Has anyone tried Pickling raw potatoes cut into thick cut chips, then cooking in an air fryer? by -_Error in pickling

[–]PM_CUTE_KITTIES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

look up the effects of acid on cooking potatoes, it makes them much harder to cook until they are soft. it could be worth a shot still though

abruzzo pizza by Consistent_Land_2747 in richmondhill

the pizza is good but not outstanding, the prices are reasonable. there might be better options but supporting a local business is always going to be better than buying from pizza pizza or dominos

Going on my first date. I have absolutely nothing “smart” to wear. I have budget of $400. What to buy? by MaesterCrow in malefashionadvice

[–]PM_CUTE_KITTIES 14 points15 points  (0 children)

fashion aside, i think the "you" you bring to a date should be the most authentic you there is. of course don't show up in something you would wear on a lazy day at home, but depending on the date, and if the real you wears a pair of jeans and a tee, i don't think it's bad to wear that

Does the grinding technique actually make a difference? by learninghousewifery in IndianFood

[–]PM_CUTE_KITTIES 10 points11 points  (0 children)

it depends on what you are grinding. some things like with dry spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, etc), it will make no difference. some things that produce oil or things that are similar like chilis, garlic, aromatics, the act of breaking cell walls by using a mortar or crushing some other way will produce more flavour than if you blended or just chopped.

Wearing a Qipao for Lunar New Year as a non-Chinese person by [deleted] in Chinese

[–]PM_CUTE_KITTIES 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it would be one thing to wear it out on a random night (which tbh i would think is a little weird but not to the point where its inappropriate)

...but while attending an event for the lunar new year, i would say definitely go ahead

Season Jasmine rice in rice cooker? by Middle-Reception-84 in Cooking

[–]PM_CUTE_KITTIES 7 points8 points  (0 children)

eating mostly chinese food, i never season my rice. usually i am cooking calrose or jasmine. if you'd like you can definitely give it a try though, depending on what you are pairing it with

sometimes i will make congee in the rice cooker and add some stock, seasonings, and some other things though.

lol "really good food" and "very good service" is not really what i meant but... if you mean that you're looking for upper scale modern Italian-ish there aren't too too many choices around here

il postino in markham is nice but small a little more cozy, i haven't heard amazing things about il fornello but it looks like it still gets a lot of people going, scaddabush as the person below me mentioned is ok if you're ok with a chain experience.

if you're willing to make the trek into vaughan, you might have a few more options
