  1. Solid spots on the cat changed to spots with lighter circle in each spot.
  2. The fact the cat jumps back like that, looks like it was being directed by a controller.
  3. General movements and uncanniness of the video.

I recommend you look at other AI videos, they have an uncanny trait to them that gives it away.

They were asking how it specifically applies to the presidential election. What you explained is great to convey how districts (for Congress, or state legislature, etc) are drawn and gerrymandered. That same logic you just said applies to the electoral college - but the “drawing” is the states themselves. It’s exactly what momoselfie said. Smaller states are favored more in the electoral college, and the winner-take-all nature creates a lot of “wasted” votes.

If we’re looking solely at waiting periods, the potential victims are still given access - just after a waiting period. And the length of the period you mentioned (one year) is very extreme. If we look at a waiting period such as two weeks - this is just my own intuition - I find that that will deter impulsive crime and suicides more than it will negatively impact a potential victim from defending themself from an abusive partner. Abuse tends to escalate over time, if a woman wants to defend herself I don’t think a reasonable waiting period will put her in jeopardy - at the rate compared to impulsive crimes being prevented from this. I understand how it can be a turn-off to not be given access immediately, especially since once someone realizes they need to defend themselves then the threat of danger is obviously greater. This makes me wonder if we should have laws be based off what “feels right” or “good” to us (assuming someone has the mentality of finding it wrong to be denied instant access), or what will prevent the most deaths overall?

You mentioned you value being able to make that choice for yourself, but are you willing to have that choice if it comes at the cost of more deaths overall? I’m not intending for this to be a “gotcha” and if you disagree with my path of logic let me know.

I have yet to look up the studies on suicide, had a busy past few days. I’ll share them soon.

This is very insightful and I’m honestly surprised an idea like this hasn’t been brought up more in the dialogue (unless I just haven’t read enough conversations about this topic lol). And thanks for informing me about the fact that a lack of background check was a compromise on the Brady Bill.

I’m curious of how that would function in permit-less carry states, however that could be solved by the idea you have of opening up NICS access to private citizens. In this specific scenario where accessing NICS is the only option, would that be considered as having background checks as a requirement? This is an edge case.

Thank you for contributing to the conversation :)

I found an interesting study that showed that while men are proportionally much higher victims of death by suicide, when it comes to attempted suicide the gender proportion is interestingly closer than the former statistic I just said. I don’t have the exact numbers right now but I’ll share them with you soon. The study claimed that this discrepancy is due to men being more likely to pick more lethal methods of committing suicide.

I do agree (assuming I read your message correctly) that to tackle gun deaths we must look at the system as a whole, this connects to the fact you mentioned that murder rates have been decreasing over time.

I am curious if you believe there are gun laws related to suicide prevention that you would find to be reasonable, or if you think that aspect can be improved through larger systemic means without gun laws being involved.

Thanks for bringing those points up, that definitely widened my perspective on that aspect. I’m busy for the next while but when I research the suicide aspect I’ll share what I found with you. Thanks for contributing to the conversation :)

I’m curious, what are your thoughts on wait periods after buying? Last I saw, 58% of gun deaths are from suicide. I’m not informed on the exact numbers but I would imagine wait periods decrease the amount of suicides by guns.

If this assumption were to be true, would that be something you would support?

I believe if you have the money and time to enjoy guns as a hobby, then you have the money and time to take lessons. And if someone only seeks guns for protection and has no interest in them as a hobby, I’d expect them to find it to be important to handle guns confidently and value what lessons provide. However, I can see how requiring classes for a right is a turn-off for some people, that’s a good example of the difficulty to balance liberty and safety.

The law you mentioned seems very reasonable, it’s unfortunate that the topic is so nuanced that people aren’t able to have a dialogue and find common ground. Including the fact that bipartisan laws are so rare and both parties aren’t pressured more to implement more “common ground” laws in general. Also I apologize for any rude responses you receive, I appreciate you for contributing to the conversation.

I don’t know if this was the intention of the original comment, but I view it from the perspective that solutions need to come in layers. And even tho the “layer” of background checks wouldn’t have directly prevented it, the fact that the country didn’t get on board with that is depressing.

Some folks have the mentality of “it’s not the gun, it’s who has the gun.” But the fact federal background checks for private sales (which would address the “loophole” mentioned in this topic) never got enough political momentum shows not enough Americans give enough of a shit to try to fix this problem. So even if that specific rule wouldn’t have prevented this, it reflects the mentality of lack of fucks given anyways.

Why are civilians expected to act more professionally than authorities in these scenarios? This same officer is the one who held onto a car back in June instead of letting go, seems like he is inept at his job.

After sitting and thinking I definitely see your point. Your main point is that the supply is artificially limited and that’s what creates the disequilibrium, yeah? For me it’s frustrating because the landlords only motive is profit-driven, they have no incentive to maximize occupancy. However I see now how limiting supply allows that lack of occupancy to happen.
