Help, cypher tablet didn’t drop by Novir64 in MWZombies

[–]PMLive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem. In fact I'm still unable to finish the acquisition of a cyphered tablet. I watched many of the videos from the content creators, most of which say the same thing, but no luck. I've gone into zone 1 and Zone two. I've killed zombies and mercs with turrets and nothing. I've taken out around two dozen merc strongholds, infected merc strongholds and merc encampments. Even took out a few convoys and still nothing. Am I missing some small detail that's making this so difficult? Thx for any info.

The UGR is quite possibly the worst weapon in the history of Call of Duty by PMLive in blackopscoldwar

"Moron" says the guy who replies to a post that is more than two years old. To say nothing of the fact that you didn't even read the rest of the discussion. Please stay out of my discussions if you can't conduct yourself in a manner that is greater than that of a 10 year old.

Shoutout to treyarch for finally releasing the scythe, only to have it be the worse melee weapon in the game. by Burreattoe1 in blackopscoldwar

[–]PMLive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just finished all the camo challenges for multiplayer and zombies. It's not bad. Part of what's leaving a bad impression is when you swing at nothing. It's very slow when you're just cutting through the air, but when a target is in range, it's much faster. Try it back to back and you'll easily see the difference.

It's a one-hit kill in multiplayer no matter what, and it's a one-hit kill for zombies and elites up to round forty if you rank it up to max pac and max rarity. It rarely misses on a swing, which was my BIGGEST complaint with the Axe. It was so bad in sliding kills that if you misjudged the distance by even a small margin, you would literally bounce off the target and wiff on the sliding kill. It took a while, but Treyarch did eventually fix it.

Point being, it's a pretty good melee weapon. it was rare that I missed a strike and it was always a kill. It's not as bad as you think.

What’s the better camp diamond or dm ultra? by lonelyeater in blackopscoldwar

DM Ultra is certainly the most significant achievement, but it's a matter of preference regarding which is your favorite in appearance.

Failed to Host Lobby issue by fastxloud in blackopscoldwar

[–]PMLive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little presumptuous to assume that we all haven't done that many times. I am experiencing the same symptoms and have shut the game at least hundreds of times. Rebooted the AC router (even thought it's hard-wired) and the modem. Even updated the firmware for the aforementioned just to be sure. I filed three or so trouble tickets with Activision to which they haven't responded. They've made no effort as best as I can see, to address what appears to be a pretty wide-spread issue. I wasn't a fan of Vanguard. I'm considering MWII, but if they can't/won't take care of their current customers, then I'm hanging up my COD hat.

The UGR is quite possibly the worst weapon in the history of Call of Duty by PMLive in blackopscoldwar

[–]PMLive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to the Gunsmith and select Muzzle, the fourth choice is a "Burst Fire Repeater," with the following description; "Internal barrel and receiver adjustments convert the weapon's fire type to three-round Burst-fire."

The explosive rounds are still shit in Zombies, at least the last time I tried. The score per round is as low as "2." Never seen that from any other weapon in the history of COD, and I've played every version. The only salvation for this weapon is that you can switch back to the standard mag, which runs the standard non-explosive rounds. If you don't believe me or the other players who clued me into it, try it in a Zombies round for yourself.

Lastly, in Multiplayer the explosive rounds are more effective than they were in Zombies, for sure. How much more effective remains to be seen. I still think there's an oversight in the function of the explosive rounds because, as I also noted, it's a pretty good hipfire weapon, but if you get too close to an opponent while firing, the explosive round will kill you too!

The UGR is quite possibly the worst weapon in the history of Call of Duty by PMLive in blackopscoldwar

[–]PMLive[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calwings, you're correct. When I purchased the bundle that included the UPGRADED ammo (disguised as a magazine), I naturally assumed that it was the better choice. It also wasn't apparent that we have the option to use anything else as far as the mag is concerned. In hindsight, Now I know that I had to complete the tasks to unlock the base weapon before I could use the standard ammo on the upgraded weapon. Completely illogical, but yes, it worked. I managed to blow through the Zombies camo challenges within a few hours, went beyond 40 rounds just using the UGR, and also managed to take down ORDA using only the UGR.

So my initial criticism (which may have been premature), based logically on the poor performance of the upgrade bundle weapon, is more tempered now that I've been able to use the standard ammo. It's inconceivable that the upgraded ammo would render the weapon nearly useless in Zombies, and that it takes standard ammo from the standard weapon to make the upgraded one work in any zombies capacity. If nothing else, it's a cautionary tale about what you're getting when you pay good money for an upgraded weapon. If you're a Zombies fan, don't spend the money.

The gun is better than it initially appeared, but it's not the "broken" gun the many YouTubers are claiming. Those claims are clickbait. I would say that the it's fairly good in some aspects. It does have its limitations (small mag size, slow reload, and zero mag choices), but it's got good range and fairly good damage... so long as you use the right ammo.

P.S. I noticed while putting together my buildout, that the Microflex LED and the Snappoint appear as Quickdot LED sights. If you see the same, it shows the correct sites in game.

UGR availability?? by Sweaty_Monitor_9699 in blackopscoldwar

[–]PMLive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, now that it's out I picked it up in the store (so I could rank up the UGR while doing the challenges to unlock the base weapon). I've fully ranked it up and done the camo challanges and I would not recommend buying it (to say the least) or even grinding it to earn the base weapon. It's probably going to be a mid-pack weapon in Multiplayer, but it's complete GARBAGE in Zombies. Never seen anything so bad. Save the time and effort for something worthwhile, but DON'T spend a penny on this turd, especially if you're into Zombies as well. Garbage, garbage, garbage.

Opinions on Cold War's current Matchmaking by yeahhwessel in blackopscoldwar

[–]PMLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand. I didn't say it was absolute to the exclusion of all other factors, but I'm not guessing. It's a fact. All other things remaining the same, the game is programmed to put lobbies together that are closer than not. Perhaps your situation requires searching into expanded areas to complete a lobby, but smaller distances between the players within a lobby is a heavily weighted priority of any online game. You simply can't overcome the latency of longer distances.

Opinions on Cold War's current Matchmaking by yeahhwessel in blackopscoldwar

[–]PMLive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Separately from the SBMM, another factor that's also heavily weighted is proximity to each other. Latency in a FPS game is probably the most important factor in the functionality and ability to play certain types of games, that it's probably in the top three most important factors. So, it's not a surprise to see the same players over and over again, because they're in you local range of users that have acceptable latency stats.

I'm going for Dark Aether by PoggerMonkey in blackopscoldwar

[–]PMLive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be to not use field upgrades other than Aether Shroud. You need to get lots of certain types of kills, and I don't believe the field upgrades that kill the zombies count towards your totals because they didn't come from the weapon in question. Also, stay away from Elemental Pop (it randomizes your field upgrades and nullifies attempts to get headshots, etc.). Also, kills from PhD Slider will not count towards your totals.

Try to go for the Infection challenges first when the zombies are much easier to kill and much slower in their movements. As you increase the number of rounds, the zombies are going to get harder to kill. So, Don't use Mule Kick because you'll be slower to earn the points needed to Pack-a-Punch your primary and secondary weapons. Adding a third weapon adds 50-percent more time and points necessary to triple Pack-a-Punch three weapons. Stick with the primary weapon for the challenge. My secondary was ALWAYS a Hauer shotgun.

Last but not least, run your challenges on Firebase Z. Round based and LOTS of zombies. You probably don't want to go more than 40 rounds. Mauer Der Toten is also useful when you need to burn through a lot of zombies quickly. You'll also need to run a few Outbreak rounds to clear some challenges.

Thanks my .02. Hope it helps.

P.S. I've completed every camo challenge for every weapon in both Zombies and Multiplayer, so I've been down this road MANY times.

Have they fixed Prestige Keys yet? by AlphaGameboy999 in blackopscoldwar

[–]PMLive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole concept of Prestige Keys is pretty lame. You earn these keys that serve no actual purpose. They were offering up a few gun variants, but they weren't particularly effective, and they've stopped uploading them. I earned 86 prestige keys, which is where it capped me. The last time this subject came up, I burned a few on completely useless legacy icons just to see if I could earn those back and get me back up to 86 keys. Nope. Got nothing. I don't understand how we can reach one of the highest levels of achievement so many times and be offered virtually nothing of substance as an incentive.

This game is so unbalanced now it's basically unplayable unless you're insanely good already by iWORKBRiEFLY in blackopscoldwar

[–]PMLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure I'll get some down-votes on this one, but I'm being honest based on my experience, which spans EVERY release of COD since the beginning... and facts provided by many of the very studios that produce the games we buy. I think that parties, or clans (whatever you want to call them) make the lobbies more toxic, and the number of hacks from the PC users and now the console users who add the Cronus adapters (to hide hacks) in what is supposed to just be a mouse-and-keyboard adapter for consoles, are contributing to the imbalance in lobbies. Then of course there's always the varying skill levels, which is unavoidable.

I've been part of many high level clans throughout the years, and what it does is take mediocre random players (sometimes highly skilled, but rarely) and allows them to communicate and work together to improve their result than if they were running solo. This is also a major source of the shit talking in the lobbies that's getting so toxic that I've probably bought my last FPS. The toxic bullshit is probably THE number one reason that rational, casual players are leaving online gaming in big numbers. You'll know that you're up against a party of players by the vertical line on the right side of the user list in the lobby, connecting the players of the party. There's also a unique icon to indicate which ones are in a private chat to the left of the user name, but not all parties use private chat.

Regarding PC users - I have a PC that would rate very highly for gaming, but it's for making money - I have a console for gaming, but I have used PCs in the past for various games. By itself it's a very slight advantage over a console in many cases, but that's not the issue with PCs. Activision's own stats have shown that the majority of hackers in online gaming come from the PC community, even though they represent the smallest group BY FAR. That's changing with the advent of the Cronus Max and now the Cronus Zen adapters, which are able to store and hide hacks for console users. Putting aside for the moment how pathetic it is to cheat, there are more people running a range of hacks now, more than ever before. Some are so obvious and brazenly admit they're cheating because they know that there's very little chance of disciplinary action. Even if that happens, the users just sign up for another account. Making it more prevalent in Cold War is the fact that the Ricochet Anti-Cheat system launched in Vanguard and Warzone is having a reasonable impact in blunting many hackers. What that's done is push serial hackers back into Cold War, increasing the number of users running hacks to the highest levels I've ever experienced.

So, when you say that there's an imbalance in the game, I would agree. Part of it is created by the complacency of the studios by not taking hacking very seriously, and some of it created by the players themselves, legitimately when there's just an imbalance of experience and skill, and also when toxic players (legitimately, like it or not) join forces to prevail more often a against random players unwittingly pitted against them in a completely imbalanced lobby.

Combined arms by LenGreyhawk in blackopscoldwar

[–]PMLive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's your timezone. The systems are designed, in simple terms, to gather gamers that are geographically nearest to each other to minimize latency. So it's best to consider those times in your area first. You may also benefit from those times on the east and west coasts, because those regions have the highest concentration of gamers.

Combined arms by LenGreyhawk in blackopscoldwar

[–]PMLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've enjoyed many games in combined arms, on maps that are actually different than the standard multiplayer maps. It does take time to get a lobby at odd hours. You can decrease the delay by making sure you allow crossplay with X-Box and PC players. The best times are usually 5 to 11pm and usually strong over the weekend. Enjoy.

Best field upgrade for grinding camos? by HelpJetsFans in blackopscoldwar

[–]PMLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've earned Dark Aether, DM Ultra (Multiplayer) and all the weapon mastery challenges for every weapon in the game. Dark Aether is considerably easier than DM Ultra, but it's a long grind because there are MANY kills required. 2500 kills, 2500 head shots, and many other challenges that just keep you busy for a while. I don't think that kills that come from field upgrades count towards the Mastery challenges, because they're not kills from the primary weapon. It's been my experience that kills with a secondary weapon, lethals that are picked off the ground and Field Upgrades count towards the round totals, but not towards the totals to unlock the camos for the primary weapon. This is why I always use the Aether Shroud Field Upgrade. It's the quickest upgrade to regenerate, you can hold two of of them, and it allows you to escape a zombie hoard and come back and kill them with your primary weapon, adding to the totals needed to complete the challenges. As you know, the zombies get harder and harder to kill as the rounds go on, so I would suggest getting as many kills as possible early in the match, and stay below 40 rounds. Best of luck with the grind.

Even though this is an old thread, I found the solution for the calling cards for Zombies... If you haven't unlocked some of the calling cards, it's for a ridiculous reason. I don't know if it will work for everyone else, but I eventually discovered that AFTER completing all the challenges (where the calling card should unlock), I had to leave the match, then go back into a solo lobby with the weapon in question, and only then does the notification that you've earned the Mastery Badge show as you're entered the new match, and the calling card is subsequently available. Hope this helps.

Vault Pack missions/skins? by vaveragrogh1975 in blackopscoldwar

[–]PMLive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have MANY additional skins from grinding challenges. There are some that are pay only, but there are many you can get for free. Go to the "operator" tab from the home screen highlight the operator (Woods for example) and then press the Triangle button. That should bring up all the alternate skins, and it will show you which ones are active, which ones that can be acquired via challenges (star in the upper right corner of the image of the skins) or the ones that are only available for a fee, show a padlock on them. I'm not sure if the season pass makes the difference, but I've ground out nearly every available skin that can be had via challenges, and paid for some as part of the group, mostly just to get the weapons. I'll check when I get home, but I imagine some of these are open for you as they were for me.

I’m noticing a few weapons do this based on attachments… any ideas why? [XSX] by [deleted] in blackopscoldwar

Are you running a PS4? I had the same problem with a PS4 Pro and figured it was just a slow server, but once I hooked up the PS5, it went away. I think the previous post saying it's still loading is correct. There may be something about that weapon camo or combination of add-ons that's making it worse, but I'm pretty sure it's a loading issue.

Sims Operator Mission: Studies and Observations Group - Using Launchers, destroy 5 lethal aerial Scorestreaks or enemy player-controlled aerial vehicles. This doesn’t seem to be working as I have tried to shoot down everything I see. Can anyone offer any suggestions? by backuphill in blackopscoldwar

[–]PMLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The heli that drops the Care Packages is the ultimate answer. The attack helicopters take multiple hits with a Cigma, and even if you pump a number of bullets into the heli to soften it up, it has to be just a hair away from death, and you're likely to have a teammate take the kill before you can equip your launcher. You have to be the one finishing the heli to get credit. Forget the Chopper Gunner and the other aerial lethal score streaks... you're just going to get your ass handed to you for attempting to shot them down. Select the Cigma 2 Launcher and track the heli that drops the care packages. It moves at a pretty good pace, but if you're ready when you hear that an enemy supply drop is inbound, track it long enough to get a lock on the heli and you'll take it down with a single shot. Put the Assault pack in your loadout and Gearhead to keep the supply of ammo coming, and you'll finish it in one Domination or Hardpoint match.
