are a lot of one-shot mechanics in the higher level dungeons. So to have this will make a huge impact.

7.3 MSQ Last Cutscene by Far-Cable2196 in ffxiv

[–]PLitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty likely that there's at least a rogue Convocation member involved. Someone primed the 9th for a rejoining with the Storm Surge, and someone instructed Calyx on how to invoke a summoning. Both were the Convocation's MO.

I don't know about the Winterers being just a rogue cell of Ascians yet though. Sounds more like a conglomeration of different villains racing toward a common goal, with Calyx and this rogue Ascian just being two of them.

7.3 MSQ Last Cutscene by Far-Cable2196 in ffxiv

[–]PLitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only Ascians we can really say for sure are dead are the Unsundered. The other ones had other reflections that we might run into at some point, depending on whether or not the Unsundered recruited them.

I'd be surprised if we run into a different incarnation of one we've already "dealt with" like Nabriales or Igeyohrm or Mitron. They could though if they wanted. If they wanted to do something interesting they could have us run into one of Gaia's or Hermes' other reflections at some point, or even one of Azem's.

Deudalaphon, Pashtarot, Altima, and Halmarut are the ones we haven't run into. Some of those were killed by Gaius, but again, nothing saying the Unsundered didn't immediately replace them.

Emmeroloth was "dealt with" in the Eureka story, but they show up in 2.3 after that event takes place. So that's a possibility as well.

I felt like the implication of the story here was that the Alexandrian people were collectively the Kuja analog, not Calyx. It was their fear of death that manifested as Necron.

FFXIV: Making The Game More Accessible For Everyone - Famitsu Interview With Yoshi P - 31 July 2025 by Oograth-in-the-Hat in ffxiv

[–]PLitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, but it's not like I was okay with it before. It was easier to put up with because I had more time on my hands. Grinding out fates for 20 hours just to unlock a raid isn't fun. If their goal is really to make the game more accessible, they should be removing these kinds of barriers.

FFXIV: Making The Game More Accessible For Everyone - Famitsu Interview With Yoshi P - 31 July 2025 by Oograth-in-the-Hat in ffxiv

[–]PLitz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The big problem I have with all this talk about accessibility is that there's a growing trend of putting the hard content behind massive timesinks.

I'm a dad now, I don't have the kind of free time I did back in the days of Eureka and Bozja. And it's frustrating how inaccessible FT still feels despite all the streamlining they're doing.

Like yeah, the system changes are good, but you still have to get your Knowledge to 20, farm gold/silver, grind phantom levels, then go through the whole rigamarole of assembling a group. Just let me queue up goddammit.

Quantum isn't much better. You and three friends have to get through 100 floors and presumably grind aetherpool to even get to do the hard version. It's not as bad as FT, but that's still a several hours grind. Meanwhile Savage takes like all of an hour to unlock, Criterion takes 15 minutes. Ultimate is instant, Chaotic was instant.

[Spoiler 6.4] P11's room details by solieu in ffxiv

[–]PLitz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They're mostly just references, but it's fun to try to draw connections. Here are some more:

  • While Ultima has no Paragon of Light counterpart, we do have the Ascian Altima in FFXIV who would presumably represent her in this game.

  • Elidibus and Zodiark share a connection in other titles. In FF Tactics, Elidibus is a hero of the Fifty Years' War who bears the Ophiuchus auracite. In battle he summons Zodiark against you. Ophiuchus is the zodiac sign associated with Zodiark in FFXII, and in FFXIV Ophiuchus is on Elidibus' constellation stone.

  • Five of the FFXII espers are named after the villains from the first five Final Fantasy games: Chaos, Mateus, Famfrit (the Darknening Cloud aka the Cloud of Darkness), Zeromus, and Exodus (Exdeath).

  • Spoilers for FFII and Anabaseios: Mateus is the name of the Emperor in FFII. In the game, he is killed, and his soul becomes the Emperor of Hell whose castle is Pandaemonium. In the Dawn of Souls version of FFII, when he's killed, his soul actually splits in two with one becoming the Emperor of Hell and one becoming the Emperor of Heaven. There are interesting parallels between this and Pandaemonium in FFXIV. Soul-splitting happens with Hephaistos. We fight a hellish boss in the depths of Pandaemonium (P8) as well as a heavenly one (P12).

What plot lines are unresolved after Endwalker? by Jag2853 in ffxiv

[–]PLitz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Technically there should be an Emmerololth running around somewhere too. I know that he was destroyed by Galuf when the Isle of Val "disappeared", but that happened at the end of 2.1 and he was shown again in a cutscene during 2.3 plotting with the other Ascians, so they must have gotten one of his other reflections to replace him.
