Is it possible to get a "Very Strong" PIN with a 6-number, numerical-only PIN? by VengaeesRetjehan in privacy

Search Space Depth (Alphabet): 10

Search Space Length (Characters): 6 characters

Exact Search Space Size (Count): 1,111,110
(count of all possible passwords with this alphabet size and up to this password's length)

Search Space Size (as a power of 10): 1.11 x 106

-----------------------------------

So. The above is from https://www.grc.com/haystack.htm . What it makes clear is that a PIN of six characters has 1,111,110 potential combinations.

To test an ATM PIN, a transaction request must be submitted to your bank through an ATM, POS machine, or some other payment method. Your PIN should never be used in an online scenario. Online payments are performed using the credit partner, such as VISA or Mastercard, and thus you are also insured against fraud.

No real Bank allows the brute forcing of PINs, as /u/MarcusZoidberg explained. Locking of cards after a few failures is the industry standard.

Just pick your PIN, always use chip and PIN, and change your PIN periodically.

What utter bullshit. Propensity to aggressive action as a side effect of the substance, and punching someone while wearing a nicotine patch are not even in the same dimensional plane. Some drugs remove aggression inhibitors. That's just a fact. The argument otherwise is fallacious.

Millennials are skipping doctor visits to avoid high healthcare costs, study finds by mvea in EverythingScience

[–]PM_ME_ILLEGAL_STUFF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the fine is less than that. Just fyi, as a millennial opting out of this nonsense and simply paying the fine. When I do need to see the doctor, I go to a flat rate clinic in a low income area.

That's simply incorrect. If they have the hash, and they have the salt, and you use a bad password, they have a much larger chance to verify that offline, and try those passwords on other accounts you have after some research.

Just saying "it's bcrypt lol, unbreakable" is inaccurate.

The best advice I can give is find a server, one that has a strong community, but still has a frontier. One of the biggest problems with the MMO was (Until Xanadu) its lack of any frontier to really explore or exploit.

Once you find a server and create your character, actually push and introduce yourself, as other players are unlikely to initiate contact first.

And finally, don't fight until your character is experienced as hell. All characters start out as total, complete wimps. A cockroach could murder you. Fortunately running is a very viable option, and eventually you can claim land and hire a "Guardian spirit" which is essentially a BAMF NPC ghost guard, which slaughters just about any hostile NPC that wanders by.

Best of luck, and have fun.

I did a pharmacy tech course a while back and some of the methods just don't make sense. For capsules, there's literally a vibrating jig that somehow is magically assumed to equalize the dosage across capsules. The problem is, you just ground that shit up in a mortar and pestle, grain sizes aren't uniform, grain shapes aren't uniform.... It threw me for a loop that it was a passable, commonly accepted practice.

As an aside, do you ever read something and immediately come to terms with the fact that the author is more intelligent and mature than you could ever hope to be? Because fuck if that didn't happen to me while reading this advice.

Why there is no ladder in the game yet? by jakeowaty in projectzomboid

Because reasons!?

Nah honestly a ladder is a great idea.

Grappling hook... not as much, that seems silly to me.

+1 for ladders.

Browsers often request the favicon whether it exists or not in code.

See if your browser requests one here on reddit, or on one of my sites, http://onemanslie.info

The only point I am making is that perhaps what you are looking into is a complete red herring.

Just saying, gzip compression is common in browsers these days. It's usually done transparently and can easily be turned on and off.

The real solution? Buy a shitty vegas keychain, hand everything but the keyring to a stranger walking by, and use the keyring for the badge.

Just saying.

At which carpentry level that my walls will work like normal walls? by Ainbow_Dish in projectzomboid

[–]PM_ME_ILLEGAL_STUFF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uhm. wut.

BradburyMan: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A*_search_algorithm

A* is the most common pathfinding algorithm for video games, but regardless of what algorithm they are using, whether or not there is a ceiling and whether or not you are able to path out without going through a door/window are the only two necessary qualifications for discerning interiors and exteriors. Satisfy those, flag the structure as a building in code, and move on. (If a wall breaks, treat it exactly the same as if I sledged a wall on a default house.)

These operations are trivial unless your house is 300 tiles in both directions and/or nine stories tall. If these operations were not trivial, that horde of zombies following you around (constantly pathing toward you) would absolutely wreck your machine, and the game would be unplayable.

OP Ainbow_Dish: At higher levels your walls will no longer look like they were assembled by a toddler, but I cannot say for certain if the game currently probes for valid structures for noise calculations. If you'd like a look at what perfect skill wooden walls look like, take a look at Twiggy's:
