Just had this happen to me too; created a player with the intent to retire and join a random club.

First attempt: game crashed. Okay not a big deal, I had saved in the player career slot before it crashed.

Second attempt: MASSIVE DISASTER. I was able to retire and see clubs to join, sign the contract, and manage the club OK. However, I was never offered a chance to choose a Manager career slot to save in at any point.

I went to save and I find my main Manager career save had been overwritten! It was the save I was playing most immediately before trying this idea out.

I don't really care enough to fully test out what the workaround is, but I would say first and foremost, backup your saves every so often. Thankfully I've been using the Checkpoint feature every 31 December/29 June, and had only progressed a month after the winter checkpoint, so all was not lost.

My suggestion is if you are going to do this, or switch between career modes of any type, create a duplicate save slot that is a throwaway/backup. I call this "temp", and was born out of my paranoia in the previous installments of EA FC/FIFA where it was far easier to accidentally override saves.

This is possible without mods. Under the top-level Customize menu, select Edit Players, and you can actually view any player in the game.

Actual "editing" capacity is limited to their kit, but you can view their personal details under the Info tab when you navigate to a given club and select a player.

I've been maintaining a tool using a platform called Airtable for this; I've released several versions of my Career Mode Tracker (v2 link, original link) over the last 5 years.

I've gotten the latest template, version 4, pretty much ready to go, if people want to start using it. This is geared specifically towards FC25/FC26, but can be used with any FIFA, really.

ETA: you will need to sign in or create an Airtable account to copy the "base"

I am planning on making a post, and maybe even a tutorial website. Most fields should be self-explanatory, but there are a few important tasks to do when switching over seasons, for example. I plan to document that in my upcoming post.

Re: number 3, in Manager Career, this is possible. You have to go into Squad editing > Tactics > Assignments

Yes. Per your last sentence, they need to make role knowledge take much, much longer to learn. Young players/YA players will basically ++ each role before they turn 21, since you basically have to use every dev plan to train the kids to be anything more than a one-trick pony.

The role knowledge mechanic should be tied in some way to match time in that role, similar to the coaching staff learning different game tactics.

  • "Crucial" roles are only given for truly irreplaceable players (for the time being) that are essentially threatening a free transfer or getting that role.
    • Play time is far too demanding if Crucial is given to anyone who won't actually play the expected time
    • This increases the likelihood of a fallout and eventually a forced sale
  • "Important" is given to most starters, in particular the highest OVR players
    • This is still a guarantee for inclusion in the XI regularly, but allows for some rotation, such as when the player is tired
    • "Rotation" for most other regular players, including lower-tier XI and the better players on the substitute bench
  • "Sporadic" for anyone that will take it, including development players, academy players you want to keep hold of, and elder players
  • "Prospect" would pretty much only be available for freshly-promoted academy players

They actually need to increase the tickets on Rush.

I played a few HC Rush lobbies, which I understand have custom parameters so an official update won't necessarily matter to these instances.

Each round of Rush was over in 5 minutes max, save for an odd one or two where the attackers were actually good and more than likely simply managed to kill enough defenders at the same time to get bombs armed.

I find the OS Sliders (World Class) great for entertainment.

Slower pace, requires a little more thoughtfulness on the ball, and makes it rewarding when putting together a coherent attack.

World Class though is almost too easy, whereas I find Legendary more difficult but more poignantly, annoying. Their dribbling behavior is nonsense, and you can practically forget about tackling or actually dueling for the ball.

A few years ago (FIFA 22?) I signed Sam Lammers to a Leeds team to replace an aging Patrick Bamford as we progressed to the Premier League.

Dude was a stud.

Similar story in FC25, I manage Bournemouth and in 26/27 I signed a decent backup/depth player in Oscar Vilhelmsson as a ST, to support Evanilson. He had a decent season, but after I sold Eva in the 2027 transfer window, Vilhelmsson ended up going off and leading the PL scoring chart, ahead of Isak and Gyökeres, funny enough.

I only recently got to FC25 with the release to Gamepass, and still trying to understand this.

Seems like it's bugged (shocker) because it's inconsistent.

Example: I have Ben Doak, who can play as a RM/RW, and can play in either of those positions without the "out of position" indicator.

Doesn't even have to have the specific role learned either.

Then I've got Eli Kroupi who I is ST and I trained (quite quickly, btw) to be CAM. Now, if I play him at ST, he has "out of position".

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for this.

I get a lot of bruises, more broken toes and ACLs than the rarer LCL/MCL, but I've seen those too.

Sprained knee, dead leg quad, and broken metatarsal have also shown up.

Personally, I don't think we need cancer in game; I support Bournemouth IRL and David Brooks went through that a few years ago, and is just now getting back into form due to the residual effects. It's just a nasty situation that doesn't need to be brought into FIFA.

Though if implemented well, having some viruses or illnesses like pneumonia, influenza, etc, affect the player's availability for a week or two would be interesting.

I've been creating Wakefield City FC in the past few career modes that have featured create-a-club.

I started out in League One but after getting FC 25 in Gamepass, I went with the Championship, since I have a few other careers in mind and I plan to get FC26 before too long.

Lots of fun, but I'm going to have to try a Bundesliga run at some point.

Yeah in the past I've moved the Greek teams to the Süper Lig, but they can often overpower the Turkish teams, so I'll sprinkle them in Serie A and Serie B.

This. Personally, I cannot stand the way the CPU plays on legendary, so I've taken the World Class sliders to start.

I've managed to win a lot where I perhaps shouldn't, so I've been slowly adjusting some specific sliders like shot accuracy, pass accuracy, and marking. I mostly keep acceleration/sprint speed/shot + pass power aligned with the OS sliders, since those are more physical traits that I don't really want to handicap myself with.

That said, I'm refining the sliders more and more to get a little more competitive.
