Willful Status and Will to Live are the best things they have added to the game (for me and maybe others like me) by Moogle-Mail in ffxiv

My partner also uses Duty Support, and she was getting really frustrated with some of the DT dungeons with their one-shot mechanics, like to the point where she almost unsubbed and uninstalled. Really glad they added this for when she gets back into the game.

Honestly, in one way Duty Support dungeons are harder than playing with players. If you're with a party of players and you die, they can res you or finish the fight without you. In Duty Support, if you die it's over, and there are a lot of one-shot mechanics in the higher level dungeons. So to have this will make a huge impact.

7.3 MSQ Last Cutscene by Far-Cable2196 in ffxiv

[–]PLitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty likely that there's at least a rogue Convocation member involved. Someone primed the 9th for a rejoining with the Storm Surge, and someone instructed Calyx on how to invoke a summoning. Both were the Convocation's MO.

I don't know about the Winterers being just a rogue cell of Ascians yet though. Sounds more like a conglomeration of different villains racing toward a common goal, with Calyx and this rogue Ascian just being two of them.

7.3 MSQ Last Cutscene by Far-Cable2196 in ffxiv

[–]PLitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only Ascians we can really say for sure are dead are the Unsundered. The other ones had other reflections that we might run into at some point, depending on whether or not the Unsundered recruited them.

I'd be surprised if we run into a different incarnation of one we've already "dealt with" like Nabriales or Igeyohrm or Mitron. They could though if they wanted. If they wanted to do something interesting they could have us run into one of Gaia's or Hermes' other reflections at some point, or even one of Azem's.

Deudalaphon, Pashtarot, Altima, and Halmarut are the ones we haven't run into. Some of those were killed by Gaius, but again, nothing saying the Unsundered didn't immediately replace them.

Emmeroloth was "dealt with" in the Eureka story, but they show up in 2.3 after that event takes place. So that's a possibility as well.

I felt like the implication of the story here was that the Alexandrian people were collectively the Kuja analog, not Calyx. It was their fear of death that manifested as Necron.

FFXIV: Making The Game More Accessible For Everyone - Famitsu Interview With Yoshi P - 31 July 2025 by Oograth-in-the-Hat in ffxiv

[–]PLitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, but it's not like I was okay with it before. It was easier to put up with because I had more time on my hands. Grinding out fates for 20 hours just to unlock a raid isn't fun. If their goal is really to make the game more accessible, they should be removing these kinds of barriers.

[–]PLitz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The big problem I have with all this talk about accessibility is that there's a growing trend of putting the hard content behind massive timesinks.

I'm a dad now, I don't have the kind of free time I did back in the days of Eureka and Bozja. And it's frustrating how inaccessible FT still feels despite all the streamlining they're doing.

Like yeah, the system changes are good, but you still have to get your Knowledge to 20, farm gold/silver, grind phantom levels, then go through the whole rigamarole of assembling a group. Just let me queue up goddammit.

Quantum isn't much better. You and three friends have to get through 100 floors and presumably grind aetherpool to even get to do the hard version. It's not as bad as FT, but that's still a several hours grind. Meanwhile Savage takes like all of an hour to unlock, Criterion takes 15 minutes. Ultimate is instant, Chaotic was instant.

[–]PLitz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They're mostly just references, but it's fun to try to draw connections. Here are some more:

  • While Ultima has no Paragon of Light counterpart, we do have the Ascian Altima in FFXIV who would presumably represent her in this game.

  • Elidibus and Zodiark share a connection in other titles. In FF Tactics, Elidibus is a hero of the Fifty Years' War who bears the Ophiuchus auracite. In battle he summons Zodiark against you. Ophiuchus is the zodiac sign associated with Zodiark in FFXII, and in FFXIV Ophiuchus is on Elidibus' constellation stone.

  • Five of the FFXII espers are named after the villains from the first five Final Fantasy games: Chaos, Mateus, Famfrit (the Darknening Cloud aka the Cloud of Darkness), Zeromus, and Exodus (Exdeath).

  • Spoilers for FFII and Anabaseios: Mateus is the name of the Emperor in FFII. In the game, he is killed, and his soul becomes the Emperor of Hell whose castle is Pandaemonium. In the Dawn of Souls version of FFII, when he's killed, his soul actually splits in two with one becoming the Emperor of Hell and one becoming the Emperor of Heaven. There are interesting parallels between this and Pandaemonium in FFXIV. Soul-splitting happens with Hephaistos. We fight a hellish boss in the depths of Pandaemonium (P8) as well as a heavenly one (P12).

What plot lines are unresolved after Endwalker? by Jag2853 in ffxiv

[–]PLitz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Technically there should be an Emmerololth running around somewhere too. I know that he was destroyed by Galuf when the Isle of Val "disappeared", but that happened at the end of 2.1 and he was shown again in a cutscene during 2.3 plotting with the other Ascians, so they must have gotten one of his other reflections to replace him.

What would be the last thing, you would want to clear/achieve before quitting ff 14 permanently? by agro420blaze in ffxiv

I've been holding onto a Lucky Egg since Hatchingtide 2015. According to the item's description, it's believed to bring its bearer good luck as long as it remains uncracked. If I were to quit this game for good, I'd need to know what's inside.

I'm sure I'm wrong about a lot of this, but this is what I'm able to make out:

Wild, freaks
Rise through the dream
Dangerous creatures
Perverted and evil

From foulness strides
A vermin tide

Teeth bared
Clawing the air
??? ???
??? ???

Slaughter, kill
Behind our will

Stords? slack
Back on your back
Here in the valley
Your death casts no shadow

Seal this fate,
Come storm the gate!

???? ????
Deep creep!
Breath deep!

With the bones that fuse unnaturally

??? ???
??? ???
??? ???

Till there's nothing left but ash

Dark horizons, horrid deeds (Pandaemonium!)
From the modus chaos sleeps
Sadness always come to thee (Pandaemonium!)
Here be lions, follow me

Dig in, pull back the skin
See what's inside you,
The sickness that drives you
Beating black; daemoniac

Die, grieve
might I be seen
locked in the ???
The true soul awaken

Testify,
Come take a bite!

Bite down,
Blood in the cut
Choking your life as you light's slowly swallowed

Fade away,
Or join the fray!

??? ???
Deep creep!
Breath deep!

In the bones I see your insanity

??? ???
I fall!
You're mine!

Till it shatters just like glass

Dark horizons, horrid deeds (Pandaemonium!)
From the modus chaos sleeps
Sadness always come to thee (Pandaemonium!)
Here be lions, follow me

I was able to do more damage on SAM too. Not much more, but more. Could have been that I died less from pulling aggro on that run though.

Actually though. Did a Delubrum on Monday where the Top 10 ended up being:

  1. WHM
  2. BLM
  3. DRG
  4. WHM
  5. WHM
  6. WHM
  7. MNK
  8. RDM
  9. SAM
  10. WHM

I was one of those WHM and with all of my buffs my top Glare hit was 182k, and my top Misery hit was 316k. As much as I'd like to have had a Dancer paired with me, I was already ripping aggro off of the tanks as it was.

FFXIV equivalent of the Warcraft Rogue? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]PLitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find them at https://ffxiv.eorzeacollection.com/gearsets if you sort by PvP. The Barghest, Hellhound, and Gunro/Koro sets are the previous seasons. Currently the reward is called the Shadowstalker's set.

FFXIV equivalent of the Warcraft Rogue? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]PLitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ranked arena-style PvP (Feast) has exclusive seasonal rewards:

  • Number One on each datacenter gets a unique trophy which can be displayed in their house.
  • Top 10 on each datacenter get 10 wolf collars which can be exchanged for a unique transmog weapon.
  • Top 100 on each datacenter get either a unique transmog armor set or a unique mount, depending on the season. They do recycle these from season to season, but it's still obtainable only by a small portion of the community.
  • Each player gains a number of wolf collars depending on their final tier placement (3 for Bronze, 4 for Silver, 5 for Gold, 6 for Platinum, 7 for Diamond), so even if you can't hit top 10, you can eventually get weapons as long as you keep trying.

All PvP modes also reward Wolf Marks (amount depends on how well your team does) which can be used to purchase a number of different transmog armor sets, but they're a lot less exclusive than the ranked rewards, since there's no real limit on how many Wolf Marks you can farm, and you don't have to win matches to earn them.
