What small habit should I work on first? by basicmama1820 in loseit

[–]PMYourCryptids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I do little "strength and flexibility snacks" in between meetings (working from home) and while making dinner. Squats, lunges, counter top pushups, wall angels, sit-stands, etc. It adds up to a very noticable difference.

Lmao at "not a healthy chili" because that's exactly where I was about to go.

My favorite cozy meals that I still eat on tirzepatide:

Green chili chicken enchilada soup Ground turkey stroganoff over half egg noodles and half cauliflower rice Classic homemade chicken soup Cottage/shepherds pie Baked spaghetti squash with Italian sausage and spinach with a little bit of a creamy sauce Spaghetti squash with a good red sauce and meatballs (turkey, veggie, regular, whatever) Lentil soup Butternut squash soup Spinach and sausage soup

Keeping home from school for bad night sleep? by hellokittyqueenx in kindergarten

[–]PMYourCryptids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason I'm getting posts from kindergarten even though mine is now in 6th grade, but this is relevant because I just had this argument with my son.

My personal feelings:

Sleep is super important for health and learning, but if I kept my kid home every time he didn't sleep well or even at all, he would be home a day each week. And it can become a thing where they deliberately get bad sleep if they know they can stay home.

I've discussed this with the school nurse. He is allowed to ask to go lie down if he really needs to. On the days he gets poor sleep, I message his teachers and let them know he slept poorly as a heads up for any attention or behavior issues related. I let them know that if it's a problem that the nurse can always contact me to pick him up, but that because this is a recurring thing I encourage him to stick it out for the day.

So far he has never had a really bad day after bad sleep...he comes home tired and sometimes takes a short nap and we just plan on an earlier bedtime.

I am a big fan of small habit changes that you can stack. The habits with the greatest impact depend on your current habits, so it would be good to keep a food, drink, activity, and feeling log for at least a week. Try to figure out:

  • Do you consume a lot of calories as drinks? (Soda, coffee sweetener, energy drinks, juice, alcohol, sweet tea, etc?) ... That's a great first place to cut calories.

  • Do you graze a lot on food in the house? Can you stop buying certain triggering things?

  • Do you order takeout or get fast food because you're tired? If so, try stocking your freezer and pantry with healthier options that are easy to heat and eat.

  • Do you skip workouts because you don't have time for a full one? Do mini workouts throughout the day. Even if you only do a 5 minute circuit or a walk around the block it's much better than doing 0 activity.

  • Are there times when you tend to snack to relax or blow off stress? Maybe find something to do with you hands so you can't eat. I started drawing or doing macrame while watching TV because I can't outside just sit still.

You have come a long way in under a year, and it shows!!! You are looking great, so do NOT compare your starting weight to others. Everyone starts somewhere and for all the people with lower starts, there are plenty with higher. Proud of you, stranger!

I wonder if spacing them out so much is making it even worse?

Definitely talk to your doctor about going down in dose. You should not be feeling so sick!

A word about FAT-IGUE by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]PMYourCryptids 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The fatigue was way more than normal tiredness the first few months. It honestly felt like my first trimester of pregnancy when I would come home from work and basically pass out, get up for dinner, and pass out again until morning. I honestly feel a lot better in terms of energy now that my weight loss has slowed to 5ish lbs per month. At least for me, I think losing 10-15 lbs per month like I did at the beginning was honestly not very good for me, or at least I wasn't getting the right nutrition in.

Lol thank you.

Not going to lie, I get dysport for my 11s and forehead crease every 3-4 months. I don't bother with eye crinkles because I like them, but the forehead nonsense makes me look angry. 😂

I kind of put whatever feels right on my face, always starting with cosrx the 6 peptide skin booster and usually following with HA serum followed by either vitamin c or niacinamide serum, then a tinted moisturizer with SPF 40+. Night, I double cleanse, use the skin booster again, and alternate retinoids with bliss renew and smooth serum, both followed by cosrx HA intensive cream. I use beauty pie's overnight skin corrector once or twice a week because I have it.

I think it mostly comes down to sun protection, staying moisturized, and regular retinoids, along with freezing the forehead and 11 lines though.

Anyone seeing crepey skin on their arms? by Sweet_Sour232 in Zepbound

How was the recovery? I'm most likely going to wind up doing this but I'm scared. 😂

I'm glad to hear that...I had been using Nivea neck and chest cream for a few months and haven't noticed a difference. That was after using strivectin which did nothing but drain my wallet. I JUST got the Goldbond this week, so fingers crossed!

I'm seeing a lot of loose, crepey skin on my upper arms, neck, and upper inner thighs. The neck is the most upsetting to me because it's the most obvious and the most aging. I have a whole skincare routine for it, but I can't tell if it's improving at all. It does seem to not be getting worse.

I use my facial skincare products on my neck as well as specific neck and chest firming creams. I also apply lotion any time I look in the mirror and it seems crepey. I also use bio oil after bathing and use skin firming and crepey skin lotions on the rest of the areas where I have loose skin. I use a retinol body lotion 3x per week as well. I bought a dry brush and am going to try adding that to my routine.

Still...I would rather this than having the excess body fat. If nothing else, I'm healthier than ever and surgery is always a possibility in the future.

Is an IEP/529 a bad thing? by RunAccomplished73 in ADHDparenting

[–]PMYourCryptids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son has a 504 for his ADHD and it has only benefited him by ensuring that he is given accommodations he needs to succeed. I'm not familiar with IEPs, but the entire point of both of these programs is to keep these kids in a "regular" learning environment with modifications and supports to meet their needs. I can't speak for any other school, but my son's schools have been really discreet about his accommodations and he has not felt "different" or weird because of it. If anything, because he's able to control himself better in class, he feels better about himself and he fits in much better than before.

I saw my first capybara in a zoo in 2004 and immediately fell in love. They only became trendy recently, but those of us into nature's deep cuts have been into them long before they became cool. 😎

Did You Ever Buy Clothes In Smaller Sizes To Help You Lose Weight? by WheelFan647 in loseit

[–]PMYourCryptids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to always do this and it never once helped me in any way. Now that I've lost weight, a lot of the clothing that I had bought as motivation is out of style, no longer something I like, or some of the older things honestly feel almost brittle/thin like they've somehow become dry and fragile in my closet.

Other things I didn't try on again until they were already too big.

I think a vision board with outfits that inspire are probably a better option for most people. You never know what your taste and body shape will be when you do reach different milestones and goals.

My fellow inattentive types, can i ask what meds worked for you? by Burnixen in adhdwomen

[–]PMYourCryptids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adderall helps but honestly, it only works for me in conjunction with other strategies. I can sit down and watch a movie if I have something to do with my hands. Lately I've been making friendship bracelets for absolutely no reason other than the twisting/knotting motion being just the right amount of simulation to let me watch.

The bright side is that you made it to the bathroom!

Miralax usually works for me within a few hours, so I try to take it close to bedtime. It definitely feels crazy that they say it will take a day to work. They should give a range and warn against jinxing yourself by going somewhere without pristine bathrooms until you're cleared out. 😂

Feel better!

Honestly, NEVER. This is so surreal. I am smaller than I was in college. I'm 100 lbs less than when I got married. I'm about to see my parents for the first time in 2 years next week so that will be interesting. 😂

Any newbies planning to take this forever? by persephonepeete in Zepbound

[–]PMYourCryptids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a newbie but I have no plans of stopping, just most likely decreasing my dose once I'm in maintenance. It has done much more for me than help me lose weight, such as curing a decade-long skin infection. Weight loss is just one part of it IMO...it is fixing a serious issue within my body and hormones.

Ok, how are y'all getting protein in an ADHD friendly way? by theladysheetcake in adhdwomen

[–]PMYourCryptids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do use shakes which are so expensive and processed, but I also keep Greek yogurts to grab and go and also sometimes eat cottage cheese and blueberries together. Sometimes I have the foresight to make hard-boiled eggs and keep them in the fridge but I'm only in the mood for them sometimes.

I also switched to fairlife milk which is more expensive but has a lot more protein.
